  1. Agreed. I think the distorted vocals are a choice just like OMG. While that’s not my favorite choice personally these songs date back to the early 2000s and it fits with that time period.
  2. To describe anyone as a soul monster……man…..that’s some deep hurt….. Another fire side chat would be amazing. So many unanswered questions
  3. Beltrami worked on The General, Soul Monster, Seven, and Thyme. It makes sense that Monsters and The General share the orchestration. I never thought they would be paired together but it makes some sense because they were both Beltrami tracks. I can’t escape the thought that Monsters is Soul Monster simply because of that bridge. I cannot imagine Axl doing a meaner bridge than that on another song. It’s exactly how it was described in 2008.
  4. After listening to the General a handful of times the second half of it is up there with some of the best stuff on Chinese. Especially from the orchestra bridge onward. I could have done without the whole daddy don’t part. Monsters (Soul Monster) fits seamlessly into the CD canon. The Bridge is so angry it’s almost cathartic to listen to.
  5. The General definitely not. Monsters I could see being played on hard rock radio
  6. According to set list fm the two new songs were played
  7. It has to be Soul Monster. I cannot imagine another song having a meaner bridge than that. It’s exactly how Axl described it in the chats in 2008.
  8. Could not agree more. The guitar playing on Monsters (especially the 2nd half) is very reminiscent of Slash’s best work with VR. I wish Slash had been more open to adding some modernity to GNR back in the 90s. I thought all the loops, drum machines, and synths on CD were really cool and made the sound overall very unique on that album. It’s a shame so much time was wasted but I’m so glad we are getting this now. As always I hope there is more to come. Dying to hear what Slash does with Atlas.
  9. I really appreciate what Axl was going for in the whole Chinese era. Progressing the GNR sound forward. Trying new things. Being Bold. Being extremely personal almost to a fault. Chinese just should have been an epic double album.
  10. I can’t get over that the cell phone recording of the party is not actually the general but monsters (soul monster)
  11. 1. ABSURD 2. HARD SKOOL 3. PERHAPS 4. THE GENERAL 5. MONSTERS (SOUL MONSTER) 6. atlas 7. seven (;) 8. tonto 9. sog 10. light my fire 11. cuban skies They should just drop the rest of these tracks and put this era to an amazing close.
  12. I believe monsters is definitely soul monster. The way Axl goes off so hard on the bridge is exactly how he described his Venom Christmas Card in 2008.
  13. It is absolutely incredible to finally hear unheard officially released studio tracks
  14. Yes this is not for the radio or casual fans. It’s an absolute banger. I love it so much
  15. Monsters has to be soul monster. The Bridge is our Black Sabbath moment fits the bridge of that song for sure. Cannot believe that cell phone recording was in fact Monsters (Soul Monster IMO) and not the general. I swear this is like Christmas for a hardcore GNR fan.
  16. Monsters has got to be soul monster. The way Axl goes for it on the bridge is exactly what he described in those chats in 2008.
  17. Now this is some shit a hardcore fan can love. Dark, Epic, Crazy. Wow. These two are not for the casual fan base. Wholy Moly!
