Axl said the 1999 version was a demo because it was not well received at the time. Everyone including the hard core fan base at the time hated it myself included. I remember being beyond disappointed the first time I heard it on the radio. Now it didn’t take long for it to grow to people and many people now like it. But it was not a demo in 1999. I know he worked on it more but I cannot imagine why. It’s not that great of a song and it had already been mixed, mastered, and officially released.

But Silkworms/Absurd was never officially released. OMG was officially released and frankly not that great of a song. If you are going to have slash and duff work on songs wouldn’t it make sense to choose A-list non released tracks

You want to know how it’s definitely fake- OMG. This is not going to be on any album or re-released other than a bonus track on something maybe. This song has been released. It was mixed and mastered and put out. It was never a demo

Could be General Sept/Oct Atlas November Unkown B side December Pre-Order for EP CD at thanksgiving for Christmas.

I don’t think it’s that far fetched. Maybe not a full studio LP but an EP with 4 tracks and 4 live tracks wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility. If the plan is to actually begin the process of a new album next year now would be the time to get everything out there.

It is odd that there was not an immediate link to buy the perhaps and general single on CD. This is the major indicator that there may be more coming

1. The General (thank god this is actually happening) 2. Soul Monster (the demo is rad would love to hear this shit with lyrics) 3. Oklahoma (because c’mon this was on a set list in 2000. I was 20 then for fucks sake) 4. Down by the Ocean (a modern GNR song written by Izzy-yes please) 5. Seven ( According to brain a timeless ballad written by Axl Rose. Sign me up it not like Axl is awesome at ballads;) 6. Atlas Shrugged (I believe slash can dramatically improve this song) 7 Cuban Skies (supposedly about cigars. And no one loves a good cigar more than me)

There was supposed to be CD1 and CD2. CD1 already had catcher and the blues. So another piano driven mid tempo rocker is not what that album needed. Had there not been the 14 million dollar bill that needed to be paid CD should have just been a double album. Had it been 10 years earlier they could’ve gone the UYI route and just release two albums at once

Ok so what are we putting the odds at of a version of The General leaking prior to an official release? I’d say about a 20% chance. And the big question- If this happens will you listen to it or wait for the official version?

I kinda like the nod to Finck. When I heard the cell phone recording of the juke box fiasco thought it sounded super weird. When it debuted on the radio I thought it sounded fine and I actually liked it. C’mon y’all know Axl makes some weird and interesting choices. I mean this is the same dude who did a line of Sorry like count chocula.

It is curious that SOG was not on that list of CD2 options considering it was pretty complete other than the vocals at the end of the bridge

Saved by the bell soundtrack lol. I hate that stupid school bell in the beginning of the song. It’s so dumb. I wish there was a way to remove it.

After how great this Perhaps release has been it’s pretty baffling that the first comeback single was that turd absurd.

Of course I want an Atlas official release. Perhaps is such a drastic improvement from the leaked version I would love to see what they do with Atlas. Hopefully next year.

Going back to the late 90s all the label ever wanted was a reunion. I would imagine this was part of the reason for the massive CD delay and the CD2 non release. Now they got it

Oh I guarantee you someone has it. There were just way too many people in and out of the CD project over the years
