  1. We all have Perhaps. It’s fine. It’s an average GNR song with an above average piano breakdown at the end. Maybe Slash will improve the solo. I think if we are being completely honest the only reason everyone is interested in a perhaps official release is that we all hope the General comes as the second single.
  2. DJ and Chris Pitman are going head to head lol. I never knew so many people didn’t like Pitman. I always thought of the extra keyboard players as basically non factors to anything. I think Pitman helped write Madagascar which is an absolute banger of a song so I’m definitely glad he was in the band.
  3. Not all music is dated. Some music has a kind of timeless quality. But OMG is so 1999 it might as well have frosted tips and a puka shell necklace on.
  4. It has its moments. The Disco beat is cool. The Eddie Van Halen guitar solo is cool. I absolutely hate the effect Axl put on his vocals. It was a massive disappointment in 1999 and makes the song sound incredibly dated.
  5. I said this already a few pages back- It was not demo. It was a completed song that was mixed, mastered, and released. This whole demo narrative started after everyone heard the song and said it sucked and was weird. That was the initial response from almost all fans and critics at the time. Myself included. I will say it grew on me and other hardcore fans pretty quickly but most people thought it sucked then and think it sucks now. I have no idea why it was worked on again. It’s just not that good. Adding Bucket, Bumble, or Slash to it is like putting lipstick on a pig. It’s just a bit better than Absurd and that’s not saying much.
  6. Agreed. It didn’t have to be end of days. Just saying based on what was available in 99 I think IRS would have been a much better comeback single
  7. IRS is what they should have used to re-introduce GNR instead of OMG. It still sounds a bit like classic GNR but with the modern twists.
  8. The funniest part about that article is when the writer says this will help hold over the fans until the full album is released next summer lol. If only he knew it would be 9 fucking years.
  9. This sounds great because he’s in that low register. Not in the Mickey register
  10. Same. I heard the lead in about it on the radio and was so excited. Then I heard it. And was like WTF is this?! I was soooooooo disappointed. I grew to appreciate after I listened to it some. It has some cool elements like the disco beat and Robins Eddie Van Halen homage guitar solo. But I still hate the stupid filter on Axl’s vocals (it makes the song super dated) and it has just ok lyrics and arrangement.
  11. Demo lol. Axl only acted like it was a “demo” that was ripped from his hands before it could be completed because everyone and I mean everyone in the media thought the song was weird and sucked when it came out in 99. So this it was only a demo narrative got created. It was and is a complete song that was mixed and mastered. And being that it is a C+ B- song at best I cannot imagine why he worked on it again later.
  12. I’m sorry but aren’t those three separate songs from three separate albums? It’s not like they released the 1st unforgiven 3 separate times .
  13. I understand that was the case but it’s so insane and would be completely insane to pass off a 24 year sound track song as a brand new single. I don’t even think Axl would do that.
  14. I will never understand why a song that was already officially released was worked on in any capacity. Who does this?! This would be like if Metallica had continued to work on I Disappear after it was already officially released for MI2. I can’t think of any other artist ever doing this. And yes people are so starved and desperate for new material they would be interested in another version of OMG lol.
  15. I never understand why OMG is always mentioned as a possible song to release. It was already officially released. In 1999.
  16. I checked a bunch of other known titles with the G and it brought up nothing Guns related
  17. Not that it means anything but interesting none the less
  18. Anything attached to new studio releases is fine by me. Just not a live album only.
  19. We obsess over the vault because not all of the CD era stuff is mediocre. Some of the songs from CD are really good and on par with UYI and appetite. And I’m sure some of the unheard stuff is really good. But Perhaps, Atlas, Hard Skool are just ok. SOG is good but obviously incomplete. And Silkworms/Absurd is terrible. We also obsess over the vault because even mediocre new GNR songs are better than no new GNR songs.
  20. It was bad in 2001 and it is bad now. And it is one of the most bizarre choices for a single from any artist ever.
  21. This is the beauty of the message board in that we can agree to disagree. I have all the locker stuff but not sure I know which is the RTB version of Riad And for the record we are arguing about which mediocre song is better than the other. Every song on Appetite are better than these songs. And almost every song on the Ilusions are better than these songs.
  22. Absurd is not good. It’s just not pleasurable to listen to at all. It feels like a chore to listen to it. Hard Skool is a decent rocker. It’s better than Riad and scraped. The original version is superior. I like the long intro. I like the way it builds into the main song. Perhaps is a decent mid tempo rocker. I really like the piano breakdown near the end. I don’t know that Slash could do much to make it dramatically better. But none of these tracks are absolute bangers like the best CD songs or any of the really good early stuff.
