It's worth noting that SMKC are touring quite extensively thoroughout Jan, Feb and the beginning of March. I have a hard time believing GNR would drop a new record while Slash was on the road with his other band.

Probably just a crappy live album after all.

It would be great if they made every live show from the tour available for purchase, the way Metallica did it on their most recent tour.

Purchasing the specific show I attended (7/20/16, Foxboro MA) would be more of an incentive than just one random show, or worse yet, songs taken from a bunch of shows.

Me too. I remember me and my Buddy leaving school to drive to a record store called Strawberries to buy it.  The walls were covered in racks displaying nothing but thousands of LIES cassettes.. I also remember skipping out of school with a couple girls to go watch the world premiere of the Patience video on MTV.. Good times.

I got my copy at Strawberries as well

  3. I bought it on cassette the day it was released. If I knew then what I know now, I'd have purchased a vinyl copy as well.

Obviously, "Patience" is the standout track. It's a complete 180 from anything on Appetite, even "Sweet Child O' Mine". It was also unusual for Lies to be released when it was, because Appetite was still in the top five, and "Paradise City" had yet to be released as a single.

  4. Slightly early, as far as I can recall "GN'R Lies" was released on November 30th, 1988 (even though the date on the record's cover is December 6th, 1988).

I think it would have been cool if they'd re-worked the classic GN'R logo into some merchandise for Chinese Democracy, since that is officially 10 years old today, but perhaps the thought process was to appeal to the older generation who were teenagers, like myself, when "GN'R Lies" was released.

The hooded sweatshirt looks nice, but the other apparel...eh, I can take it or leave it.

  5. I never really liked the studio recording of Knockin' On Heaven's Door. I'd heard the live version from the '87 show in London on a Japanese import I'd bought in 1988; this is the same version that is part of the Super Deluxe and Locked N' Loaded sets. Always thought that was the best version. The studio version has none of the energy or raw power that the live in London version possessed.

Axl/GNR hate Trump...haha! *pointing at the fans who are Trump supporters*

I'm betting there's pictures of Donald Trump and Axl and/or members of the band from the late 80's or early 90's out there. If you were able to have a photo taken with Donald Trump back then, you did it.

It's like the old photos you see of Trump with Jesse Jackson, with Don King, with Mike Tyson. Nobody hated Donald Trump until he ran for President, then the liberal media labeled him as "racist" and "misogynistic".

Kind of like a guy named Axl Rose, back in the day.

  7. I ordered this from the Target website this morning. It's also supposed to be in their stores in limited quantities, but the two stores I visited both told me they weren't supposed to have them on the floor yet (as of 11/11). Doesn't make sense, because the red vinyl had been shown in their sales flyer the week before.

Anyway, it seems like a nice collectible for $29.99

Sorry for being so negative but I honestly can't stand Fernando. Every time I see him posing as some sort of big shot in the GN'R world it makes me cringe. And Melissa is so damn annoying. Such a childish little girl. Just pathetic.

I'm okay with Melissa. She does what she's asked to do, plus it's kind of nice that she's not viewed by the band or fans as "eye candy".

As for Fernando, I've never really paid attention. Would GN'R be better off with someone like Alan Niven or Irving Azoff? I think so, but it is what it is. Axl has that special relationship with Beta, and Fernando is part of that package.

  9. They've proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that they're one of the great acts of all-time, even with only 60% of the original lineup. The 'Not In This Lifetime' tour is going to rank as probably the second largest reunion tour in history, next to that of The Eagles in 1994. That said, there isn't really much reason to continue it into 2019, unless money is their sole reason for doing it.

Time to finish the tour, sit down and collaborate on some new music, and record it. Create some buzz in 2019 by teasing new music, maybe dropping a new tune into a movie, and then unleashing a full album in the latter half of next year. It's the logical next step, but as we know, the history of the band has been anything but logical in a number of instances.

I am so glad I didn't fall for the hype. Once a few weeks wore off I was good lol. Now I don't even want it at the discount price, but I do kind of want the new Metallica box set lol. This is going to have to come down more.

It really is a nice box set. The wooden box itself is very well made. With everything inside, it weighs about 40 lbs.

If we weren't living in an era where music is easy to find and download illegally, I think there'd be more of these sold, even at the $999 price tag. Yeah, there's more that could have been added that would help justify the price. As is, I think it's worth about $599, but I jumped on it when it was first made available. The band's music has carried me through a lot of crap in my life, and I wanted something special to serve as a reminder of that.

All I can say is "I told all of you so!" haha

They still need to drop another $300 off for me to order it though.

I am 100% certain that will happen though, so I'm good to keep waiting.

    :)

I think they'll be gone by then. I already bought one at $999, and I'm very tempted at $699.

Who knows why they didn't make this a Black Friday deal....maybe they have something else up their sleeve?

Maybe there's something about Axl that makes him angry when he hears of children being locked in cages?

Except that one photo that was used by the media this spring of a child inside a cage was taken in 2014, during Obama's presidency. Oh, and remember Elian Gonzalez, the kid who was taken away in a raid in Miami in 1997? Clinton's presidency.

I can see where your political beliefs lie. Do research before making foolish comments. The people flooding into America aren't given country club conditions at the border, but they have a roof over their heads, unlike homeless veterans who fought to keep America free.
