Yeh I was one of those suckers who dropped 1k as well. I stopped going to the site I would say morherfuckers every time I see the peice drop! All of us who purchased it at launch we love the box but we got ass fucked with a dildo with pieces of broken glass all over it. FUCK YOU UNIVERSAL! Also fuck me for being dumb enough to spend a grand!!!!!!
Call me dumb too, as I paid full price also. What disappoints me more than having paid full price was receiving a box that has a Certificate of Authenticity numbered 3,642 out of 10,000. The people behind the distribution of these box sets should have been smart and courteous enough to issue them in order starting at 0001.
I bought my set within 6 hours the first day they were available for pre-order, that should have gotten me a low COA number, not a random one.

I guess I'm the only optimistic one. I've been saying all year that I think new music from Guns N' Roses is coming sooner rather than later. I think it's very possible that there could be a new song released prior to the November 1st premiere of 'Terminator: Dark Fate'. It was on this very website that I learned Slash was recording parts at Axl's home studio at the end of April. My belief is that the short tour this fall under the "Not In This Lifetime" moniker is more of an unveiling of new music, where I think they could introduce as many as four new songs. I'm just putting the pieces together.
I have said it again, and again, and again. The band is keeping finished material under wraps so no one has the opportunity to leak it online in advance. It would not surprise me one bit if we woke up one day late this year or early next year to discover there's a new Guns N' Roses record in stores.

£32 for the rings!
They must be pulling all the unsold boxsets apart and selling the stuff for scraps haha. What an utter shambles.
Sure seems that way.
I'm glad I got another copy of the Super Deluxe for $40 on the last day of the sale (July 15), but I just received an email today saying due to the demand for them at that price, they won't be shipping it for another 3-4 weeks. Which means they sold out their original stock, and haven't been restocked yet.
To sell the book with the CD's/Blu-Ray for more than what the Super Deluxe was priced at earlier this month seems kind of ludicrous

As many of you may know, Guns N' Roses lore mentions that Appetite started rolling when, following Tom Zutaut's direct request to David Geffen, the Welcome To The Jungle video got to be "aired only one time around 5:00AM on a Sunday morning." (soure Wikipedia, Tom King, The Operator: David Geffen Builds, Buys, and Sells the New Hollywood, p. 430, Broadway Books (New York 2001).
Now, according to IMDB, the WTTJ video was released on monday september 28th 1987, so the to-be-disclosed sunday could be sunday september 27th 1987 but, if it were true, it would conflict with Tom Zutaut's statement that "the band threw a party while awaiting the early-hours broadcast. While the musicians and friends indulged in their rock’n’roll excesses of choice, Tom Zutaut bought “bucketloads” of cookies and milk for some sustenance. “Before the video comes on, maybe like 11 at night, there’s a knock on the door and it’s the LA Country Sheriffs,” Zutaut recalled."
Why does it conflict? Because on september 27th 1987 the band was already in, or on a flight to, Hamburg, Germany for the first show - september 29th 1987 - of the European leg of the Appetite for Destruction Tour, with Faster Pussycat opening.
I know that tecnhically the band could have flown to Europe in the afternoon of september 27th and landed in Germany on september 28th for 1 good night of sleep before starting the tour the next evening, so I have to check that one thing as well.
Coulkd it be another sunday though?- September 21st, the band was in LA fresh off the Cult tour;
- October 11th, the band was in LA fresh off the European tour;
- November 29th, the band was in LA fresh off the Mötley Crüe tour;
I'm just curious that such an important event in the ascent of GNR to stardom doesn't have a set date on it.
It was the video for WTTJ that prompted me to by the Appetite album. I can vividly recall buying the album on October 10, 1987, because I was at the mall looking for the album, and also looking for a gift for my mom, whose birthday is October 12th.
So it was probably a week or two earlier that the WTTJ video debuted (sometime late September).

Too many people must have been scooping them up.. L&L back to $499 and SD up to $99... I was just going to buy a fifth SD as another gift but oh well.. Glad I got the 4 I did at $40 bucks!
On Sunday, the official site stated the Super Deluxe was SOLD OUT. Then on Monday, it was available again at the $40 price, so I bought one more (I'd bought two on the 4th of July). Then on Tuesday, it was back to $99.98.
I wonder if someone at the site made a mistake by putting the Super Deluxe back at $40 on Monday, between Sunday being sold out and Tuesday back to $99.98. They haven't shipped my third one out yet. The two I bought on July 4th were shipped the next day.

I think Zakk was to push Slash- and to try to go for an even “bigger” sound as a response to grunge, Metallica, etc. Tobias meanwhile was probably a buffer/security blanket- as it was seemingly Axl v. Slash/Duff/Matt on most things by then...
My guess is that Axl was tired of Slash being strung out on heroin and other drugs, and bringing in other guitar players that could potentially play lead was Axl's way of saying to Slash "You are replaceable if you can't get your shit together"

The "alternate" version is the video MTV in America aired non-stop in the summer of 1988.
I don't know how that can be considered the alternate version.

I'd want the versions of "Civil War" and "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" with Adler on drums

$40 for the SDE is great. Congrats to those who held out and grabbed it.
I got one on Day One last year for about $100, and that's because I had a merchandise credit for about $60 for the store I picked it up at.
Bought two yesterday at the $40 price. Christmas gifts for my two oldest sons. Might buy another for my youngest son.
For once, Guns N' Roses are offering up something from their store at an unbeatable price.

The $399 price is back at the GN’R store if anyone is looking to buy one.
The Super Deluxe set is going for $40.
Yes, forty bucks. On the official merchandise website.
That is a bargain. I'm in on another one, maybe two.

Their music, lyrics, performances are second to none, they did some of the greatest tours and albums ever but they never got the respect they deserved, what do you think?
They went from being unknowns outside of Los Angeles in early 1987, to the biggest band in America by the summer of 1988. By the time the 'Illusion' records came to light, they were the biggest band in the world. It was the push by MTV and radio for grunge/alternative, as well as GN'R's own internal destruction, that caused them to lose that title.
The only time I would have considered Guns N' Roses underrated was after the release of AFD, and the nearly yearlong climb to superstardom. The album was just way too good to be ignored.

when it was "marked down" to $699 I immediately jumped on it, got it, looked at the contents once and it has essentially been sitting in that big heavy box in my den for the last 8 months
I got mine on Day One (6/29/18), and I don't think I've looked at it for at least six months. I keep it in the box, because I'm afraid if I display it, the faux leather will crack and peel from the humidity in my apartment.
$999 is too much of an investment to risk having the elements cause damage to it.
If it gets down to $199-299, I will almost certainly pick up another one or two, probably as Christmas gifts for my two oldest boys

Doubt it was written with band involvement (the cover is a photo from the UYI era), but it's 300 pages, and the timing is interesting with the band heading back out on the road around the same time

There's all kinds of merchandise at the official site under the category of "last chance", but none of it is marked down to move. That really makes no sense to me.
Also, I saw that the $399 plaques that were for sale a couple of weeks ago have now disappeared from the site. I wonder if they actually sold them, or sold so few that they pulled it to save face?

My hopes for a new album dwindle with every mini leg they add to NITL. The interviews will slowly start turning into “yeah, new music is happening, but we haven’t had time to work on it due to touring...”, just like the NuGNR era. It’s a shame.
I continue to have optimism about new music this year. The band doesn't have to sit around waiting for Slash to finish his solo tour first.
Besides, hasn't it been confirmed that Slash was recording some stuff at Axl's home studio at the end of April?

Slash almost died in 2002? Did I miss something? O.o
What year did Slash have the pacemaker put in?
It's well documented that Slash quit drugs for good in 2006, so if something did happen in 2002, it was either drugs, or when he had the irregular heartbeat going on

I hope Steven makes a complete recovery, and I also hope that it was an accident, nothing more.
His band was supposed to be playing near me on July 20th, and I had given some thought to going. There were "meet and greet" tickets available. I don't know if the show is still on at this point.

I was really looking forward to flying over from Europe to the Vegas shows. I knew it would be expensive but this is something else. 300$ for tickets at the upper balcony is just very depressing.
Maybe the ticket price comes with a copy of a new album. That's how Prince did it in 2004

I don't want anymore 'Not In This Lifetime'. The reunion phase is over.
I want a new record, not more touring with the same set list we've been getting for three years.
Unless the new record is called 'Not In This Lifetime', which would make sense to keep the tour name the same.

If I'm posting in the wrong forum, I apologize in advance. Likewise if this already has a thread going.
Trailer for 'Terminator: Dark Fate'. Movie's release matches up well with the GN'R festival dates.

I consider any new music going forward to be Guns N' Roses. Having Slash and Duff back legitimizes the name.

I don't think there's anyone from a band with 80's roots that isn't a friend of Slash
