Have you ever read The Dirt? That book was shocking because they would tell these insane stories in a nonchalant way like it was a typical Tuesday. I feel like all these rock and roll books have copied that writing pattern since. Some of that doesn’t hold up as well in 2020 though.

No. I did not read The Dirt. I am very familiar with The Crue and saw them in concert too for free. I worked at ,my college arena during my college years of 1980s. I like their music which is still good RockNRoll.   Did you  watch their movie, THE DIRT? Of course you did. It is running on Netflix. Funny, hilariously funny. Each of them, hysterically funny. Sadness for each of them . You felt sorrow for them all . They each pizzed you off too. Happy ever after ending too for each of them.  You felt  cheering them on.                                                                                   Their story of their life THEN  ,and was TRUE and yes it holds up.  It is not them today has not been for years ,years, seems like forever now.   From reviews here of Matts book, maybe he was trying to go like The Dirt, but he missed by not having the reader have all of those emotions for him and the end ,being on his side. Maybe he was trying to be like Gene Simmons , but that was Gene and for his fans, it is ok because He  is Kiss. He can do, say, go, etc. no wrong with Kiss fans. He- Owner, founder, decision maker, face of KISS. Matt is not in that position with groups of VR or GnR or The Cult.

  2. I am not  knocking any of you. I did not buy the book. I only read parts of Duffs, Slash, snd Steves. I have Mick Walls book which I figure is more neutral. @loke212  @Scream of the Butterfly. Did Matt have an editor, gosh like who? Like what publisher let this shyt go? You want  to sell books and not turn people off. Maty the child with the 7yr. old girl....wtf? Ewwwwe...OMG, I just threw up in my mouth. Adult groupies ,Heidies girls, Perla was a Madame , so what. No big deal.  This here though, ummm, nono. How old was Matt then, 7-9  years old...I hope? If he were older, preteen, 13ish ,oh boy,  that could have been ...nevermind.. He, a child of then 7 years old himself  would not have known  that 7yr girl was obviously sexually abused, but now as an adult he knows and that should have been left out of his book. A secret like that you take to your grave as the saying goes. Not good

  3. I am a female, 55. The groupies, girl who Slash n Izzy took turns on Heidie's girls , groupies, all ANCIENT HISTORY were not exploited ,innocents. Even then 19 year Ace, now Mrs.Sorum,  was not exploited. DesiCraft, whoever she was and whatever her real name was , was a  minor.  All ancient history.  YES, AGAIN  Matt needed to leave some of that stuff out. Ewwwww. He could have told it, keft dome of it, still telling, but make it funny. The Hedi girl oassed out on loods, stuck ,too funny. He did himself no favor. Maybe he could have left out when meeting Ace, her age. Write more about how he fell head over heels for the One and had changed to pursue her. Give the reader the awwwwww, Matt was in love and loved her and they got married, his happily ever after. Awwww.  He really needs to revise his book with a better editor.                                                                                                                                                                                       Make the reader laugh, feel empathy for  him conquering addictions, growing up to his age and times a long ,long time ago, his hurt heart for how baddie Duffy and Meanie Slash treated him...awwww, befriending Izzy, the 2 lil GnR all but forgotten castoffs, awwwww, but be so ,so very grateful to Axl,Slash esp. AND Duff, his groomsman,  GnR, VR.

  4. I don't get how you can dislike a bands members.  A band is a group thing.                                                            My post is not directed at  anyone in particular.                  Izzy is a flake...Stevens a fukc up...Matt is co cky .Your opinion. Mine. Her opinion. His. We all have one. I am not hating on any of the band.. My op on some things, Slash, Duff, Axl could have had Steve,Izzy,Matt and  6 way even spilt for one of the many legs of the American tours from over the 3.5 years 2016- 2019 of maybe 30 shows, if that many even on one American leg. Certainly, it would have not bankrupted Axl,Duff,Slash.  Certainly Steve, Matt,Izzy could have done about 2 months of shows, 30 dates. It would have a fan fav ,sold out, great pr, and dvd sales with $0.00 for Iz,Steve,Matt.   The cother people on stage would have been on break as they are hired staff.                                                                                                          DUFF,AXL,SLASH do CARE first ,foremost about grabing as much money as they could AND THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT. DUff revising 1980s made him look silly or senile. He needs not speak of it, but to try to Me too#, kind of silly. Fact some brought up, no band photos of the 3 of them. What does that tell you,lol and there is nothing wrong with that.. The other people on stage are just hired employees and their is nothing wrong with that. The tour was q nostalgic act of the hits of reunited UYI tour and there is nothing wrong with that. New music, I hate bursting oldies fans bubbles, hopes, but obviously,  the Big 3 dont want to do that. It is probably legally too complicated. No one of their majority paying audience wants to hear new music. No place like radio or videos for new music. Old people don't make videos. No one wants to see old people. No new music can compete with the music and times and times of AFD - UYIs. Old men cannot record new music, ewwww, of those times and things. I mean GnR. I dont their older fans or newer younger ones want to hear songs of pure, wonderful marital ballads, being a father, political songs, where the  guys are in real life. BTW, I am a Black American female aged 55 ,a fan from my college years of the 1980s.

  5. I agree with you both.                                                  Again. Balance and make it funny. Interesting. NOT DIFFICULT TO DO BECAUSE  his STORY CAN WRITE ITSELF. . The good, bad, the ugly.  Dont forget  THE MAIN REASON WHY, HOW he got  there.                                                                                                             Drummer FOR three, very successful big rock bands.*****  Whoever you are, whatever your job or career, that one big chance is the game changer.  It just takes just one.  He fell into The Cult band.  It could have been at least a dozen other drummers around the biz. Just great stupid luck, fate, God, a moment in Slash head, hey, I like that drummer from The Cult. Maty Sorum.  Before Matt knew it, studio for UYIs and tour, lol. Life game  changer up. Hmmm, VR, of course. Lucky here for them all because VR TOOK OFFFFFF like a rocket. Lots there I hope he wrote about how VR happened and how the business was so different.

  6. 9 hours ago, Free Bird said:

Slash and Duff didn't bash no bandmember the way Sorum does. In Slash's book even Axl gets praised at least as often as he gets criticized. Rock n roll books should tell your story but it's just a bad move to concentrate on your more successful bandmates and badmouthing them, just because your story wouldn't be interesting enough otherwise.

I get you what are saying. However, Matts pizzed about Duff sort of backstabbed him. I get that too. Matt has a right to tell his story. Unlike some of us beliefs, Duff,Slash, Axl are no more or less special than him. You said," bashing members who are more successful." He can and should badmouth them ,but when, how, why, where it was truth, neccessary.                                                                                 No I have not  read Matts book. The posts here from the few who managed to buy his book before it was pulled , it seems Matt needed BALANCE .Reader should  sympathy for him.  Rule. EVERY negative  true comment on The Big3, throw in a positive.  His talk with groupies was not that of a Harlequin romance fairytale novel. However,  it seems from reviews here, he could have toned in down truth in some places. Maybe not said about  breaking in newbies of Heidis girls by doing them, but just rating them on physical attributes, etc. then saying he took a sample or two.   Hmmmmm, leave it up to readers imagination. Two? Ha, yeah, I bet he sampled for free more than 2-3, lol

No, Matt wrote..... Ehhhhhhh. Tooooo much. Yuck.   Lol. The story about the  lood ,passed  out Heidi  girl with the buzzing vibrator  is just hilariously funny. He could have expounded.....said stuff like.....the buzzing was kind of working on his nerves. He was not sure if should pull it out or leave it, you know like an alarm clock to wake her up.                                                                                     Slash  talked on Howard Stern of  that Slash and Izzy shared girl story..The story went from ewwwww to funny with sympathy for poor Slash.                                                                                                   To me, from what I read here of others opinion of Matts  book, he should revise. He did not expound enough of how he got on all the bands he was with. Erase the bitterness  and rewrite it bittersweet. No. No one wants to buy a sweet  little storybook . Sex, drugs, n RocknRoll  is not Rated G.  After reading it, you should feel sympathy for him and have laughs.. The Slash- Izzy story. Lol, poor Slash. Even his herion addiction poor Slash following Izzy and even poor Steven following Slash following Bad Izzy. Awwww.. Slash made all the drug stuff kind of funny too.  You get what I am saying?

Lol I bet Duff is fuming about Matt letting us know that little nugget of info after all that hard work he put into his revised history interviews the last couple of years - “we never objectified women” but he married someone for her tits

Yeah, he went overboard in trying to rewrite history. They were POS, low life degenerates 35 years ago. Long ago. Decades ago. At 55-58, they have been clean and sober and in long term relationships or married and/ or fathers and everything years,,years.. 1980S, early 90s was a long time ago. That was then. Ancient history.

Thnx for the old, little gem. Yep, big boobs. Duff was messed up, ill, bleach stringy hair, etc. Funny, how someone, him, older today, but looks better AND YOUNGER TODAY than he did then. He really did well. Izzy looks good, normal in the last few pix we have seen of him. Granpa, but normal and normal is good. He looked REALLY  good from a few years ago at an art showing with his lady. She was not some young girl young enough to be his daughter type either. Good for him

Without Slash he would have never had half the career he made. Slash was the one calling him and invited him joining GNR. No GNR, no Snakepit, no VR and most likely no Camp Freddy or Hollywood Vampires. He seems to be mad because they reunited without him.

How come he is half his life in bands with those two guys he suddenly has so many bad things to say about? Why keep working with guys he obviously doesn't like or trust?

He is angry. Rightly so ,so he wrote a book.

Sometimes I really doubt I am a member of a forum dedicated to a rock'n'roll band. Like - are you really THAT surprised things like these happened (and don't be mistaken - still happen)? Are you really that disgusted or is it just a part of some new fashion of a virtue signalling? We're talkin about a rock'n'roll band here, aren't we? Not a fuckin' boy scout club. If these things were a part of let's say Lemmy's memoir you probably wouldn't say a word. Well, Matt was a womanizer and is speaking about it in a pretty open and honest fashion. So what? Much better than all this PC hypocrisy going around America and Western Europe. Let alone the fact he wasn't exploiting anyone. He just shagged women wanting to shag a rock'n'roll drummer, that's all.

    True.

I agree, he sounds like an idiot.  I get that rock n roll memoirs mention a lot of sexual escapades, but there is a bragging tone to this that is a real turn off.  "Young" girls?  Ugh.  You would have to a be a real moron to be quoted like this in the year 2020.

Agreed. He could have written about this shorter, funnier, and leaving out some details.I am not tender hearted or shocked rock star has secx with groupies.  How can anyone here criticize him ,but not Slash, Izzy.  In Slash book, he and Izzy both had secx, taking turns or not, with some pitiful girl and ummmm, Izzy " soiled" Slash.

Yeah . She does look like Izzy.

She did resemble  him back then .Definitely not her real name so wherever she is, she can be annonymous.. Yes he was with a 15 yr old girl, awful of him and worst of who did not care for her and thus she was probably a runaway. Enough said. Very sad. I really hope all those pitiful girls turned out ok. Highly doubtful. Izzy and the gang had God, if you believe, good fate, destiny, , good luck and good  people. the AFD 5 met up and had a record company and really  good people looking out, best possible ,for them in spite of themselves then. Pivotal life game changer for the better for them.

Ur not in a minority :)

The band reformed and they have every right to tour and bleed the tour dry for money, because that is what it's about. Once it dries up, you move on. For every person that posts here, there's a bunch of people that don't post and don't care and buy tickets, and that is what it's about

I get the forum views, forever will, because a lot of us have been here forever, but it is what it is.

Well  said. May I add, you buy a ticket and go or not. Your choice. Majority of ticket audiences dont know, dont care about deep cuts of GnR catalog. With your ticket  purchase, you got your moneys worth which was a good, live performance of the hits for  2.5 hours plus opening act.

  12. @Legendador.    I agree with your post except this one that many of us here  repeat of Izzy not in it for money or to be big. The rumors of Izzy never caring about, wanting to be in  with VR traveling in a van, playing clubs in Guns, never wanting for Guns to get  big so big, etc is simply not true. Izzy is loving and living life to the fullest as a  58 yr.  old man ,a multimillionarie over the 30 years  like the rest of them, EVEN Steven, and Izzy, like all of them can account for every milion down to the penny. :P. In the 1980s, Izzy like all of them, destitute.  From living in sqaulor, literally  shyting in a box, sleeping in TowerRecords parking lot, hungry, drug selling Izzy, Hel1 House shed,  then even during  and AFTER  AFD to now, ,.. the best medical care, best food, best of everything etc. Izzy in Ojai, CA. Axl in just Malibu. Slash lived in ehhhh, Beverly Hills predivorce. Even Steven lives someplace secure, untouchable ,lol.  I admire that even when AFD hit and they had issues, all 5 of them, they lucked out with good people around their finances. They lucked out in that they had time and the inclination to try to start figuring out, you are not destitute anymore. As they each cleaned up and matured and 1990s rolled, the 5 figured it out. To their credit, none of them, even Steven, got broke, filing lawsuits of mismanagement, etc. Damm, even Billy Joel lost tens of millions in bad business accounting swindled , but Guns  can count every million down to the dollar. WTF happened? 1990, never would thought who would lose money? Guns guys or BillyJoel.

  13. 7 hours ago, jacdaniel said:

The irony of that is that Izzy wanted the money!  And openly admitted he wanted equal loot.

I am not knocking you.                                                       I never understood that irony. Izzy,Matty,Steve, TheB3, like us,  all like money and have to pay the light bill .So Izzy should have taken the deal that was offered by the Almighty 3, degrade himself, and be ,not broke, but essentially, being playing on a 3 and a half years world tour earning nothing because what he would have earned would have gone to IRS, lol.  I read in MickWalls book, Izzy, rumor is they could have paid him $50,000 a show or was it a week. I like to think after projected estimates of profits and debts, there was no way to pay him what he wanted, deserved actually. I personally don't have "hate" for The B3, negativness of NITL tour, and  actually admire them. Money. Yeah. It is not a bad word. NITL, as some posted is really UYIs tour. People bought what they were selling like $568 million, lol,or so. Same of the silly merchandise.                                                                                                                  I think TheB3 missed a big money maker on NITL tour. Sold out shows, special shows , but bigger setlists. Some VR songs, hidden gems GnR songs, plus all the hits. Big expensive , flat ,one price tickets. Standing floor tickets only. Yep. Good ,safe pr for fans in bring in Steve, Matt, Izzy. No Frank and the rest. No Dizzy either. No issues with insurance because Steve could have been insured for health and Izzy for not disappearing.                                                                                                     American tour leg. 2 months. House of Blues GnR Reunion Tour.. Throw in a dvd from it. Throw in even a pay for view for one of them.

  14. I dont know howv to multiquote. MY TAKE. Matt is butt hurt. Money, well we all got the light bill to pay. Lol, Of course,  Matt is good for life financially,  but  it was : the band, songs, interviews, playing live a night to no less than 30 thousand people, arenas and 65 seat stadiums, the thrill of the work,  second chance to do this thing GnR right, clean n sober,. Ego. His wife and close friends to see him. I can understand. Then  NEVER thinking, Bestie Duff would  knife him in back. The huge pay I think was  bottom on the list. .Izzy doesn't give a flying fuk.c about any of them or their tour or their money   and will go there and fu.kc them all up  any  if they all want to mess with him. He ain't scared or groveling at any of them, esp AXL. Steve has finally grown up to be a man and  stopped groveling at them after he took some crumbs they threw at him.  That is my take on it. @Tom2112

  15. Uploading for Dummies.  Help. I cannot cut- copy - paste , take a picture, save in gallery, what  to put it here.  I want to post some things from MickWalls old book OF HIS NEW CHAPTER HE ADDED TO THE BACK. End Chap is called, Where is Izzy?  He has a good part about Steve and Matt. Tell me in pm how to do this or, send me your phone number. I'll just send you the paragraphs  I will  take pix  and you upload it here.

I only read the rest of his book because in the beginning there was a mix up at the hospital and his parents thought that maybe brought home the wrong baby and that he wasn't really theirs. He claimed that this would be really important later, but never said anything else about it.

Seems like bad editing. Bad proofreading. Bad note taking. Why was that  info about his parents thinking it was a mix up impt and later.....but he did not come back and write why? This would have the humor, something funny,  comical in his book., Were his parents and brothers were Math, Science  people and  nommusical? Was he so much taller than everyone? What?

  17. Matt  with his team  should just put his book out, catch as many sales$$  as it can..  Since his book was put out there on sale right before CovidVirus lockdown, some people bought the book. now, no one can buy the book..  He can still promote ....bad timing. Someone here said he bought Steves book when it came put at that for $1.00 bargain books. I think Duffs books are reduced. I doubt Matt' s will be a best seller thing.                                                                                        SLASH , his book is the only one of the group out there on line , still in print,  and in retail book stores.Ex. Any Barnes & Noble keep a copy on the shelf.                                                                                        If Izzy were to write a book, what do you think it will be  like? How well would it sell or not?  Like Matts? Like Duff? Izzy won't ever wtite a book, safe to say. I dont think it would be too much of his sexual, drug deeds 1980s nor a backstabber . I think it would sell same as Steve- Duff- Matt.                                                                                                                  AXL  - best seller, big promotion without him doing a thing,  resurgence  of interest in SLASH  book and more copies of his being sold. SLASH  could have his old book redited, and new CHAPTERS added to the end of the former book . Back on best sellers list.
