  1. I wonder if they’ll do 3 singles. I don’t wanna wait a month!
  2. I like it. Man, it just *sounds* good. Somehow these tracks have decidedly less of a cheese factor than SMKC does at its worst.
  3. Sometimes you kick around GNR land and it gets a little stale in 2024, and then you hear Axl's vocal run on Anything Goes in that intro clip, and it's like... oohhh right...
  4. I bet Gibson made it really easy for him to do, too. They probably greased the wheels quite a bit in getting everything in place -- it seems like a major initiative for them from a branding perspective, and to get their label off the ground.
  5. That snippet sounds so exciting. I like Happiness Bastards, but the production on this song sounds way better than that album. Slash should just join the Crowes at this point, though. Why the f not lol. Do an album and tour like they did with Jimmy Page. Slash in a stonesy context is way preferable to me than the quasi-metal shit he indulges sometimes (a pipe-dream, of course).
  6. Oh those snippets sound awesome. Great production sound. The female vocalists always seem to be hard to nail for Slash collabs, but I'll reserve judgement. Seem to easily veer into hammy land. Sounds like for Crossroads Gary is panned hard left and Slash hard right. I think I'm most excited for that track, even though it's been covered a million and one times... SOME GUITAR INTERPLAY, BABY. Slash's tone sounds perfect on it -- I was really curious how he would approach that song. It's meaty and growly and dry. Robinson sounds fantastic, too. I'm super excited now.
  7. Yeah I honestly didn’t like much on first impression (aside from the cool vid), but it’s grown on me. Slash’s solo is more interesting than I gave credit, too. I’m so used to his modern noodling I think I kinda tuned out first pass. Cool that he busted out the 335. Pusherman with Chris Robinson is over 7 mins long… should be ample room for some cool shit in there! Black Crowes circa 2024 doesn’t interest me, but Chris can still bring it.
  8. Dude it's crazy they refused it. Especially after all that Q-sound stuff in the 90's. I thought maybe its because it would cost them more money to release it somehow? A business decision? Deny the ATMOS and release The General... I wanted it for the isolated guitar stems -- when those came out from the AFD 5.1 mix it was a revelation. That and the Ritz 91 are my two GNR diamonds.
  9. There's no nostalgia for VR, and they'll never top Contraband as a cultural and musical achievement (not saying it's that great, but in terms of popularity, crossover success, winning a grammy, showing they could "do it again," securing a really lucrative record contract etc.). Libertad was a flop, the whole thing became poisonous between the guys (and their wives?), Scott is dead... Hell VR almost didn't get off the ground until Scott walked in the door. They'd probably never find "the singer" again at this point. And if they did, they'd probably be better off with a new name and clean slate.
  10. I thought it was a tasty little solo. Hard to dislike Gosling. The oscars are a pretty gross self-congratulatory bore, though.
  11. How could you disagree! I really enjoyed seeing the early SMKC in 2010, and liked it up to World On Fire, but I mean... four albums... the well has run dry. Myles has nothing to say lyrically or melodically anymore with Slash. Slash post-Guns is always best when he gets challenged with something fresh. Contraband via Weiland and Kushner, new singers on both Snakepit albums and the associated style shifts, the diversity of the self-titled, "Street Child." I hope he does a Slash 2 next and keeps it moving that way, do all kinds of weird collabs. Liam Gallagher, Jack White, Mustaine, Justin and Dan Hawkins, Eddie Veddar? Alicia Keys? F'n Izzy. Whatever! Keep mixing it the f upppp before the clock runs out.
  12. That's great. GNR should play it with Slash on slide, since he seems to be dipping his toes in that world. Skeptical that a song called "Metal Chestnut" would have piano on it, but maybe I'm narrowminded. Could be some major tone shifts during the song I guess! I doubt Axl would even do like a honky-tonk kinda thing.
  13. Bums me out to think the lack of Izzy is a reflection of the state of their rapport post-NITL. Maybe we need some kind of legislation to force them to collaborate one more time. This is what governments are for.
  14. I'm surprised Metallica hasn't done it during their sort of elder statesmen era that started with Hardwired. They currently seem to be the most quintessential American rock/metal band that hasn't broken up or declined too much in performance capacity. The Jungle/SCOM/Paradise City trio is tailor made for a Superbowl show, but I don't think they're there anymore in terms of performance quality (just my opinion). During negotiations: Axl: "okay so we'll open with Chinese Democracy" ... *uncomfortable shifting in seats* *lots of throat clearing*. It would have made a hell of a capstone stop on the UYI tour, though.
  15. It's just been Slash's go-to crutch phrase in interviews for a long time.
  16. Hopefully The Commodore — saw the self-titled show there in… 2010? So good! Better vibe than Queen E… or the Hard Rock, bleh
  17. I’ll be bummed if it’s just like the 12-15 obvious US cities. Blues Ball played clubs, wonder what venue size it’ll be.
  18. Thanks that's really cool -- I think that'd be super fresh to see relative to SMKC at this point. Sign me uppppppp.
  19. Not sure if I missed it, but who are the dudes in his band (in the video)? Who's on rhythm guitar? Are they the same on every track? Would they go out on the road? I wonder how he picked them. Killing Floor isn't really my interest, but I liked the video a lot. I want to hear Billy Gibbons, Chris Robinson and Paul Rodgers. Scott Weiland said that the initial VR demos sounded like Bad Company, so it's fun to get that combo :).
