I was 13, and got into GN’R in 1991-92, so I bought these first before anything else. Hearing YCBM on the radio hooked me, so I bought UYI2 on cassette first, then UYI1, and the rest of the catalogue a few months later.
So though I kinda remember AFD, from when I was younger, by the likes of SCOM and PC, I didn’t become the massive fan I am, until listening to UYI in the early 90’s.
I rarely listen to the albums these days, but back then, I think that’s all I pretty much listened to.
And unlike all these “it would’ve been better as one single album” comments that pop up when they’re mentioned, I for one am glad we got two full albums.
And while I like some songs more than others, Slash pretty much rips on every track he plays guitar on, from riffs to solos, and I love it all.
I’d hate to think on not hearing any of those songs, just because some people think it should’ve been whittled down to a single album.
GN’R had a grand vision with UYI 1&2, and I for one, absolutely love it.

Hard Skool is coming…
Only, it isn’t really coming, because the band refuse to play it…

It’ll just be a social media post, something like this:
“Happy UYI Fn anniversary, fam”

Well, what did you expect? A new single being released every two or three weeks from now on? I can't believe people are so naive. This is GnR, they have always done everything at their own pace, which means really slow. Back in the day there were usually months in between new singles. Why bother getting your hopes up every single time they do a show now and then getting disappointed? You should know better by now.
No, I wasn’t expecting another single, I was just expecting something ‘special’ as they promised, or at least alluded to.
Otherwise, what’s the fucken point of saying anything at all?

Starved fan base? They've released a new single a few weeks ago.
Ok, I’ll give you that. But you know what I’m getting at here.
One single new (20 year old) song in 13 years, and the first featuring Slash, Axl and Duff in 30 years, yeah, I’d say that saying we’re starved fans, is pretty accurate.

For instance, this show could have been special because the lead singer was playing in his home town. The rose emjoi placed at the end of the message kind of give it away.
Don't overthink the situation.
You then, start to look for things that don't exist.
A simplistic approach, tends to be the better approach.
The simple answer is, it was a special show for Axl Rose as he was playing in his hometown.
Please stop with the excuses.
They’ve been throwing breadcrumbs of useless info to an already starved fan base, so they have to realise that when they say something like that on social media, which their fan base follows, we may look into it as actually something out of the ordinary or different, or dare say… ‘special’
But alas, in typical GN’R fashion, we get nothing.
Battered wife syndrome continues…
Carry on then

Because of the actual concert goers and not for someone behind a Laptop
Stupid comment to make when most bands use social media to communicate with their fans, regardless of if they’re going to the show or not.
But why is this show pointed out to be any more special than others, when it wasn’t?
Because they seem to like dangling carrots of bullshit to their fans, that’s why.

Why did they post on social media that this show would be special, when it was no different to any other show?
Because they’re cunts, and like to mess with us.

This topic seems as pointless as combining UYI into one album. I’m of the mind that I’m glad we got two full albums of songs, even if some aren’t as good as others, rather than one album of the two.

Not sure if it was bands fault (pretty sure he just forgot to start singing) haha but he messed up the start of Chinese too.
How the hell does Axl mess up singing with all the damn teleprompters on the stage? Not to mention he’s sang these songs a bazillion times…

Ugh, Axl sounds pretty Mickey on the streams. He sounded better last show

Why the hell does everything always have to be so vague when it comes to GN’R? At this stage, it doesn’t add an element of mystery or excitement, it just annoys us, well, it annoys the shit out of me!
Just straight up tell us, or piss off already.

I watched a stream the other night and the dude had me dying. When Axl sings the extra vocals over Slash's intro lead he said "what the fuck, you don't sing there". Then when it came time to blow the whistle, Axl does it late now and he was like "that's not where that goes! come on man"
I hate that Axl sings over that part. Those intro licks are classic and shouldn’t have Mickey pissing all over the top of them

That was a better performance of Better by Axl? He sounded terrible. Time to retire that song, it sounds like it’s killing him trying to sing it.

The vocal 'mistakes' in scraped and in absurd are 100% intentional. people don't have to like them. But they don't slip through the net of several producers and the entire band and management after 3000 listens each. especially in absurd where it's every verse. The vocal has just been dragged back on pro tools by a beat. it doesn't overlap the previous line, it just immediately follows. Just studio trickery. I don't know why Axl would want that, that's pure speculation. But to suggest it's an error is more than ridiculous.
Axl seems to like running lines into each other where they’re not supposed to, see Slither for example, he sings “that’s the spot, whereyouruntomemightseesometypeofpleasure, in my mind”
And of course, in both instances, they sound ridiculous…

How good is it to have some typically Slashy Slash guitars on a new GN’R track? Even if it is a song from 20 years ago, with a ridiculous chorus, it’s great to hear him backing Axl again. Slash is playing some tasty licks on this, giving it that unmistakable GN’R sound.
I like that this song has some anger and venom to it too.

I just took a listen and don't hate it as much as I thought I would.
That’s the best we could expect for longtime fans like us.
I’m honestly mixed about it.
I’m trying to take my “it’s new GN’R so I’ll love it” glasses off and see it for what it is, and when I do, I’m wishing for a straight up rock album with Axl Slash n Duff. Not this shit…
But I do like that it’s an aggressive song, and Slash does bring that GN’R sound to it with the guitars, but the repeated “Absurd” parts sound rather absurd to me.

The one with the dinosaur was never confirmed to be real. Could've been from Mexico 2020 honestly. Not that it matters since it was basically the same anyway.
I hope they play Silkworms, just because it'll be hilarious to read Slash fanboys trying to explain how he made it better and 'more like GNR'.
If Slash does for Silkworms, what he’s already done for Hardschool, then absolutely there’s the chance for it to be better and more like GN’R.
Pussy full of Maggots FTW!

The seller claims the setlist was given to him by a crew member after the show. I see he has a good reputation on ebay, but I how common is it for crew members to give setlists to people?
Anyway, even if it's real, it can't be Silkworms
EDIT: I see it's been sold already.
Outside of the talk of Silkworms and Hardschool, is this really the “next chapter” and “all new show” that was promoted….? What a crock of shit

Here's the clip of Duff talking about the song for Jackie Chan's movie in 1996, if anyone hasn't seen it: https://streamable.com/raqznr
Is Hardschool the same song from back then though?
This recent soundcheck performance, sounds like a Slash and Duff type of rework, but that CD demo sounds nothing like what Slash and Duff would’ve come up with back in the 90’s.
So the question is, is the way Slash and Duff are playing it now, how it originally started, then it was reworked into a demo by nuGNR, or the other way around?

The proof is that the soundcheck version sounds different to the demo, so it likely has been worked on.

Slash is the man! Hardschool instrumentally sounds killer now, and closer to that classic GN’R sound. And is that Duff singing “too Hardschool” at the end?
I’m very impressed with the improvements they’ve made from that demo. Just need some great Axl vocals on top, and we have a great new GN’R track!

They weren't Grunge or Alternative, and that was all the rage at the time.
I dunno, I thought there were some songs on Snakepit that could’ve fit in with grunge at the time.
The overall sound of It’s Five O’clock Somewhere is quite raw and grungy, production wise. But I guess all things Slash and GN’R in 1995, were considered dated 80’s hair metal, and most rock fans wouldn’t give them a proper chance.

which song did he mess up (well the whole band did) on a most recent show (ie before covid)? I think they messed up dead horse and or locomotive. would have been nice if they released those lol
I think you’ve a greater chance at guessing which song they didn’t mess up…
Man, I really hope they’ve gotten their shit together for these upcoming shows

For the love of god, please, no more cover songs. Play actual Guns N’ Roses songs.
I think songs like Pretty Tied Up and Bad Obsession would sound good, and wouldn’t strain Axl’s voice, keeping him in the lower range.
