We will see soon how it sounds. Maybe it will sound killer and full, maybe they added something afterwards like doubling backing vocals or something.

If the songs are rehearsed and sounding tight, there’s nothing wrong with recording them live. 

I remember Slash saying in interviews in 2020 that he had the benefit of time to really work on songs with Covid lockdown. So don’t assume that just because it’s recorded live, that the songs are being thrown together on the spot.

Glad I got to see Roth with Van Halen back in 2013. What a night that was - Stone Music festival in Australia, Van Halen co-headlining with Aerosmith, and Matt Sorum’s Kings of Chaos on the bill too. Festival was poorly marketed, and poorly executed, but man… what a monster line up of bands. And I’m glad I got to see EVH shredding through all those classic tunes.

As for Roth, I hope he’s ok, but he’s implying that he’s not in the best of health either.

Probably because he’s so bored playing some of these snoozefest CD songs, that when it gets to the part with him playing some guitar on there, he just wants to shred 

If we’re talking both bands minus their singers, it’s sad to say, but SMKC all the way over GN’R at this point.

SMKC are tight as fuck and are an actual band that compliments each other. 

Guns, for the great players they are, just don’t gel or have that locked in groove. 

Even if HS isn’t played, surely they’d have to mention that its being released… right???

Russ, I absolutely know what you’re getting at, I’m just having fun.

But, I will point out that 12 hours ago, I saw Jarmo post on FB from his Here Today page, saying that the single would be out tomorrow (today), so he beat GN’R to the punch of promotion for this single…  

I really hope that GN’R do jump on and promote this and promote this properly.

Overall, I think it’s pretty damn great. Axl sounds great throughout, though I’m not sure he could pull this off live.

Axl trying to pronounce Ferrerrerrererrrer kinda sums up the stupidity of GN’R at this point.

If Axl insists on keeping him for his subpar drumming simply out of loyalty, at least learn to say his last name for fucks sake.

My two favorite memories involve just before and the day the albums were released. One memory is the first time I heard You Could Be Mine. 

My dad was a truck driver, so he had a car phone. And by "car phone", I mean the big black box thing that barely fit between the two front seats of our family van. My dad took the phone with him when he drove truck, but it would be in the family van when he wasn't on the road. We were reminded constantly to never touch it because calls were outrageous in price. So my mom was shopping in a store once and I was just sitting in the car listening to the local pop station. The car phone rang and I when answered my brother was yelling "TURN ON WRIF! TURN ON WRIF! THEY'RE PLAYING THE NEW GUNS N ROSES!". So I flipped over to WRIF and caught YCBM around the first chorus. My brother and I sat on the line together being like "THIS IS AMAZING! WHAT A JAM! OH MY GOD!". It was only after the song that we both realized we were going to be executed by our parents because of a $50 phone call lol. 

My second memory sucked when it happened but it's funny to look back on now, especially since my mom has passed away. The day UYI came out, I got my mom to take me to Sound Warehouse. There was a big floor standee with both CDs on it. I grabbed both and went to the register. When we got to the register, my mom noticed the Parental Advisory stickers. My mom HATED the F word and immediately asked me if they said it on the album. I was like "well they didn't say it on their first album" lol. 

She asked the guy at the register if they said the F word on the album and he looked at me while I was standing behind my mom. I gave him this look of desperation like "please say no, please say no, please say no". He said "they're really not my thing so I haven't heard these albums but I know Axl swears a lot in concert, so maybe that's what they mean". My mom confirmed that she could return them if they said the F word and the guy said no problem. 

BOOM. I finally owned UYI. 

Here comes the problem. When we got in the car, I was dying to hear new GN'R music. I'd already heard Civil War at some point. So I put UYI I in...... what a stupid decision LOL. 

So you know what happened about half way through the song. As it was happening I was like "noooooooo" and my mom said "this is FILTH" then she did a U turn right there in the middle of a very busy road. Like......action movie car driver style U turn LOL. The tires on the car were squealing lol. 

Back to Sound Warehouse we went. My mom went in, slammed the CDs down on the counter, confirmed for the sales person that they were, in fact, filth, then got her money back. 

So I owned UYI for approximately 2 minutes on the day of release. This was devastating on that day but again, I can totally look back and laugh at it now. I had a friend from school tape his CDs for me a couple days later, which I promptly labeled "Paula Abdul" and "Pebbles" (two current pop artists at the time) and only played with my headphones on.

Long winded post, but hopefully someone finds it entertaining. I'll post the video about the albums in general tomorrow

The story of returning the CDs with your mom two minutes after she bought them for you absolutely cracked me up!

Seeker sucks ass. Worst GN’R cover song ever. 

Pretty Tied Up would make a welcome addition because not only does it suit Axl’s lower range, but it’s something DIFFERENT in an already mostly stale setlist.

I always consider UYI1 Slash’s album, as it’s guitar heavy, aside from NR, and UYI2 is Axl’s album, featuring more piano, and of course ending with My World. 

So while I love both and Estranged is my favourite GN’R song, I listen to UYI1 more these days. 

Having watched the video Russ, on UYI2, the songs you don’t like - GITR, and Shotgun Blues, are two that I actually love. Even if the lyrics are kinda cheese, I absolutely love them instrumentally underneath.

I agree with you that there are too many songs I like for me to cut it down to one single album.
