Hey, can I just ask about <my town here>????
- 4
-
No.
They were just one band. I don't see why they would have that big an impact.
There is also still rock today. Just perhaps not stuff any of us really listen to. Because we got old.
-
This would only be a legit beef if you were arguing that if he stayed with his most recent line-up, there would be new stuff.
Since I don't believe that for a second, if its a case of picking between which guy I'd rather have on lead guitar playing the classic material, give me the guy that created it in the first place.
12 times out of 10, give me that.

Considering what we have seen released so far I would not hold my breath. Axl does not seem interested in releasing live stuff........
He had no problem releasing Appetite for Democracy.
But he's spoken openly about hating that tour.
Those of us that collect bootlegs certainly have no shortage of evidence that most night he was in a shit mood.
-
Videos from 2006 have absolutely no bearing on how Axl will sound this year.. He looks and sounds like a totally different person.
I agree. That's hoping for a best case scenario miracle.
If he can muster up 2010, we have to take that as a win and the best we are going to do.

I read somewhere in canter banter that mark canter said axl and slash were friends but that they were never "best" friends
This was always the vibe I got from those two.
-
Well.....
A madison sighting.
-
We should thank Duff.
I agree. He's the go between and facilitator here, I think.
-
I think "show up on time" could be one thing. It should be.
I think it is.
We all read Slash's book. He could not be more clear on this point at the very end.
There has to be some sort of assurances Axl will color inside the lines. I can't see them sitting backstage a half hour before the gig waiting for Axl to fucking chopper in from wherever. I think those days are over.

Only on Guns N' Roses forums are drummers considered completely expendable. Most 'great' bands possess drummers who are a vital component of their sound. I can only summarise that Guns N' Roses's fans are so acclimatised to randoms being switched around in a revolving line-up that they have lost that sense of a 'real band'. And really, the 'public only care about the Axl and Slash show' is not how I remember GN'R. Izzy is my favourite so you can take that philosophy and shove it where the sun don't shine.
Yeah, because Ringo was just as important to The Beatles as Lennon/McCartney, or Charlie Watts compared to Richards/Jagger.
Fact is, drummers serve a purpose, but the 5 minute drum solo in a live show is code for toilet break.
Watts is a HUGE part of the Stones sound.
Was that post serious?
-
I imagine it's a "working friendship", a la David Lee Roth and Eddie Van Halen.
Yep.
Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Eagles, Van Halen
The time they spend onstage is about all the do together anymore.
I'm fine with it.

"Axl Rose was supposed to be here tomorrow, but he won't be, for reasons known only to Axl Rose. Or maybe he will be here, and he's just trying to surprise us?" he was laughing the whole time.
Doesn't sound like Jimmy is super amused by all this, huh?
-
I think there is the same chance he didn't know about this as there was that he didn't know about that tour in 2001.
Zero.

As many of us have said over the years, Axl gets better as the tours wear on.
Why? Because he uses the concerts to prepare. Like an athlete "playing their way into shape".
Problem is, that really fucks people at the first few shows of any tour. If he gave a shit like he should, he would be ready for show 1.
My fear about Coachella is that its the first show. There will be a lot of attention paid to it. If the usual "early tour Axl" shows up that night, it won't be pretty.

Guys -
Why, exactly, would the Kimmel people want to be part of what would like some huge bait and switch?
You want to be associated with positive events. People will remember seeing Axl on Kimmel when he broke the news. That's good pub.
What the hell interest does Kimmel, or his people, have in being the forum where Axl went out and broke everyone's heart and pissed on everything. They don't want that association for all time.

$275 is rough. You could only charge that the first time.
Right now, they can capitalize on the fact that no one ever thought it would happen, and it could be your only shot.
If this goes well, and they keep touring, it won't be in stadiums. It will be at arenas at slightly more reasonable prices.
-
I donno, to the few who are talking about Axl's appearance... How was your morning run?
I get your point, but are any of us about to charge people $275 a head to watch us do our jobs?

Well, I would much rather take a "reunion cash grab" -tour, than a "new Gn'R cash grab" -tour.
(Disclaimer: I like new Guns too, but if you're not moving forward with the band musically and your playing classic hits -setlists, then why not reunite and play those setlists with the people who wrote those songs?)
Spot on, right here.
-
Stadiums seem ambitious to me as well.
I think they are in that middle ground where they could draw more than an arena could hold, but not quite a stadium.
Say, 30 to 35,000.

Shut up man. It's 2015 not 1988. Some of you are hilarious still holding onto this ideology of not "selling out". Just keep reading your comic in mom's basement then if you're so against making money.
Exactly.
-
Indeed.
09+ is where the consistently out of breath bit crept in and became the norm too.
The poor performances of recent years are more from laziness (IMO) than physical limitation.
Agreed.
And I'd love 2006 vocals too, but that might be one miracle too far.
-
To people who are never satisfied with anything: AIDS line-up.
To the rest of the world: Slash and Axl. Duff is the cherry on the cake.
Yep, yep.
-
All the talk of who is in any reunion line-up or what is any setlist are all secondary to me.
Because #1 is Axl best have spent the past year getting himself back in shape. Not 1992 shape, that's unrealistic. But 2010 shape should not be that big a stretch.
All the Slash and Duff in the world won't mean dick if he still sounds like garbage.
-
When the band -- or whoever is the clown behind GN'R's social media -- posts about us needing a bit of patience, and assuming they are coignant of the massive rumours about a reunion spreading, they are either actually implying we will hear news about a reunion soon, or they are being jerks for deliberately posting ambigious posts that will obviously further stimulate reunion rumours.
No news is good news, remember.

I doubt it.
You'd want to advertise the original 5 if you could.
