  1. So I'm wondering...When Duff's wife posted a pic of the original GNR lineup on November 1st, with the caption "November 1st afterall..." were they previously told that come November they could talk about it? As in, that's when the official announcement would be made? Would make sense that in typical GNR fashion, the announcement has been delayed a bit.

    Just spitballin'...

Would be par for the course, huh?

The people crapping on this are nuts. We have spent 15 years dealing with Axl and a bunch of guys named Harry playing Guns N' Roses songs.

THAT, you could tolerate...but THIS, you can't?

    Please.

  2. TB will be just Axl's personal assistance/manager, there is no way they will be able to control Slash and Duff. There will be a lot of lawyers and paper work involved IF any sort of reunion happens.

I agree. Each guy would retain his own current management, I suspect.

  3. That's a very interesting theory. It's like sportsmen... people as Federer will only give their best when they're really motivated and when it does matter (big tournaments). If a reunited GNR became huge and started playing in stadiums with a lot of attention from the media, I'm pretty sure Axl's energy and motivation would bring something amazing.

In the last years, Axl went through the motions, unmotivated by nugnr. That state of mind can change if GNR becomes successful again.

Utter nonsense. The Federer part that is.

Yeah, does this dude even watch tennis?

    Completely false.

  4. I'm all over this. I love Dr. Dre.

But, to be honest, I think his stuff with N.W.A. is his worst stuff. Can't diminish their impact and influence, obviously.

But it terms of the merit of the material? Doesn't stand up with Death Row.

  5. Hahahaha! If you had told me in 1995 he'd release only one album and not until 2008 and only properly tour 3 times between 1995-2015 'd have said " WTF? Get outta here with that shit. That would fucking suck!" Now in 2015 I'm saying "WTF was that shit? That fucking sucked!"

Whether it was then or now the scenario that unfolded is a joke. It would not have been an appealing scenario back then and it sure as hell is't an appealing or even remotely satsfying scenario now.

    Absolutely right.

Also add in that when he finally dropped that album in 2008, he would do it under the cover of night, and never really stand behind and give it the best chance to succeed. That it would be a total half ass operation.

This is how beaten down we are as a fanbase. We try and sell ourselves this was a great outcome....you know, if you think about it.

Why do we as a fanbase always have to convince ourselves things look good, just so long as you only use one eye and squint heavily with the one that's open?

Can't it just be good, on its own? No caveats? Or, at minimum...competent?

  6. The NFL runs that halftime show like a military operation in terms of timing and conformity.

If they didn't make exceptions for the Rolling Stones or Paul McCartney, they aren't making them for Axl Rose.

He would also have to show up for a rehearsal or two.

There couldn't be a Bridgeport, MTV music awards or Rock n Rio situation where Axl showed up unprepared.

They also demand you do press.

Could they get away with just sending Slash and Duff? Dunno.

  7. This is the greatest film ever made.

    Well, not really.

But in terms of an action flick, it has very few peers. The action scenes are just out of this world. And considering how little director George Miller uses CGI, you almost wonder how people weren't straight up killed making this thing.

The movie's look is awesome. Miller is great at creating these amazing landscapes, and this one is no different. The compound in 'The Road Warrior' was bested by the look of Bartertown in 'Beyond Thunderdome'. And here, a new bar is set with The Citadel (the bad guy's homebase) and the chase scenes in the Wasteland.

Acting wise, Charlize Theron is the best part of a strong cast. She's great. Best female action character since Ellen Ripley of 'Alien' fame. Tom Hardy might not say 100 words in the entire film. But that's not new. Max only has 16 lines of dialogue in 'The Road Warrior'.

There will absolutely be a sequel because the reviews are off the charts with effusive praise and it will make money. Miller also already has the next one written. Honestly, it doesn't set up for an obvious sequel, but one will happen nonetheless.

Go see this. Go see it in the theater. And spring for the 3-D.

  8. I don't think he's ruined the brand one bit. He worked hard to keep the brand alive. Even Duff said that man...

He didn't do anything with the brand, good , bad, or indifferent.

To everyone but us, GNR broke up 20 years ago. Anything Axl has done in the meantime has certainly not added to their legacy, but I don't think its really detracted from it either.

No one considers this Guns N' Roses.

  9. So he left the band because he was tired of late starts, having to shuffle his own personal plans around at the last minute to ease GN'R, having a huge band managed by people with little to no managerial experience, playing off the same album for six years (even longer if you count 2006-2007), and playing second fiddle to a guitarist who would be dicey to have on-board as a rhythm guitarist much less a lead guitarist?

And people think Ron is the "bad guy?"

Some of his beefs are absolutely legit.

But he is as un-savvy when it comes to P.R. and handling media as you will ever see.

  10. I guess for someone who doesn't watch much of the recent performances, it doesn't seem as much of a great performance as it would to people who have. Especially if he'd be comparing it to Illusions-era level of performances, instead of Chinese-era performances.

Personally, there are a few key moments here that I love, but overall it's not something to get crazy excited about. I went nuts the first time I watched it, but the more I watch it, the less excited I get. :shrugs:

I would be in this camp.

I think the performance is pretty good. But more so when compared to the horror show we were seeing in the South American clips from 3 months prior.

  11. Of course he blew it.

2001 Rio 3. 150,000 people are shitting their pants. He plays five new songs and has wacko hyper talented people like Buckethead in his band.

2014 he plays the same boring setlist in a casino in front of 1.000 people with Cashba and a bunch of strippers.

Something has happened in the interim?

The album made zero impact. No one but us can tell you a song off of it.

Some try and church it up about how "complex" it all was, but the simple fact is that people did not care about it.

You can stop the band's history in 1994 and still tell the relevant story.
