  1. If only he would treat his fans with as much love and respect..........no hate just stating reality.........

Not quite sure what else you are looking for. GN'R tweet all the time keeping fans up to date. The band members tweet all the time and talk to fans through FaceBook as well. Hell, Bumblefoot has even gone so far as to keep the Ron's Beard thing going as a running joke with the fans. Ron posts pictures of the fans to tag themselves in after each gig!!!

What are you looking for? Personal messages from Axl himself?

I find his going onstage late at Reading and Leeds after having being warned about the curfew and having the plug pulled and walking off stage for 45 minutes a slap in the face of fans and inexcusable and I also find the whole tour cancelled cracked tweet fiasco where there was no official statement as to the tour status a lack of respect for fans who had made plans and laid out big $$$ and did not know what the fuck was going on...

I think our old friend John Bonham summed it up pretty well in a post titled "Why Does Axl Hate His Fans?" on the other GnR forum..and I quote

    It's not time

    -no leaks

Are you retarded? What's this got to do with the band?

I know you're quoting someone else but those are some of the most asinine complaints I've ever heard.

GN'R going on late is old news.

Some may not be valid complaints but many, you so easily dismiss, are valid points...If you are happy with what Axl gives you then good for you but many of the things JB has asked for are standard fare for most bands who value their fans...I will repeat what I said earlier Axl gives his fans next to nothing other than one average album which took 14 years to write and release and an occasinal tour...Other than touring once in while what else has he given you? the answer is nothing............Even the bands official website is joke...no new music, band members who are afraid to give us real news. and sporadic tour dates.......you know why Axl treats you like this?? because you all put up with it and hope for the day King Axl throws you a bone....

Duff hit the nail on the head in this interview

HF: Why did Axl become so egomaniacal and arrogant?

Duff : Because many people around him maintain him in that state of mind. They kept telling him he was right. Some of them feared him cause they were scared they were gonna lose their job. It’s as simple as

that. I don’t want to do anything that goes against what I am now. I’m honest with myself and with thepeople surrounding me. Had I stayed with Axl, I would have acted against my personality. And nothing

worse could ever happen to me. In this story, the real losers are Guns N’ Roses fans, unfortunately.

You can dismiss Slash as being biased if you want but Duff is the real deal and probably the most objective ex band member...some times the truth is hard to face............

BTW you lose your credibility by debating a point by insulting the other poster...you seem to have some legitmate points but you will not get them across by using insults...........

Why are you looking for music 2 years after the first album came out?

Look at Tool, who are on a 4-5 year cycle. Is two or three years that big a deal? Right now they're touring with the album out for the FIRST TIME. The other two tours they couldn't even play all the tracks because there was no final tracklist, and for fear of bootlegs etc.

The album did not take 14 years. Rebuilding the band, legal matters, relationships, building a studio, building chemistry - that took 14 years. People who think the band literally got together in 1998 and started writing the album that came out in 2008 are deluding themselves. Oh, yeah, and that's technically 10 years, when you consider Duff left in 98.

Stop looking at numbers. Stop expecting the band to do exactly what YOU want. That's not how life works. This is not Burger King. You're not going to get it YOUR WAY.

Duff has his opinions, Slash has his, Axl has his. None of that matters. There is not going to be a reunion. There will eventually be another album. Currently this band is on a massively successful world tour. Asia/Canada/South America was in the top 30 or whatnot for tours this year, with the sellouts in Europe this will no doubt continue. Bandmembers are tweeting like mad, giving interviews, talking to fans, and you're complaining about what? No new album when this is the first proper tour since CD was released?

I also love how these complaints come up in a thread about an opening act praising the band. Why here? What does this have to do with Helmet saying nice things? The point here was, all the people talking shit about GN'R, Murderdolls, Helmet, Danko Jones, Nazareth - they've all said the band is super awesome to be with. Suddenly this becomes a reason to complain about no new album, or the fact that Axl didn't personally cook your dinner and tuck your kid in at right?

I've never seen a fanbase more demanding of a group. I know, Chinese Democracy was a long wait - but it's out. The ball is rolling. Let the band tour already. And don't expect new music til this tour is done. Which will likely be late 2011 at the soonest.

P.S. sporadic tour dates??? I refer you back to Tool, my other favorite band. THAT is sporadic, they played like 12 gigs this year :P GN'R has been touring almost all year. That isn't sporadic. This is a very large tour. I mean by year's end it'll be what, 70+ shows?

  2. lolla was not the right setting for that band, and frankly, I don't think the lineup would have had enough chemistry then.

I think a lot of people, while complaining about the years it took the album to come out, overlook the fact that Axl rebuilt a BAND. It took time for the chemistry with Tommy, Chris, etc. to kick in. Really it's been slowly stabilizing all this time and I hope this current lineup sticks together for years to come.

  3. If only he would treat his fans with as much love and respect..........no hate just stating reality.........

I know you're quoting someone else but those are some of the most asinine complaints I've ever heard.

GN'R going on late is old news.

  4. So Danko Jones, Murderdolls, and now Helmet - all having nice things to say about GN'R. You know the majority of press outlets won't pick up on any of these stories (especially rock outlets like Blabbermouth who prefer the negative spin) but it's cool to see.

    http://www.caller.com/news/2010/oct/01/helmet-happy-to-be-on-more-congenial-tour/

CORPUS CHRISTI — Helmet’s first tour in support of its new studio CD, “Seeing Eye Dog,” will be a headlining run that continues through Nov. 5.

Frontman Page Hamilton said he remains open to opening for other bands on tour, despite a couple such outings that didn’t work out. A tour with Marilyn Manson years ago was one especially sour experience.

“It was a terrible match,” Hamilton said. “I just had a miserable time on the tour.” Hamilton said the Manson fans made it very clear that they wanted to see the main act and were not interested in watching any other band.

A recent support slot with Guns ‘N Roses was a more positive experience. “Axl asked for us,” Hamilton said. “And they treated us great, and we had an absolute blast and I would do it in a heartbeat again.”

  5. In case you guys are forgetting, Arnold did show up in Terminator: Salvation albeit in camero/CGI form, and You Could Be Mine was in it as well.

And, as mentioned, Paradise City was licensed for The Expendables trailer.

And that's pretty much the only movies he's done since he took office, except maybe the cameo in The Rundown.

  6. What I'm expecting/hoping for:

Another European leg including Germany, Poland, Greece, Turkey, and other countries that didn't get dates on this leg.

US Tour with a strong support act and decent promo. I would say arenas, because the late start times are harder in Ampitheatres.

    New Zeland dates

    Mexican dates

    Maybe some more Asian dates

    Maybe South Africa

Keep in mind that this is THE Chinese Democracy tour. The is the tour for the album that really matters. 02, they played a few songs, mostly old stuff. 06, a few more songs, stronger band overall (Sorry buckethead fans, I think he's an awesome player, I'm talking chemistry though when on stage), and this year... this lineup blows everything off the stage since the original lineup.

So... I expect probably another year of touring. It wouldn't shock me to see this tour go a full two years.

What I would love? New music right at the end of that... but I'd understand fully if the band took some time off after this tour.

Still... the clock is ticking and I really think getting something new out - even just a single/soundtrack song - would rock.

  7. What a shock, the usual suspect drones on and on about the same topic - the name.

This issue has nothing to do about the name, and everything to do with Axl's perception in the press. The media would rather take jabs at him, because he had the "gall" to call them out, ignore them, or simply tell them to fuck off.

There aren't very many artists who go that route any more. The entertainment and music rags grew and grew getting unprecedented access to celebrities in the late 90s/early 2000s. Axl was one of the few holdouts, and there's still bad blood between the old journalistic crowd there. In the later part of the last decade, things shifted so that websites were the primary source for tabloid news and gossip, and Axl isn't going to win any positive reviews there - they survive by trashing celebs. It's lose-lose: the tabloid circles don't care anyway and get more traffic, and thus advertising, via negative press, and traditional media has historically butted heads with the band.

I will say - the press in Canada during the tour was mostly positive, as was the word of mouth.

And not a single casual fan I know was expecting Slash.

  8. I suspect it's a combination of things: This is a great time for a big rock show to be touring Europe - summer festivals are over, so less competition. Traditionally, Europe has been more accepting of the new lineup (in fact, anywhere but the US has been). The album is finally out, and a lot of these places, GN'R haven't toured before, or haven't toured for a long time. The show in Romania - wow, spectacular turnout!

Also, I think word of mouth on the shows, from Asia, Canada, and the first European leg, has been pretty positive. The band has been tight and you can see that on YouTube etc. Nevermind the incidents/bad press, this band has always had that.

The guys should be very proud of this tour. Here's to hoping there's plenty more to come!

  9. The pace is shit when it still hasn't been to the United States. :shrugs:

It'll get there. Right now it just makes more sense to tour Europe - look at the number of sold out shows already. Build some steam, wait for the economy to improve a bit. This summer was a disaster for tours stateside. They were wise to wait. Even though it's just a year, hopefully it'll make a difference. I'd expect a tour of the US for late Winter/Spring/Early Summer if I had to guess.

I'd actually love to see that Korn/GN'R pairing as well. Korn can draw a few thousand fans on their own. That'd be a bill I'd travel down south for (since they already did a Canadian tour, I don't expect them back so soon).

  10. GNR WAS IZZY

Yes, Axl is the greatest front man of all time, but those songs...........were from IZZY. Without the songs....

IZZY was the pixie dust.....we can all write music......IZZY wrote classics.

this is why the down by the ocean song interests me since izzy cowrote it and the new guys most likely worked on it from what axl said

Agreed, can't wait to hear that, hope it sees the light of day!

  11. So, a guy who was fired as manager of the band essentially because of Axl is against Axl calling the band Guns N' Roses. Gee, no hard feelings there or anything.

He's got every right to feel that way, I'm simply don't agree.

Also, to say that Tommy is supposed to look like Duff, that's crap. Not even close. For that matter, Tommy has been in the band since 1998. That's 12 years! It's not like Axl went out and hired a bunch of lookalikes to put on a tour this summer, which is kind of how Alan is making it sound. Who's Ron supposed to look like? DJ looks nothing like Slash other than wearing a hat which he had before joining this band, and wait - where was Alan when Finck and Buckethead, who looked nothing like anyone, were in the band? The only real physical comparison is Richard, and Axl was very upfront about that. Plus, stage moves??? Wtf? I don't recall Slash climbing shit in the past.

    It's a lame argument.

Even his argument about Weiland is a bit lame. Weiland is a perfectly good songwriter when it comes to lyrics, I have no idea why he would question that (I do agree about the drugs though).

  12. Would be a great idea really. In 93 the skin n' bones tour they did it and it was ace. I would like to see that myself.

Play some like that then come back with a heavy tune right after, would be a nice break for them and the crowd before another onslaught!

I love the idea of them doing an acoustic tour actually, never mind just a portion of the show - but I'm not sure they could do it in arenas, and I'm not sure it's financially viable to do it at the threatre level.

The band at least needs to finish off its main tour first though before trying something like that. I still suspect we'll see a Mexican tour, U.S. tour, German tour, and maybe even some more Asian dates - there's a bunch of cities and places they haven't hit there yet (Japan alone you could easily do shows in Sapporo, Fukuoka, Sendai, Yokohama, and maybe Kanazawa, Kumamoto, even Matsuyama - heck GN'R have only ever played on Honshu, not any of the other islands that I know of, and they're rabid music fans. By next year you could even do another Tokyo show, or do Chiba again like 07).

Yeah I'm a bit eager for that, I have a friend who might be moving over there soon and would love an extra excuse to visit next year ;)

  13. Motley Crue singer Vince Neil says he has "never really had a voice" in all the tales of his three decade career fronting the hard rock band.

But his attempts to finally set the record straight in an autobiography chronicling years of sex, drugs, plastic surgery and numerous arrests, have already landed him back in trouble.

Neil, 49, lashes out at bandmates and attempts to settle old scores with rock rivals in "Tattoos and Tequila", to be published on Thursday.

He has also set off a new feud with music manager and "America's Got Talent" and "X Factor" judge Sharon Osbourne, the wife of former Black Sabbath singer Ozzy Osbourne.

"It really sickens me today to watch everybody fawning all over Sharon Osbourne," Neil writes in the book, recalling a 1984 tour when Motley Crue opened for Ozzy and Sharon was running an especially tight ship.

"This is the most evil, shittiest woman I've ever met," he added.

Osbourne shot back with some choice words of her own.

"He (Neil) has murdered somebody in a car," Sharon Osbourne told the New York Post last week. "He crippled two other people and he is still driving drunk. And that is why I used to keep my husband away from him."

Hanoi Rocks member Nicholas "Razzle" Dingley was killed in Neil's car when Neil was driving drunk in 1984, for which he served a jail term.

Neil was arrested again in June in Las Vegas on suspicion of drunk driving, a week after he released a solo album, also called "Tattoos and Tequila" -- a set of classic rock covers.

    HARSH WORDS FOR BANDMATES

Neil told Reuters he doesn't like talking about himself. But he wanted to give his side of the storied history of the band, which has sold about 25 million albums in the United States alone.

Motley Crue released a best-selling band biography called "The Dirt" in 2001.

"There's been so much written about Motley Crue. I've never really had a voice", Neil said of his autobiography.

"This was my experience with Sharon 25 years ago. She was not very kind to Motley Crue," he added in an interview.

Osbourne is not the only target.

Neil, who split from Motley Crue in 1992 and rejoined in 1997, keeps some of his harshest words for his bandmates, whom he has compared to siblings with whom he feuds.

He faulted bassist Nikki Sixx, drummer Tommy Lee and guitarist Mick Mars for not supporting him following the 1984 car accident, and disputed their account of the events that led to his 1992 departure.

The book also seeks to settle scores with old foes such as Guns N' Roses singer Axl Rose. Neil reiterates a challenge to Rose to a boxing match that he issued in 1989 after an infamous backstage brawl at the MTV Video Music Awards.

On the sleeve of his book, Neil wrote, "Old rock stars fall hard." But Neil said the hard living has been worth it -- with the exception of the shame he feels about Dingley's death

"I don't have any regrets. Anything that I've done wrong, I've learned from," Neil said.

Neil will spend the fall on tour in support of his solo album and the book. He said Motley Crue plans to start rehearsals early in 2011 for its Crue Fest 3 festival but has no immediate plans for a follow-up to its 2008 hit album "Saints of Los Angeles."

    Article: http://uk.news.yahoo.com/22/20100920/ten-uk-vinceneil-3334b85.html

More information on the specific passage when the book is published :)

I think Sharon's a cunt, but Neil is an absolute tool. Oh, you learned from your mistakes Vince? That's why you were busted AGAIN for drunk driving recently.

This guy signed a 100 million, 3-album, 3 tour deal with Live Nation. Given there's four of them, his cut is 25 million. He could afford a driver, if he really wanted to get loaded.

And apparently he's ready for celebrity boxing. Maybe he should try celebrity rehab first.

Notice how the GN'R guys tend to drink a ton but DON'T drive around hammered after it?

  14. So, I keep noticing multi-day breaks between shows. More so than in 2002 or 2006. Downtime, not as much happening for us fans online, but probably a lot better for the band, as it gives them a chance to really see the cities they're hitting, and allows Axl to rest his vocal cords. Anyone else notice this? I'm hoping this trend continues whenever they hit North America again.

  15. The Guns n' Roses Concert was Fuc*ing Amazing!!!!!!!!!!! Don't come to me saying that Guns n' Roses without Slash and Duff don't worth it, because that it's not true!

Axl Rose have a great band with fabulous musicians! And i'm still there...my brain doesn't want to come back !

Glad you had fun :) welcome to the board... you may find this post gets merged with the other thread about the show btw.

  16. according to the promoters, which made this official press release

    http://life.hotnews.ro/stiri-prin_oras-7792606-guns-39-roses-bucuresti-detalii-acces.htm

Danko Jones band goes on stage at 19:00, and Axl Rose and colleagues on at 20:30. :rofl-lol:

it's not allowed with any form of video recorder cameras. it's also on every ticket.

I guess they're in time, somewhere in the '90. :D You really scarred'em Axl, you did!

it's not like I care, 'cause didn't want to photo or film the show anyway, just to live it. and from time to time to update this topic.

but, as I said, I"m bringing news (well it's 4 days old) in.

I saw Alice in Chains/Deftones last night.

The venue has signs up all over saying "no cameras"

most venues say this - it has nothing to do with the bands. Look at the secret gig, there were tons of cameras right in Axl's face, I don't think he cares unless the person is a complete ass about it or they're trying to take professional shots in the midst of a concert.

  17. I agree. Slash or no Slash, Axl is at his best singing raw rock n roll. Even in the Paris show, his voice sounded amazing during Whole Lotta Rosie. The more raw and less produced the rock, the better Axl shines. Less is more with the production.

    I kinda agree with that.

I love This I Love, November Rain, etc... but Nice Boys, Whole Lotta Rosie, Reckless Life, Nightrain - it really does have something special on those at times.

  18. Just back from gig. Crowd was dead. There were a few half-decent moshes during YCBM, Nightrain n PC (PC had the cool extended intro they tried for the first time at the L'ARC gig), but that was it. It was a real shame, Axl really tried to get the crowd going during KOHD but they were so quiet. It didn't seem that they weren't enjoying it, just that they had quiet reverence for the band (appropriate for Switzerland I guess :P ). Bercy was MUCH more vibrant (the reviews which said people didn't move in Bercy were bullshit, the atmosphere was electric that night). People didn't move to Better, let alone CITR (great performances of both songs though, 3 gigs and I've heard CITR both acoustic and electric :) ). People I spoke to afterwards said they enjoyed the show, so I guess it's just a case of the Swiss being calmer during gigs. Still, I had a great time which is the most important thing ;) (though obviously NOTHING will top the L'ARC gig). Some chick kept trying to grind on me during Murderdolls. I got rid of her by the time the main act started. I had my eyes on a 48 year old biker-tached ginger dude. Nothing gets in the way of my Axl Rose enjoyment. NOTHING.

I should probably seek professional help :P

Choice quote: Axl, just before Better: "Just because I'm hungover doesn't mean I get to go home early..."

Sounds great, glad you had fun, you're one lucky bastard between the shows and the secret gig... and seriously, get that help! ;) You passed up on a concert chick! ;)

  19. JESUS FUCKING CHRIST, WHO CARES HOW BIG HIS HEAD LOOKS IN SOME CANDID PICTURE???!?!??!!? Fuck, this place gets more juvenile by the day. Why don't you all post some candid pics of yourselves so we can point out all of the flaws????

    There's 2 different perspectives here:

Does it affect whether you like the man/the band?

If it does you have an issue, and it's wrong.

But if his head has swollen up unnaturally and he looks a little bit scary, like in the pic people are discussing, then do you really expect people not to notice or mention it?

You might not care but it seems that a lot do.

The fact is he seems out of shape and when you compare him to the last tour the difference is drastic. there are a few (probably those that have only seen him on this tour) saying he sounds "better than 2006/7" which is obviously a complete lie. Now it could be that age is catching up with Axl so his vocals are naturally getting worse, but it COULD also be because he's put on a load of weight. That affects the performance and also the show and the band and the bands success.

If you don't think this is a relevant subject then you're just trying to teabag Axl.

The other thing is there was a fucking HUGE difference in Axl's singing when he was fucked off in Dublin and stood still. He sounded amazing. YCBM was flawless vocally. That is my main evidence that it's not necessarily his vocals but his fitness that are affecting him, and if he lost some weight he could sound incredible.

So you can make this issue to be like nonsense paparazzi but it does directly affect the band whether you want to admit it or not.

    LP

Hey jack-ass Axl is pushin 50 and lives a life of excess (great food, great wine, great women) so I wouldn't expect him to look like he did when he was 30.

Yea he was thinner in 2006 BUT I don't think he was eating. When he collapsed at wembley it was because of low blood sugar... which often means no food and too much booze...

Anyway the one thing I take exception to is that he sounded better in 2006.... well I saw 4 shows that tour and 5 shows this tour and his voice sounds 100 times better now.... actually hasn't sounded this good since the 80's in IMO.

At the end of the day I don't know how anyone could watch this acoustic show gig and not say Axl still has it! Sure he's put on some weight... who the fuck hasn't since we've been GNR fans. Stop being so fucking petty... if you don't like it don't go to the shows and don't watch the clips online... save yourself some fucking grief

    Haha well done moron.

Where to start. Ok so you think the way to be heathier than he was in 2006, is not only drink too much, but also eat too much and be overweirght as well... ok... good plan Dr Twat!:rolleyes:

I never expected him to look like he was 30... or any age. I was pointing out that between the last tour ending in early 2007 and this one starting in 2009 the dude looks a lot bigger and his face is massive.

You could have been to 100 shows and say "IMO" a hundred times but there's no way he sounds better now than in 2006. The only show he has done is Dublin where he stood still.

Last of your retarded comments.... I didn't say he hasn't still got it, if you took Axls testicles out your mouth and read my post I actually said he HAS still got it but the extra pounds he's carrying are holding him back... compare and dublin song with any other on this tour and it will sound A LOT better in Dublin. Now of course however fit you are running and putting on a show will take it out your voice so he'll never sounds as good as if he's standing still, but he will be closer if he was in better shape. That was my point.

So I didn't say I didn't like the shows now, I'm saying he would be EVEN better if he was in better shape. And when comparing to 2006 there's a big fucking difference.

On another note Catcher should be recorded in the studio that way! I can then remove the CD one where they ruined the song and replace it with this one! It was so much better.

Nightrain was immense too! Ron is mental on accoustic guitar.

    LP

Not to choose sides, but I was at 2 shows in 02, 2 shows in 06, and 2 shows this year all in Canada.

Axl sounded his best this year, hands down. Part of that might actually be that the mix was better.

Was on the floor for all six shows, and three (Toronto 02, 06, 10) were in the same venue.
