  1. this might not be the right thread but I saw some stuff on yahoo about Bon Jovi, AC/DC, Gaga topping the tour list. I think it was a top 10. U2 were on it for overseas touring. I found it strange Guns weren't on this list.

They are on the list, it's in another thread. It's PollStar's top 50, although some articles just look at the top 10. GN'R were 28th for the year out of the top 50 tours worldwide.

  2. They did well (:

Actually, with the size of the stage show they have and the amount of people Axl pays to get the whole GNR show on the road (band, crew, management, travel) I suspect that while he made good money on the tour it was not a financial bonanza by any means.

you are so dumb, really really dumb.

No, he's not really. I remember the band saying that despite the success of the Illusions tour, they really didn't make that much money, because it was an insanely expensive show to put on. That said, that's an awesome result for GN'R!

  3. That would be... unexpected. I'm not sure the climate in Pakistan right now is all that open to a band like GN'R.

On the other hand... have Guns considered playing Indonesia? That's one place they should certainly hit on the world tour. Deftones are playing it soon, as are Iron Maiden. It's had a decent concert scene for a while.

  4. I've always wondered why the band didn't put this out since a lot of songs have keys in 'em.

I had a music teacher when I was in high school who transcribed part of November Rain by ear for me, but I lost that long ago :P

Also - Guns needs to license November Rain to Rock Band! Perfect for the keyboard addon.

Guns n' Roses, Jan. 16, Saddledome

Finally hitting the road in support of Chinese Democracy -- more than a year after the long-anticipated but commercially disappointing album was released -- Axl Rose hit the 'Dome on a freezing night in January. It's hard to call the band Guns n' Roses, with Rose the only original member, but either way, this Axl concert proved that blockbuster or not, Democracy was one hell of an album. On the record's epic ballads especially, Rose sang like a man possessed.

    ____

The rest of the article is about the horrid state of the concert industry but at the end it lists memorable shows, and GN'R is right there on the list.

Personally I saw a ton of acts this year and regardless of being a fan, GN'R were at the top of my list as well (oddly, so was Ozzy, much better live than I expected. At the other end - Rob Zombie was kind of meh live)

  6. From NewGNR.com

From what I've heard through some of my band contacts, 2011 should be a very cool year for the fans. Axl really wants to get Chinese Democracy's follow-up out there, they'd like to tour the US (unfortunately lawsuits may prevent them), and we may even get that remix CD album bundled with an official DVD release that they're working on.

Also, don't be surprised if you hear a previously unreleased song or 2 played live for the first time. From what I hear, Axl is wanting to test the waters. Keep your fingers crossed that it is either "Forgotten" or Atlas Shrugged". Whatever it is, you can be sure that it will be sweeeeeeeet!

Same guy who posted that on Here Today Gone To Hell back in the beggining of 2007:

To all the haters : I'm sorry for you not sorry for me. You don't know who you can trust now or who to believe.

Remember these words when the album comes out.

    I'm out of here

    http://www.heretodaygonetohell.com/board/index.php?topic=42170.msg851905#msg851905

That's also the same person who posted the part from Zodiac.

    We'll see...

This person has no class. He has obviously had some contact with GN'R years ago, but he has used it to make up nonsense.

Mysteron - what exactly about it is nonsense? That Axl really wants the followup out, the US tour (which was mentioned by DJ), the DVD, the remix CD (which Brain has publicly spoken of), the unreleased songs being tested live?

You answered your own question. Alot of the information is educated guesses based on known information.

That doesn't exactly answer my question, since any, all, or none of it could be nonsense in that case ;) But fair enough.

I doubt anything (tour wise) will be confirmed til after the holidays now.

  7. EPIC

EDIT: Yeah incase it was real

What was epic about that? It was awful.

I dunno what people were expecting. He talked about the band, the show, and told a couple stories (falling off the stage stuff). Was anyone expecting a serious interview? It's the last show of the tour, and just something light. Since he barely ever talks to the media, I actually think it works in the bands favour. Axl and DJ seemed pretty upbeat, and they mentioned the band is going to Russia next? Not sure if that's true but interesting if so.

  8. Guys, chill. Really, the paper was plugging it as the first interview in 14 years because I guess Doc mentioned it, but really - it was just fine. It's just Axl chatting a bit. This was in conjunction with the gig, so he's going to talk about the band and the gig. It wasn't a one-on-one session to grill him about a new album, future plans, or the past.

Just fine, and I noticed that thing about Russia - if that's not a misquote, there's going to be more Russian shows? Cool.

  9. Theyve been on the road since end of 2009 so it is a bit expected.

US market is a bit soft and with the Azoff thing not yet settled I can understand why there isnt a tour here yet.

Lets hope they begin the process to the follow up to CD in the meantime!

The US market isn't "soft". They/we just want the real GnR. As in atleast Duff & Slash with Axl. Some parts of the world are so starved for anything they sell out.

Christ, I could tour some countries/markets and sell out. The whole Azoff thing would not be a perceived issue at all if guaranteed sell outs were to happen in US. The fact is Axl & Azoff could be best friends and it wouldn't make a difference (with no Slash/Duff involved).....still wouldn't sell all that well other than a few select cities.

It's soft - it's the reason why acts like Ozzy, Iron Maiden, Rob Zombie/Alice Cooper, etc have been doing exclusive Canadian legs more than ever before, to test the waters (the Gruesome Twosome tour started up here on a test run of sorts, Ozzy did 9 straight Canadian shows, Maiden did a third of their north american tour here, GNR did all the dates here first). Tours are having to off-set US shows with other markets. A lot more are focusing on Europe, Australia, and South America.

Aside from a few bands there are no guaranteed sellouts in the US at this point. The US concert industry is coming off the worst year its had in recent memory. PollStar and a ton of other resources have written tons about it. Major shed tours scrapped tons of shows this past summer, and some cancelled entire tours (Limp Bizkit comes to mind, and don't buy into the excuse that they wanted to focus on their album or whatnot - there was no market).

  10. Wow, I know I read too much into shit myself sometimes but you guys are really stretching... I'm sure it just means the end of the tour dates that were announced/confirmed, doesn't mean they won't do any shows next year. GN'R haven't played the US (aside from Sturgis) since the album came out. That means a lot of songs - Scraped, Sorry, This I Love, Catcher in the Rye, Shackler's Revenge, If the World - have not been played for U.S. audiences. Remember, in 02 and 06 they were only playing certain Chinese Democracy songs.

Do hopefully they'll do some shows, do Mexico, Rock in Rio, lets just wait and see :)

  11. My two cents:

    Expect more shows next year.

I wouldn't expect any actual new album til late next year at the earliest and I'd expect it more in 2012. Guess we'll see. But I can see a lot more tour dates coming out next year.

This was the ideal setlist for this show: first show in the region, a lot of first-time attendees, so play a sold list of the hits, plus a good amount of new stuff. Makes sense, for those complaining it's the "same old setlist" keep in mind that it's the last show of the tour and a ton of first time fans, you're not going to do something rare that may or may not go over well live.

This interview might be blown out of proportion - I'm guessing it's just a few comments on the show. Would love more but... wait and see.

  12. Not once have I defended throwing things at the band, or the people throwing them. You call me the most ignorant member on the board (don't even get me started), you question my parents based on this issue (laughable) and proceed to write what I can only assume to be a 'rant'.

And yet, you still don't read my post properly. It ain't polysemic, don't make up your own meaning for each point and argue that's what I meant? That's bollocks. I've nothing more to see (because I can't be bothered repeating myself, again) other than list the points I agree with you:-

Glass bottles got in (I did not see any anywhere near the stage) though were not sold.

A few individuals ruined the show for everyone.

Nobody should be subject to having bottles thrown at them.

I'll leave it at those last few points, since it's the most sensible comment thus far.

  13. Just to add to the debate: It seems there are always certain elements at shows who should not be there (from an article, link at the end):

    My daughter’s fiancé’s terrifying ‘Guns ‘n Roses’ night-out

My daughter’s fiancé, Nick loves ‘Guns ‘n Roses’. He is also dying from extensive brain cancer. Last week they went to the Kwinana Motor Complex for Nick’s only remaining chance to see his idols.

As they walked up the stairs of the complex, Nick slipped, fell and crashed heavily to the ground hitting his head. My distraught daughter tried to hold him but Nick, being so big, hit the concrete hard. As he lay there, unbelievably they were subjected to abuse.

    “Die you dog”;

    “Ha ha, there goes your $150 bucks arsehole”;

“Get a life you loser”……and so on.

Thankfully, officials helped Nick to the first-aid section for treatment.

My wife and I arrived 40 minutes later and were amazed at the number of drunk-and very aggressive – youths who were doing anything but watching the concert. The police we being abused and there were violent and angry young men seemingly everywhere.

    Welcome to Perth 2010!

    http://www.wangle.com.au/life/we-are-rude-loud-agressive-and-violent

Security needs to do a much better job of throwing fucks like these out. Seriously if I saw someone say shit like that to a guy who's injured, they'd at least get a talking to.

  14. You mean it sounds like, or it is. It could be a sample? Is it confirmed as the RIR III intro, could it have been a jam they did between songs, there was one pretty good one.

RIR III intro was something different. There's been different introductions for each tour. 2001/2002/2006-07/2010

RIR3 had the Exorcist intro I believe. May have also had the New Year's video, can't recall.

06-07 and 09-10 both had The General intro. Maybe not all shows but it was played in 06.

  15. Because I've decided you're such an ignorant piece of work, I've decided to pick apart your post and make it known to you where you've gone wrong. Let me begin.

Since the only ignorant piece of work in this thread thus far has been yourself, I'll return the favour:

I did not, security did. Ever been to a concert? This happens, certainly at every concert I've ever been at. You get frisked, to make sure you don't have anything you shouldn't have. Ladies have their bags searched and a pat down, lads have a pat down. No glass bottles through the doors. Whilst I clearly didn't see every single item that was thrown, I saw a lot, I was in the front row looking at the entire stage. Most of it didn't make the stage, bar four/five items at most, none of which were glass bottles.

I've been to over a half-dozen major concerts this year. Things are brought in through security ALL the time. People getting to shows last minute are often times waved through, I saw this personally at Ozzy a few weeks ago. Ladies may have their bags searched but a lot are looked at with less suspicion than guys and I've had female friends of mine sneak booze into MAJOR gigs. I saw a kid who was about 14 with a FLASK at Iron Maiden this summer. So maybe you want to rethink your comment about concerts and security there pal. "Frisking" isn't perfect. And you cannot - logically - speak for the entire venue, so do us all a favour and stfu about how yours is the only version possible. I remember you doing that when this first broke out and it was annoying then, how you love to constantly defend assholes throwing shit.

I agree, in places with lackluster security. Glass bottles didn't get in, and weren't sold. Simple. "Serious" damage is a stretch, but I agree that it would hurt. Worth trying to storm out of the arena leaving over 10,000 standing, out £50? No, that's petty.

So again, you speak for the entire place is saying no glass bottles got in. Admit it, you simply don't know that for a fact. On top of that, serious damage isn't a stretch and even a filled plastic bottle can break a nose. Do I give a shit about the cost of the tickets? Does paying a certain price mean it's ok to launch shit at the band others paid the same amount to see? Great logic you have there.

You've no idea how full it was, but you can see liquid come out. What's your point? I would've thought that's a good thing. And more to the point actually, because you WEREN'T there, you wouldn't know that when that man came on stage was actually about twenty minutes AFTER Axl left stage. All the bottles were cleared, that one was only recently thrown on stage, long after the band left. Checkmate.

Wow, I have no respect for you whatsoever. Did I dispute that said bottle was thrown AFTER the band left the stage? No, I'm well aware it was twenty minutes after, the video CUTS OUT and it's CLEAR because venue staff are making an announcement, but in your fucked up world, it's OK to throw shit if it's venue staff? They don't count? Stop fucking defending hooligans, kid. I'm guessing now that you were one, so checkmate nothing.

Let me be very clear: The CROWD - as in the ones throwing shit - were in the wrong. Not the ones standing around booing, not the ones doing nothing, but the number of items you see lobbed at the stage is not acceptable, and the assholes ruined it for everyone. I'm sure your mother gave you a similar talk when you were about six. It went something like "if you don't stop that, you'll ruin it for everyone" - assuming you had any decent parenting, which by your response, I really wonder.

There is absolutely no way you can tell if it's an energy drink can. Cans were not sold either, for this very purpose. Plastic bottles and plastic cups, no cans.

I simply said it looks like one. And, it does, by shape and the way it was rolling.

It would do "some" damage, I've been hit in the face with a full beer can before, it hurts. Isn't it good that they don't sell them in the arena for that very reason? I'm sure it would be painful, however with the distance from the stage things were being thrown the bottle would have to travel a fair distance, and they were small bottles. Therefore with the lid I would imagine most of the liquid would spill, therefore making the bottle lighter, and less dangerous. But I appreciate your concern.

We can see the size of that one bottle, and it was not "small" - again, you're defending hooligans. Pathetic. Nor is it hard to jam the bottle with something to make it a very efficient projectile, and again this eliminates what may or may not have been brought in past security. Hey, but I guess in your logic, stabbing someone with a "small" knife is ok too, right?

Have a medal and fuck off. A few people throw something so the crowd must be "populated with assholes". Talk about generalisation. I ain't defending the actions, I'm giving a critic on the way in which the wilted Rose handled a situation, and allowed to become something it never should have.

At the end of day, mate, I'm not hounding on Axl for stopping the show. In fact, I hadn't really said much until you decided to get all hissy fit and whiney on my ass. My issue, and many people's issue, is that he went to leave the show after twenty minutes, punishing 10,000 who have already waited a ridiculous time for him arrive, because some prick decided to throw a plastic bottle. Deal with the prick, then get on with the show, like the fucking professional he's supposed to be. Axl is the one with control, not the audience.

It's not one prick. Multiple people were throwing shit. I hate to break it to you, but plenty of bands don't put up with this. I've seen Maiden warn the audience before, I've seen other bands walk off stage, and given I've probably been to 60 to 70 shows in my lifetime, I can say that I've got a pretty good sampling. I've seen Guns live alone 6 times since 2002 and this shit never happened at a single show, including one that started at midnight and had the crowd waiting for hours with nothing on stage. Were there some boos? Yes. But it was not one asshole in the crowd. If that were the case, it wouldn't have happened. You had multiple people pulling this shit and the band handled it just fine. I don't blame them for a second in this instance.

I've cut out some of your more asinine comments, because there's no point. You are by far the most ignorant individual I've found on this board, and that's saying something. You're defending the actions of a bunch of people who tried to ruin a gig for the rest of you, and get pissed at the band in the process. Bullshit you aren't hounding on Axl, because immediately after saying that, you cry about it.

So in all honesty - I can't say I'm overly upset at how pissy you *still* are about this. Since you clearly think it's perfectly ok to throw shit at bands, and want to nitpick so much over who threw what and when, I'd say you got what you deserved that night. Notice how this shit didn't happen at other shows?

Keep rationalizing to yourself how it's the bands fault and not the hooligans involved.

    1) There were glass bottles in the Dublin Arena

    2) Bands are not there to be targets, and under no circumstances should be subjected to this.

    3) Anybody thinking GNR is going on before they are damn well ready to go on is fucked in the head.

    4) A warning was issued, and was ignored,so blame the assholes that throw shit, not the band if your concert experience gets interrupted or cut short.

    Well said.

  16. I just watched the Dublin catastrophy clip again and there you can see clearly that a glass bottle is rolling on stage. Just got a little irritated that so many people saying that it was just plstic cups.

You watched the clip? Bless. Stick to YouTube comments and don't tell me about what happened. I was there, glass bottles were not allowed, and were not sold anywhere in the arena.

The thing around were plastic cups, and plastic bottles without the lid.

And of course, you personally searched everyone on the way in, personally saw every single item that was thrown, and had a bird's eye view with your computer-enhanced eyesight and was able to slow everything down to a crawl to ensure that nowhere, in a building with thousands of people, was there any glass.

What is ALLOWED into a concert, and what gets in, is often times two different things.

Not to mention that a full plastic bottle can do serious damage. Watching that clip, the bottle on the stage was pretty full and you can see fluid gushing out of it, it looks almost like an energy drink can that was lobbed. I can assure you that being hit in the face with that would do some damage. If you don't believe me, get a friend to fill a water bottle and have him whip it at your face. See how you enjoy it. After all, it's only plastic, right?

It's not ok to throw shit, period. I've waited longer than that for bands to come on stage without this happening. The Dublin crowd seems to have been populated by assholes, and I dunno why certain people like to defend actions like this.

  17. Not really. I understand them doing it at the time - rebuilding the band, you want people to get the parts down, and be able to hear where things aren't working, combined with Axl probably being too much of a perfectionist - but AFD is a great album. I want to hear new songs, not new takes on old stuff. For the same reason, I don't really want to see Oh My God released on any future albums - we've had it for ages, even if it changes a bit, it's good enough as is.

  18. If the opening acts started late how could Guns N' Roses have got on stage on time?

"Hey Korn, I'm sorry but you have to end your concert now, it's GNR time"

    Use your brains!

Man,the opening act starts whenever they are told to start. And they are told to start as soon as Axl is sitting in a closed, moving car that's not more than an hours drive away from the venue, so to speak.

Doesn't anybody in here get this? It's really not rocket science.

Apparently, you don't get that Korn is a big enough band that they will finish their set. You don't yank a band of that status. It's not the pigeons of shit metal.

  19. Does anybody else think that Axl should dedicate Out Ta Get Me to Julian Assange? It would be awesome if Axl came out wearing a WikiLeaks t-shirt. I think it would help garner some nice publicity for Axl and the Chinese Democracy album and tour, in addition to just being a cool thing to do.

You my friend are a moron. The leaking of those documents have put allied forces around the world at greater risk... meaning it's costing some of their lives. Which, ultimately, affects the freedoms you have and ultimately, your own life.

That's why you're a moron... for finding the Wikileaks thing something to be celebrated, even remotely.

You're calling someone a moron but proving you are one in the process.

The Iraq and Afghan leaks were a year old - outdated information with names of informants etc. removed.

The diplomatic cables have sensitive names removed and only public figures like ambassadors and aides remain in them. They have nothing to do with military strategy except in the most basic of terms, nor the allied forces and are simply embarrassing to the United States, whilst proving the nation's diplomats can be very two-faced - something already known in political circles.

Have you even fucking read them? They don't give positions or troop movements or any strategic info. The Iraq/Afghan war logs could have been used to build a picture of where forces were... except that, again, no current info was ever released by Wikileaks. It was a retrospective.

The Afghan documents were leaked in the summer and not a single death has come of them.

And yes, the leaks should be celebrated, because for once, the Internet has lived up to its potential as a world-changing medium, not just a host of forums for fucktards to bitch about bands and idiots to post drunken photos of their nights out on failbook.

  20. From NewGNR.com

I know the band probably doesn't want false info out but at the same time, RobinF's statements were all very positive and supportive of the band. Don't really see any bad in them unless it's just raising false expectations. I think we're all hoping for/expecting some US dates at the very least.

  21. I think we have the tracklisting now.

    We do?

Last I checked, the closest thing we have to that are confirmed song titles: The General, Soul Monster, Zodiac, Atlas Shrugged, Quick Song, Beta's Barn, Down By The Ocean, Silkworms, Oklahoma, Thyme etc. I imagine we'll see the bulk of those titles on the next album.

    The General

Soul Monster (Elvis Presley and the Monster of Soul)

    Zodiac

    Atlas Shrugged

    Down by the Ocean

    Oklahoma

    Thyme

    Seven

    Ides of March

    Leave Me Alone

Axl confirmed all of those titles during the different online chats between boards. He also confirmed Silkworms and Oh My God but I doubt we'll see them on the next disc (since we've already heard them, unless as B-sides or if it's felt they've really evolved or something). Quick Song is obviously a place holder (Axl confirmed the name but he did say titles subject to change and I can't see that sticking). And he jokingly referred to Checkmate as Jackie Chan. I for one would love to see the track listing above, a couple new songs, and I'm hoping for some slightly heavier tracks. Loved the snippet of Checkmate also, it has promise. Definitely want to hear what Izzy came up with.

And now we have this title "Forgotten" - it certainly could be legit, or it may not be. It does fit/could be interesting. I mean for a large part of the 90s Axl was out of the spotlight, be it by his own choice or being tied up in the courtroom, or I could be completely off, or it could be fake.

Regardless as to whether RobinF or the other guy is legit or not, I think 2011 is going to be an interesting year for Guns. The ball is definitely in motion with them touring non-stop for the past year.

Wasn't Leave Me Alone a working title for Soul Monster? I thought Axl stated this as Dexter in the past.

Shit you're right - he confirmed Leave Me Alone in one post, but in another he says "Axl:The bridge in "Elvis Presley and the Monster of Soul aka The Soul Monster (working title Leave Me Alone)" which will no doubt end up "Soul Monster"."

So yeah, I was looking at his one post confirming song titles people gave him, and it was later he brought up Soul Monster. Ok, so they're one and the same. I greatly prefer Elvis Presley and the Monster of Soul. Full title. Coolest song name ever.
