  1. Honestly I think people anticipating new songs are just setting themselves up for big disapointment. There's currently no indication of a new album on the way, and they haven't been in the studio since dj joined the band.

In all honesty, besides rio, I think they're doing this tour just because they're legally obligated to. Anybody remember axl's reading statement? It wasn't too long after the azoff settlement that they announced these dates, and these things do happen.

I think new songs are just in the realm of dreams at this point.

You have that backwards Bobbo. Part of the countersuit Axl launched was that Azoff was using his position to manipulate bands, promising tours that didn't happen, and basically blocking them from touring.

We know GN'R wanted to tour the US because multiple members publically said that. However, most people assume that, since they were on the outs with Azoff and therefore Live Nation (at least in the US), they were being prevented from doing so.

The settlement (in my opinion) seems to say:

Ok, Azoff, you want your money? Then you have to facilitate a tour.

In other words, both parties get what they want.

  2. Some of the more recent posters are saying North American tour... and there's still like 9 dates not announced. While I expect New York and Los Angles to be among those, you never know. Toronto always draws a big crowd for GN'R. Then again, we got our tour so I have no probs with this being a US only venture. I'd go if they were anywhere in Ontario though. I've seen them in Ottawa, London, Toronto, and Hamilton.

  3. Such awesome news! One show I can definitely plan on going to while I wait to see about OKC and/or Dallas. I was just about to book a trip to Miami so this saves us $$$$$$$

Hot Damn!!!! I haven't seen Guns since 92 so I'm so excited you can call me a Pointer Sister. Youtube is great for a taste, but the live show is like the whole buffet.

Kudos on the Pointer Sister joke, that's the best cheese I've come across in a while ;)

  4. Can we not do this again, with the ticket sales thing? We did it in 2006.

The success of the tour isn't going to be based on selling out every show. I posted back ages ago (could be a couple years) but basically - the cost to rent the venue, and stage the show, and pay the band, vs. tickets sold. Generally you can tour half-empty arenas and still profit. And - lets say you sell 7,000 - 9,000 tickets at a venue. Ok, it holds 14,000 right? And you're saying 'book a theatre' but that only holds 4,000, and doing two nights, well you might as well just rent the arena.

Anyway... pricing, the economy, promotion, competing entertainment options, even the damn weather - there'll be all kinds of factors. Just enjoy the shows.

  5. As much as I love GNR.

But is this tour just going to be another CD-tour, in support of a three year old album without promotion?

Will there not be any news or anything? Or any new album? Is the tour forced or endorsed by Axl himself?

Can somebody just throw the fans a fucking bone, or update the three year old homepage www.gunsnroses.com?

Who the fuck is managing this wreck of a "band"?

    Sigh.

Just give it up already. Endorsed by Axl? He's touring isn't he??

Also per the post for the North American tour "Over 2 hours of all their hits" or something like that.

This seems to be being marketed as more of a hits tour than anything which will probably sell better in the US than CD.

  6. I remember reading on this board that Axl was more or less forced to do the US tour to pay Azoff, didn't they settle some kind of thing like that in courts?

This would be an answer to all of those who are complaining about Axl "yet touring again Chinese Democracy". Except for Rock in Rio which is important for Axl, I'm doubtful about the US tour this fall being his real plan, what do you think about it?

No that's just certain spin doctors around here.

GN'R have been talking about touring the US for a while but didn't seem able to. They brought up Azoff controling Live Nation and using it as a way to control artists in the lawsuit. Keep in mind the DOJ was looking very closely at Azoff and Live Nation recently.

If anything, it's more like Azoff is being forced to promote them. But really, you agree to work together, you get to tour, you both get to profit from it, play nice - that's what it boils down to.

  7. Axl should be working on his own album.

So you complain that the new band sucks, and you also complain when he works with an integral member of the old band. Alright.

He complains almost about everything related to Gnr. Its kinda sad that someone comes on a fan website, daily I might add. And always bashes the band who the website it about. Probaly, makes up most his personal life aswell. I work fulltime and have my own life. I come to this website to unwind and to see whats happening with my fav. band. I cannot imagine getting on the net on going to a band's fan website and just be negative almost everytime. We are free to write whatever, I get it. All I am saying is these are the kind of people you really should feel sorry and wonder what a sad life it must be at home.

this is stupid ass person shit. My home life is fine bro; since my opinions don't agree with yours, i need people to feel sorry for me or my home life is fucked?

    your thinking is fucked.

Wow! I upset you that bad that you edited your post in mins... Talk about Bipolar. Look I just expressed my feelings, and now you are upset. You are judging my thinking, so be it. Like I said I feel bad for your home life and up bringing. Something must have gone wrong there. You feel like you have to annoy people daily. I guess you were one of those kids who go bullied and couldnt do anything about it. And this website and your negative comments is your way of revenage. I have seen you get countless argurements, I guess thats your high. So I wait for your trash talking so I could brush it off.

    Yeah, you nailed it.

    Retard.

    :shades: brushoff!

It really was. Besides that - who the fuck cries about a guest spot on one song on a friend's album? Are band members not allowed any sort of outlet besides GN'R? No personal lives either?

  8. Relax guys. It's likely Ticketmaster pulled the date just waiting for a few others and official announcement. If you've followed other tours dates pop up and vanish just at the start of a tour sometimes while they edit things and make final arrangements.

  9. basketball arena......not a stadium.

Were you under the impression they were going to do a US stadium tour?

No, he just needs a way to cupcake. No one would expect GN'R to do a stadium tour of the US at this point. Barely any bands, even those with consistent output for the last 20 years, can pull that off. Sunny just likes to rain on the parade.

  10. All he said was "no recording in the near future because we have those dates" (paraphrased).

Umm, you guys are surprised? They'll be on the road, nowhere near a recording studio.

That doesn't mean they can't record after the tour. And as mentioned they have lots of material already done.

  11. So these are the two songs that are universally unliked by people in this forum.

Scraped is my least favorite song, so I understand the dislike.

But how come you people don't like Rhiad? It has a catchy chorus, cool vocals, and to me, sounds like it is a natural progression of rock songs from Illusions to now.

It isn't the techno thing like shacklers, it isn't pop rock like Better and IRS. Yes, the intro is lame.

In terms of a rock song when introducing non-GnR-die-hard friends to cd, I would always play them Better and Rhiad before Chinese, irs, shacklers or scraped.

Besides saying "it sucks".....why do so many of you hate it?

I rather like Scraped. I don't think there's anything "universally unliked" by fans, unless maybe My World ;)

See CD is very much a throwback - an album with a lot of different styles. The Illusions were like that as well. AFD, not so much, Lies, well it had the old Live Like a Suicide and the Acoustic side so it was kind of. It's all a rather natural progression but the one thing is - music went the opposite way. Most modern bands just protool the shit out of a wall of sound and every song sounds the same.

I saw Rise Against recently (live). Same same same same oooh slow song same same same thatonehitsong same. Bland. as. fuck.

So... yeah I'm sure some people like song a more than song b but I'm sure each tune has its fans. I don't like Rhiad much. It's just the ahhh, aww ahh stuff - didn't do it for me. Yet I like the intro to Scraped. I like the chorus.

  12. what upcoming tour?

So you really think the Miami show is a one-off?

    Sturgis? Secret Shows?

Are there no better sites for you to cupcake?

    My time, my business.

Your time wastes that of others. But, if you've got nothing better to do than cupcake a forum for a band...

Secret shows don't require the manpower/expense because you're not bringing a full crew or lighting rig.

Sturgis is a festival - they tend to pay well, and provide the stage and a lot of the crew. They often overpay to be the "exclusive host to the act" in a given area and the band in question won't play within a certain radius.

Which makes those exceptions financially viable. Doing your own tour, hiring a crew that has to be on the road, for one date? Rather silly. Albeit the Mexico shows are close.

Still, use common sense. I get that may be hard for you. Try anyway.

Are there no better sites for you to cupcake?

    Sunny a cupcake?

    http://www.mygnrforu...1

Montreal got a show so why not these cities?

I'd actually never seen that poll. Not at all surprised that Sunny won however. Most people, even with oppoising points of view, you can communicate with them, and agree to disagree - which makes them not cupcakes, just opinionated. With Sunny, I get the sense that GN'R could cure cancer and give him/her a million dollars and there'd still be complaints.

Agreed about Montreal, if you can go back there, you can do Philly or Vancouver. Time heals all wounds (unless they were mortal :P)

  13. First off, I don't think any of these markets are likely to see GN'R anytime, sooner or later. Second, there really isn't even a concrete reason to believe there will be a US tour at this point. Everyone seems to be talking about this possible tour like it's confirmed, but it's all based on speculation of a single date.

The band confirmed that one date on twitter.

The logistics of moving the amount of manpower, gear, and stage/lighting equipment that GN'R uses means that booking a one-off show on U.S. soil is financially daunting. Yes, they played Sturgis, but festivals often overpay bands to snag a headliner that will draw. Especially when you sign a deal making your appearence an exclusive.

Now - theorethically, since this date comes close after Mexico, and Florida is close geographically, you could guess that they're just tacking a date on in the U.S. at the end of that. However it seems rather silly to stop there. You would at least expect them to do a few other southern US dates.

Eddie Trunk and several other sources have spoken about a fall tour, and the settlement with Azoff had a touring arrangement - you think they'll take a pass on using that agreement, when they've been wanting to tour the US for a while?

Most of the signs, for the first time in a while (despite all the rumors that have come and gone) point to a U.S. tour. How big will it be? That remains to be seen. I hope they don't try and play three shows in Florida again, but rather, hit the major markets where they'll pack arenas. Drum up some good publicity then extended the tour based on demand in various areas.

  14. Azoff sued Axl for unpaid commissions. The case gets settled, by which Azoff will get those commissions in the form of upcoming shows. How is this a "total victory" for Axl in court?

Breaking it down even simpler, Azoff sued for money he's owed, and now will get the money he's owed.

Don't get me wrong, Axl and co. playing shows is a good thing, I just don't understand the thought process of some people.

I don't get how people see it as a "total victory" for Axl. Azoff is gonna make $ off of this tour, maybe not the whole 1.8 MIL he wanted, but he'll make a pretty penny. Axl sued Azoff for 5 MIL, but looks like he isn't getting any payday, other than what he'll earn for doing these shows. I guess Axl being able to tour the US now is the "victory". Azoff and the US fans are the winners in this, imo.

Guns wanted to tour the U.S. and the conflict with Azoff potentially impacted that. Thus GN'R win on that front.

Azoff wanted money for the South American shows that he didn't deserve. He's not getting it. Thus GN'R win on that front.

Azoff will get money off of the shows coming from this agreement, but then so will GN'R. That's a draw.

Two out of three ain't bad, and keep in mind I'm basing this just on what's rumored to be in the settlement. There could be lots of shit we don't know about, but to me, sounds like a good thing for the band.

  15. They both came from the same Mid 80's Hollywood music scene,

both had hairspray, makeup, and the glammy clothes that go with it.

both were influenced by many of the same bands.

Slash even tried out for Poison before he joined GNR.

    POISON (1986)

    9rkl5f.jpg

    GUNS N ROSES (1986)

    alrxqq.jpg

Except one had songs that were timeless, and the other sucked.

  16. There is no doubt that this lineup is for real and we will hear new music sooner than later.

I have no idea who you are Volcano. But to say what you are preaching is just plainly stupid, stop acting like everything is well and good, because there has been some better years in GNR than the silence and splitted group there is now.

What line-up hasn´t "been for real" in gnr world? There was a lineup in 2001-2004 and another good one in 2006-2008; and these are actually the only "nugnr" groups to have come up with something, even if it took 14 years.

I do not know where you get the "this line up is for real"? Bumble or DJ could be kicked out and replaced by a phonecall tomorrow for saying things in media (Bumblefoot´s has already had an interview censored by Axl´s orders at HTGTH), and you would have no idea.

Why so negative? If this was 2003-2005 i would agree with you. They have just ended a tour and are now chillin'. Stop preaching your own agenda....the band is fine unless we hear anything from the GNR camp. DJ and Bumble aren't going anywhere. I think deep down inside you want things to go wrong for GNR and Axl....:shrugs:

    WHY???????????????

    What are you talking about?

The similarities with 2003 are resembling, can´t you see that. The exact same story when I hanged on this forum in 2003! But then, they ended a US tour, and the EXACT same scenario played out, with silence and the band supposedly "working on Chinese Democracy".

When they came back in 2006 there had been shifts in the line-up. Bucket & Brain was gone, gone, gone. And there had been a couple of cancellations.

And did I mention - no release in sight for Chinese Democracy, that they had been working on.

I have no wishes for things to go bad for Axl, not at all. I supported this vision for many years, held on, with the hope that things would change. But I tell ya one thing, they did not, and will NEVER do.

This current line-up will record parts for a record probably coming out in 2015-2016 maybe, and I think that´s a way to keep fans in the dark. Especially when Axl DID promise videos, and personally came here to talk about song titles.

That said, the current lineup is pretty weak. Bucket and Finck spiced up GNR in a way that DJ Ca$hba and Bumblefoot just cannot keep up with. Finck, and especially Bucket is a magic guitarist.

You know that Axl cancelled the RIR 2004 because of "Bucketgate".

The same scenario will play out this fall, with the cancellation of Rock In Rio.

I have no doubt about it. It´s just the way things work in GNR, and I am basing this on 12 years experience in knowing how GNR and Axl works.

The scenario is the exact same scenario as then. You cannot deny that.

The current lineup in my opinion is the best since the original. They feel like a band again. Bucket is excellent at ecclectic experimental stuff but I never felt he really fit in. I loved some of the stuff he did live (especially his solo spot, and handing out toys) but he didn't suit GN'R and the songs he's most obvious on style wise are the weakest for me (Shackler's for example). Finck was a decent writer (although I think Better is overrated) but live, well, he was never great, and having seen him live with both NIN and GN'R, he's much better in NIN.

DJ seems like he was made for this gig. Aside from a few of the early shows he's been excellent at both old and new stuff and lets face it, there's a learning curve. While I don't live Sixx:AM that's more about me not really liking the singer much, and I'd love to see what DJ has for Guns.

Finally - 2002/03 was *much* different. The tour didn't end, it was cancelled. Guns had a hugely successful tour in late 09/2010, were on PollStar's top tours list, played huge shows, and sure only one festival in the U.S. but the energy on this past tour is a lot more positive. I know it sucks that they haven't done the U.S. but I don't see anyone causing the band to miss Rock in Rio IV. I also think Axl gets what a huge thing it will be for him to have been there in 1991, 2001, and 2011, something no one else can claim.

I'm hoping they get something out in 2012. 2011 would be a bit of a stretch but 2012 would be very doable. Fingers crossed ;)

  17. http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=157358

Metal Injection conducted an interview with GUNS N' ROSES/SIXX: A.M. guitarist DJ Ashba on the "black carpet" of the third annual Revolver Golden Gods Awards, which was held on April 20 at Club Nokia in Los Angeles, California. You can now watch the chat below.

When asked if fans can ever expect any touring from GUNS N' ROSES, Ashba said, "We just booked Rock In Rio [in Brazil] for October 2, but there's talk.... We're gonna be going out way sooner. And hopefully we're gonna be [doing some dates] here in the States this year. I'm hoping. That's the plan."

As someone pointed out this may not be a full blown tour.

No doubt they'd like to do something and hopefully they will.

  18. I'm not talking about the old band, we all heard those stories a hundred times... I'm talking about NuGuns. Other than Tommy and Dizzy, no-one from any incarnation of NuGuns has stood the distance. Buckethead left, Finck was fired/left, Brain left, Josh Freese came and went... the list goes on.

Do you think it's Axl's stop-start approach to recording new music that drives these musicians away? Or do these guys view being in the band as just another job? It's not like these guys have any emotional or sentimental attatchment to Guns (certainly not like the old band would).

I sometimes wonder how Axl views the revolving-door policy of the last decade. It must be frustrating - there's a new member in the band with practically every tour these days. Perhaps this is why we've yet to hear anymore material from the CD-era... Maybe Axl doesn't know what to do or how to market material that was written and recorded by members who are no longer around??

You missed Chris Pittman. Brain had a child and is still associated with the band/was doing that remix stuff very recently. Josh was a long time ago and never played a single show with Guns, he was a studio guy.

Finck left to do Nine Inch Nail's farewell tour/other reasons I don't know.

Paul Huge was never really comfy playing with the band live from what I've read and Richard replaced him and has been there since 2002.

Ever see Iron Maiden's membership change chart? Makes GN'R's look simple.

In the end, I like the current lineup the most since the original, so I don't really care too much.
