F*ck Fear Posted April 20, 2008 Posted April 20, 2008 They are nothing special. I mean, I don't hate them or anything, but I won't go out of my way to listen to them. Quote
bluesy Posted April 20, 2008 Posted April 20, 2008 Generic run of the mill altern band.Pretty much. It's not like there aren't a couple hundred other bands that sound exactly the same and write the same goddamn songs. Quote
DCGNR Posted April 20, 2008 Posted April 20, 2008 Nothing special, but I like em'They are what they are, which is pretty good Quote
Moop Posted April 20, 2008 Posted April 20, 2008 Away From The Sun is one of the first albums I ever bought, so I guess they're sort of a special band for me. I don't listen to them much now, but they weren't that bad from what I can remember. Wouldn't call them a generic band. Quote

Guest Apollo Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 They are not "alternative" in the last bit. They are a classic rock and roll band.A step up rock-wise from Matchbox 20.Just an old fashion band putting out rock songs. Not the best rock band, not the worst . . . but better than average. Quote

They are "bland" if anything. A "safe" rock band. Listen to If I could Be Like That and tell me they are alternative!!!!They are like the Dokken of the 80's. Never the best hair band . . . . clearly not the worst . . . but put out some catchy safe tunes. Quote

When the term was created, yes it was alternative to the mainstream rock music back then (which was Hard Rock). But the term "Alternative Rock" is used as a music genre, and includes many sub-genres like Post-Grunge, Pop-Punk, BritPop, Emo, etc. Matchbox 20 is also a Post-Grunge band. Quote
