Is Lady Ga Ga the new Marilyn Manson?

ITW 2012

I've actually just got back from a drive, for which I took Antichrist Superstar with me, had been years since giving it a good listen, and while gaga's got some talent, I still much prefer MM,

In respect to self promotion though, I'd tend to agree, both freaks by choice, not nature...

she is amazin. fresh and new. can u think of anyone recently who has had as much instant success? she's leavin everyone behind her in her wake. marilyn manson relies more on shock tactics than actual musical talent. at least gaga can write, sing and play all her own songs. seriously, catch yourself on. admit you like her.

Lady GaGa is amazing.

Finally something new(ish) and interesting in popular music.

R.

People where saying the same shit about Rihanna, a year and a half ago.

And look where she is now.

Released a really successful album then released another one which isn't that great.

that's the point I was trying to make.

Gaga is nothing but a fade to me - does anyone really think they'll be digging her stuff a year from now?

Manson's son of Alice Cooper, Gaga's daughter of Madonna.

She did have a catchy debut album.. it'll be interesting to see if she manages to get better in time, and what'll happen when she works with other people. Hard to tell whether or not she can keep it up for 10 years.

When she first came onto the scene, it all seemed a bit forced and predictable. Got tired of it fast. But with the last album/EP, she's really come into her own...and I feel like she can only get better. It does seem a bit exploitative sometimes, but I dig that she's pushing boundaries and making relatively good music, too. "Speechless" is one of my favourite tunes of recent time...

without getting as cheesy as most do. She comes across as a proper rock star with that song...seems like the sort of thing Axl was trying to do with "Street of Dreams" tbh.

BTW, thanks for that link, Indy -- never saw that. I did see an old video of her performing a revamped version of "D'yer Maker," and it was way better than it had any right to be.
