Why are New GNR putting in so much effort to promote these Vegas shows?

Because they are working for the Hard Rock. In order to get their up front cash, they have to agree to a certain amount of promotion, The Casino doesn't care as much about the shows, as they do about having people milling around in the casino gambling.

Randy, are you serious with that question? Promotion is always part of these residency deals. Silly question. A lot of people like to say cause there were poor ticket sales, but how are people who are going to Vegas supposed to even know they are there without advertising.? This is not a GNR sponsored gig.

By the way, I am going to go see the Beatles show, and Jersey Boys, and am going to just walk up and buy tickets. What will happen is people will see all the advertising while their, the are gonna drink, gamble and walk up an buy tickets. So this myth that these shows need to be sold out by now is ridiculous even if they are haf full, between the gambling and the drinks everyone makes money.

As a matter of fact, Axl will most likely go on earlier, cause people will already be liquored up.

This is a win win, and capitalism in action.

Not everyone understands how these casino shows work.

Agreed. The casino's don't have to pay for all their in house advertising (signage and elevators). Hard Rock will make more money in the gambling/drinks while people wait than they will on the shows themselves.

Promotion is also part of big time album releases, but you didn't see Axl go on Jimmy Kimmel to promote Chinese Democracy.

You also don't know everything that went down behind the scenes with the label, managing etc.

His new interview gives you his POV. http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/music/2012/10/30/axl-rose-on-gnr-music-more/1669329/

I'm aware of that, but I still think he could have promoted the album out of pride for the music he'd spent years creating.

Yeah would have been great. I'd like to know all the details on why ChiDem was delayed, among the thousands of other details everyone wants :P
