Has it ever rained so heavily that you just felt like jumping over a table and into a cake?

They are horrible. It is particularly horrible trying to endure Slash, Duff and Gilby's embarrassed acting (you can tell they did not want to be there) such as that scene in the pub where Slash or somebody lights up Seymour's cigarette. Where to start at examples of awfullness from the trilogy...

- The scene where Slash loses the ring and duff produces it. Again, very embarrassed acting. The whole scene is sappy and pretentious.

- Axl showing off his limo, mansion and sycophants - just how far were gnr removed from their crowds and their appetite roots? By all means, Axl is entitled to own this stuff but do not put it in your bloody music video!!

- dolphins? Axl on a massive oil tanker. What? The whole thing makes no sense whatsoever. And that horrible bit where Gilby throws the life ring out.

- The scene discussed in this thread. Why do these people go crazy when it starts to, eh, rain?

I honestly feel the trilogy is the main thing that set GN'R on a collision course with Nirvana and grunge. If grunge was facing the GN'R of Appetite, GN'R would not have been seen as much of an enemy of Cobain et al., and - mysogeny/racism aside - may have been even appropriated by grunge as a shining example of a band who had earlier opposed hair rock. Granted, there were a few embarrassing moments (Anything Goes) - and photos - but GN'R's more aggressive brand of punk rock and their own verbal battles with bands like Poison would surely have singled them out as precursor to grunge.

But none of this happened as it was the GN'R of the November Rain period that came up against grunge!!
