Undeniable proof that a Chinese Democracy re-release was almost done

They should just do a limited edition coffeetable book about the making of ChiDem, put some of Axl's essays in there, tour photos, and include a DVD documentary and some of the unreleased songs, have the band including Axl sign the hardcover copies, do it through the company that put the Jimmy Page book out, and Axl would have a reason to promote something new and actually talk about the album and what he'd gone though for those years that he hasn't discussed yet.

There's more people who want to hear the story of the making of the album than are interested in a repackage of the album.

The band is going to disown proposed artwork and unreleased videos. It doesn't mean the booklet's fake but it wasn't signed off by Axl as "official". He probably has the rights to put the artwork in a book if he wanted.

1. Why can't this band properly release anything?

2. Really? A remix album? You put out one album in 20 years, supposedly have a vault full of "big guns", a current band that loves to write music.......and your second release since keeping the GnR name alive is a remix album? Can this band please hire a real management team?

They've gone through a fair few mind...

An explanation for the alternative covers/booklets could be that the designers designed three complete booklets, with zero to few variations in the track listing etc. but with different artwork. These booklets had hard proofs printed, and with it being GN'R, many proofs of each would have to be printed so it could be approved by the record label, GN'R, Beta, Axl's brother's wife's dog etc. The one that passed approval made it to the cover and the rest were discarded/ dispersed, however using one of these for a future release wouldn't be impossible.

Just out of curiosity, why do people care about alternative album covers? Is it like collecting baseball cards from your favorite team?

I can't imagine trading unreleased songs or paying cash for an alt cover.

Not trying to be rude or downgrade people's hobbies or whatever. I just don't "get" why people would seek these out? A new song - you can listen to it a million times. An alternative cover - you hang it on your wall and look at it every now and again?
