Mods, if I'm out line please let me know. But the Rapidfire stuff..

After reading the thread, particularly the "letter".........I'm like meh. It seems like "that dude" wants Axl to pay him a nice sum of money to not release those tracks.

I'd like to hear the Rapidfire tracks as much as the next guy, but this dude seems shady.

For once, I'm on Axl's side.

@Mods, I posted this thread here in AG, so I wouldn't offend.

I agree. If this guy is as big of a porn kingpin as he claims, why is he begging for money? There's tons of cash in porn.

Fortunately the first guy that gets these songs will put them on youtube and I wont have to feel like a sucker for shelling out cash.

If he is successful, then that's probably a reason why his posts seem so money driven. His success has only told him to make money, and he has some recordings to make him more. This guy isn't a fan, he isn't doing it for the fans, and to get fans to shell out on productions fee's is showing his true nature. I'd really hope no one on this forum lays down the money. Buy the CD if you want but don't fund the productions because he's told you a few tales that make him out to a good guy that had a hard time.

Enough with the shit, it's about this music that exists and may not for long. No knows Kevin's situation but him But I have been working with him and his lawyer for three years now, there is nothing shady or malicious or greedy about his actions or methods. But I can attest he has none of the funds to make this happen. He has spent thousands of his own cash getting the music to this point. He is one of the most down to Earth, honest and sincere people I have ever met. I have been honored to have worked with him. However he may express himself may seem unusually aggressive and outlandish to some, but I assure you, this is a great product. Developing an excitement to contribute the most minuscule amount is a great thing to do. This is about preserving and celebrating and being gracious to someone who committed time to make something awesome for the fans. Please refrain from faulting him. He's a real rock 'n' roller, man, he's fucking cool, this whole thing's fucking cool!

You'd really rather not ever hear it just because you don't like his methods? If you only knew the years of utter frustration and enduring harassment and utter hopelessness that has crashed upon him, you might be a little more accepting of this project and his need to express his desperation. But this is rock, and this man and Axl were once friends and comparable musicians and they made some kickass music. I'm here because I love and admire everything that Axl and Guns do and represent for me and Kevin and Rapidfire is the beginning of that Los Angeles story. It's a key, a beautiful introduction into that mysterious and enrapturing world.

It cost Nirvana $900 to make Bleach. Why does he need so much money.

I would love to buy the Rapidfire disc but why not just buy a CD burner a do it individually then charge $12. Is not like its gonna sell thousands and thousands of copies. Or upload it and share it that way.

This record would be for a few hundred or couple thousand DIEHARD fans. Not the masses.

First off... I'm sorry if I offended anyone or came off as greedy. Yes I was in the internet boom and subsequent bust, lost everything and had to start over. Not that I need to share that but WTF why not. Sunny Dre, I'm sorry if you find me shady. I'm the most honest businessman and person you could ever deal with. I was obviously mistaken when I thought people would want this as badly as I thought they would. My bad. To AxlsOld, I am not begging, its basic crowdfunding. You are not required to participate, and while I was a porn kingpin, like music, when's the last time you paid for porn? Exactly.... I went out of business. Axl Morris, I didnt realize that my posts were "money driven" I just want to make enough to supply Cds to the masses. Maybe Im a bit naive, but not money driven. I live just fine, and have spent plenty on this music over 10 years. I have offered many times to talk to Bill and have even said if on some valid personal reason he doesn't want this out I would consider that. saber_ has a VERY valid point. I have received constant lawyers letters for 11 years. I have nothing to lose so if he sues me so be it. I wrote everything and all the members get paid for every song. Broskirose, no attention would be fine. Being so judgemental is just sad. TWAT, recording an album costs less than mass duplication.

Anyway, sorry you guys feel so anti Kevin, but you're free to your opinions obviously. I'm sorry if I offended or put anybody off. I thought the Kickstarter video was honest and sincere. Maybe I was wrong. I don't know. But my intentions are good, and fault me if you will but business is business. Maybe this will be a failed attempt at the record business. Either way, Try not to hate. Im just a guy who has a piece of history that I have invested 11 years and alot of money into. If I get my investment back I'll jump for joy. Thank you if you read this far... Kevin

Your method of marketing using kickstarter is going to require a bit of patience, given it's a rather niche market.

Hi Kevin thanks for replying. I understand production costs of the actual disc are expensive.

I'm sure you have a ball park number for what the Rapidfire songs/CD might sell. Hollywood Rose is well known amongst the GnR community and that disc didn't sell as many as one might think. Not every Guns n Roses fan is a fan of Hollywood Rose and/or Rapidfire. In fact there are many who don't care for anything other than Guns n Roses.

My point is Imo, I think you are overthinking what the album will sell. That's not because it isn't good, from what I've heard I love it and will buy it. I just think this album is more for the real Die Diehards of Axl and GnR and not for the masses. That's why I don't get why you are asking for so much, this album is for a few thousand DIE DIEhards. And we appreciate you trying to get them out to hear.

I hope you understand and don't take offense to anything I've said. I hope what youre doing is successful and that we the fans get to hear all of your work with Axl in full... Good luck!!!

That's the thing I have a hard time wrapping my head around. Why would somebody so successful need to ask for so much money upfront from complete strangers? I would think someone that successful wouldn't be cash strapped, and even if for some reason they didn't have the money I would still assume they'd have plenty of relatives/friends/associates/business connections willing to either give a loan or become partners in this venture.

And if thousands of dollars in personal funds really have already been spent, that's not a good sign. It means he mistakenly thought the cost would be $20K less than reality, which leads one to believe even after an additional $20K is spent it STILL might not be enough to get the music distributed. Shouldn't the $20K have been raised BEFORE those personal funds were spent? Wasn't there a budget established before the entire project began, complete with cost estimates?

I'm sure Kevin is a good guy with good intentions, but the best of intentions don't mean shit if the person doesn't know what they're getting into or how to manage money properly. I could see somebody in their 20's with little income and no assets needing a $20K advance, but an established businessman in their 50's? Does not compute. :shrugs:

yeah i agree. i think kevin is doing this with his best of intentions, but i dont know if he is misjudging how much this is going to sell or if he misjudged the cost.

Same with Shackler's and Better and Sorry. I guess I love them all. 13 mill, I don't care, I didn't produce, I bought the CD. I love it.

Well, about the RF tracks, I can attest as a fellow die-hard, they are killer. I had little interest in them when I visited with Kevin's lawyer years ago so that I could interview him. I assumed the songs would be about as good as the Hollywood Rose and other GNR demos, so when Joshua offered to play them, I was like, "um, what?.. uh... oh, yeah! Yeah, sure (forgetting there was actual music to hear). I openly cleared any possible recording device that I may have smuggled in inside my backpack from the room, and then he cranked his stereo. "Ready to Rumble" began and my first thought was, "what is this? Some punk band's song that's first on the CD as a weird promo before Rapidfire? And even as the vocals began, it still hadn't completely dawned on me that this was Axl Rose. But when he hit the high note in the first chorus, I clearly heard him. The sound is heavy guitar, as you've heard in the clips, but throughout all the songs, that theme dominates. I thought then, "this is very Black Sabbath sounding." There's a complexity in rhythm and timing that is masterful. And the quality of the recordings themselves is remarkable. I'm no expert, but I'm a professional listener and I could not believe how contemporary and flawless the thirty year-old tapes were. And then the last song started. If you've read the thirty plus page essay Mr. Solomon wrote about the band's history complete with song descriptions, you'd know to which I'm referring and how I reacted upon listening. I couldn't stop the tears from flowing. In this track, I saw Bill Bailey saying goodbye to his former life, terrified and thrilled with the knowledge he would never return home. So, basically, I'm saying the tracks are awesome.

Nice commercial there buddy. :P

Nope. The music industry killed the music industry. Instead of embracing new technology, and finding a creative way to profit from a new model, they just tried to contain it.

Not trying to be a douche, but it seems like you're just here to make money. Gn'R fans attract people like you cause they don't have enough Gn'R tunes to listen to. I say that's fucked up. If you were a fan like us, these demos, which are probably nothing special anyway, would have been made available for free by you, so whatever.

Rovim - but what is wrong with that?
Axl and GnR are getting paid for everything they release. They are in the business to make money - that's why they sell their CDs and charge you $100 plus to see their concerts.

Axl is reported to be worth over a 100 million dollars. Money made from us - the fans. So why doesn't he release his music for free, or play concerts for free?

I'd say I'll vote for Kevin to release his music for free.........the same day that Axl releases five songs for free.
