Can anyone tell me Which City/Country and Which Month are the best to go to see the Northern Lights, I have travelled to many places to see things and to see the Northern Lights is also on my list.

I know you can see them in Iceland, but the tickets are damn expensive, You can see them in Norway too, but I really don't know which month and which city to go there, If there are any other countries then kindly tell.

Northern Canada or Alaska is not possible for me as its out of my budget to go there at the moment.

Northern Norway is a nice place to see the northern lights. I'd recommend to go to Lakselv, Alta or Kautokeino to see them.

Thanks, any other country or city? how far are those place from Oslo?

I don't know about any other countries. Alta is about 1700 km (1056 miles) away from Oslo, Kautokeino 1800 km (1118 miles) and Lakselv is about 1127 miles.

The further north you go the higher the chance os seeing it? Anywhere norh of the arctic. And choose winter. I don't know if more northern lights are generated then, but it is much easier to see it when it's dark (compared to constant sun in the arctic in summer).

I know there are quite many tourists coming to Tromsø in Norway every winter hoping to see the northern lights. The best lights I have seen was also in that city (at a conference party with outdoor jacuzzi and ice bathing in the nearby fjord with magnificent northern lights in multiple colors just above our heads), but you can see it much further south, too. Even in Trondheim (which is well south of the arctic circle) we get many northern lights every winter. The problem is often clouds.

If there are particularly strong solar storms, they have been seen at latitudes as South as the Gulf of Mexico. Of course that doesn't help with your prospective trip, but that's for anyone to keep in mind for the future. If there are solar storms at night, go out and look up.
