Does anyone else get sick of a genre or type of music?

Personally I'm sick of genres! Why do people restrict their creativity by doing just one genre of music. Fuck genres. Just make music and let your creativity guide you.

This probably shows me up for a bit of a...whats the word, someone obssessed with images basically...but for me their has to be something cool about you to grab my interest.  Something a bit lairy, a bit mental, a bit smooth, just some kind of mental association I have with you with cool.  And that can be created by a lot of things, from the way you look, to your attitude, to the way you play your music (i.e. Coltrane was fuckin' cool...but a different kind of cool to, say, The Slits).  Queers, druggies, arseholes, people that are a bit mental, these sorts of people make great music.  Some sort of idea behind what you are doing also tends to appeal.

Had a few albums of his in my time, few DVDs too but see GG don't fit the bill because of the last sentence there 'some sort of idea behind what you are doing', GG didn't have that, GG was just extreme for the sake of extreme, now thats just dull.  Iggy on the other hand might puke onstage and get cut on glass or do all sorts of violent fuckin' shit...but there was also always a weight of intellect behind what Iggy did, he knew what he was doing musically at all times and he's always pushing forward, always some sort of substance there, the sort of substance ultimately lacking from 'Expose Yourself to Kids' by GG.

I watched footage of GG's last day in new york. It has him walking around New York's streets covered in poo trying to get a taxi. Fun movie.

Spineless record companies kissing the mainstreams ass, being pressured by the money media and politicians. So called cutting edge radio stations as fucking lame as the stations they oppose. Go to your record store and buy all the GG ALLIN recordings you can find. If they dont have any in stock, tell them to order some. If they refuse, then do what you have to do. Call radio stations and demand GG Allin. Spray paint “GG ALLIN” everywhere. Make them aware that the disease and the Scumfuc tradition is still spreading. Write “GG ALLIN” on all your dollar bills.

Any bills you have. People do not throw money away, so it would be a free way to get the message out. You must do it every day of your life. We must live for the Rock ‘N’ Roll underground. He is correct about rock. In the end, despite all of that rebellion - Presley's hips, the Stones, the Pistols - all that transpired was a bunch of immensely greedy people wanting your money. The sad spectacle of these golden oldies tours exposes it for what it is.

He still has a point of sorts as rock was preached so holistically, as an entire way of life, and most bands tend to go tits up when they all find (permanent) girlfriends and wives. All of the rebellion was fakery in the end to sell albums and generate money. I'm almost pleased we had casualties along the way so I didn't have to endure the sad spectacle of a Morrison or a Lennon plying the hits and releasing a fashion range. Perhaps Lennon would have been the lone voice against all of that - I'd like to believe so.

I am really, to use the yank expression, on a downer with rock right now haha. I think it is the Guns thing. They were my childhood band and to see them so blatantly corporate has broken the last bit of idealism I possessed about rock n' roll, the music and culture. I just cannot listen to the genre right now. But then it - popular music - always had this strange obsession with chart success which inherently means sales.

What we are dealing with is immensely greedy people.
