Gambit83
*This episode was recorded hours before the tragic events in Las Vegas. This podcast promotes love and unity through music and concerts. We will continue to spread this message.* Before Izzy was in Guns N' Roses and Hollywood Rose, he had a brief stint in a band called Shire. On guitar in Shire was not Izzy, but Alan Santalesa . Izzy played BASS. In episode 29, Italian musician Alan Santalesa shares amazingly hilarious and unfortunate stories of a young Izzy Stradlin, Axl Rose, and how his career has had 1 to many "Spinal Tap" moments. Including how Freddie Mercury's death derailed a major break! ludurigan
"to appease him (Izzy) we start playing the Ramones song Commando. I played a guitar solo on it. When Axl Rose saw us he goes: 'The Ramones with a guitar solo?'" man i love this podcast!
ludurigan
"he was known as bill. that was the first time i heard him sing. he put his head down and started singing this song 'shadow of your love'. it was even more primitive than acdc. it was straight ahead rock"
ludurigan
"There were pictures of Axl on the wall with a lot of makeup like he was modelling for someone" "One thing about him (Axl) is that he was very familiar with all kinds of music. The glam from the 70s. He knew gothic, Bauhaus, they wore a lot of makeup too. And it looked like he was gonna dabble with that (makeup) if that was what it took" man this shit is priceless!

Tori72
Just to let you know this is some awesome podcast. Loved every minute of it. Alan is such a great storyteller! Great stuff on Izzy and also Axl. Can't get my head around Axl liking Bruce Springsteens "Born to Run". Warms my heart though. I try to picture young Izzy as very energetic and enthusiastic. I would have even liked it better to get to know a little more about Izzy and his personality - or better: how he came across to Alan at the time. So thanks for that, enjoyed it immensely.
