Anyway, why do people care so much if other people like classic rock more than todays music? Dont you losers have better things to worry about? Life is short, so we'll listen to the music we like.But something you should understand metalgroupie, hard rock and heavy metal have almost ALWAYS been at the same level of popularity with the mainstream. Sure, bands like Queen and Def Leppord would hit the mainstream hard, but when people think of the 80s and 70s, Disco, hip hop, and hair metal come to mind. I agree, the rock back then was way better than the rock of today, but not everybody of the 70s and 80s thought so. Rock was demonized by parents and politicians back then. So I guess the point is, the 70s and 80s werent all about rock n roll, like they must seem to have been. It would have been sweet to grow up with those bands, but think of it this way: we already have all of the music they released, theres no waiting for albums or worrying about break ups. I would have loved to see GNR live with Slash, Duff, and Izzy still in the band, that would make my life, but the important thing is that THE MUSIC WILL NEVER DIE. Everything written back then isnt going anywere, and some old bands are still rockin on. The thing was this emo show, ok, we were hanging nearby at some bands local party house and we get word that 2 dudes from the emo band are playing the Jackson Flying V guitars, so next thing u have like 13 bangers running to the place storming the stage and beating the shit out of the 2 guitar players. It was hilarious that the other 70 or so dudes didnt even jump to save their precious emo guitarists who cant play shit. That was the incident i refered to, but in general its not just emos getting beaten up, anyone coming to the shows who talks shit, it could be over nothing, but thats they way they are. Sure it would have been great but there's a lot of good music getting made today it's just not mainstream anymore, which i dont really see as a great problem. While i want around back, the music (the rock music that is not the pop or disco crap) back in the 70s and 80s seems WAY better than it is today! From what i heard the 80s was like one big fucking party. People diss hair metal bands, but they sure knew how to party and their attitude was unmatched. At least they had the initiative to do something for themselves and if they pick up fans along the way then that's good. Shit, even if you don't wanna play an instrument and you know of some bands that you like then start a small indie record label. All you need is a master copy, some blank CD's, some printer ink and a freebie website and you're good to go. It's way easier to make and distribute music now then it was when I first started 15 years ago.Make the best of the here and now because closeminded generational envy is not going to get you anywhere.
