The Who are a fucking awesome band!

For me they are the ultimate rock band, they represent everything about it and what it stood for. I mean come on, you can't get more rock that Pete Townshend.

Their best album IMHO is, The Who - Who's Next. Quadrophonia, and Tommy are awesome too.

But to really hear what The Who are really like, you need to get The Who Live at Leeds, quite possibley the greatest live album of all time, crank it up loud!

Hehehe and also check out this performance from Rolling Stones Rock N Roll Circus.

The Who - A Quick One While He's Away

Awesome stuff.

Townshend and Daltrey have just released a new album without Entwistle and Moon..... How do they dare to call themselves The Who ?

Why shouldn't they?

I'm sure John and Keith would want them to keep on going. Besides, The Who is Pete Townshend, he writes all the songs, he can do whatever he wants with the band.

Its a great album too.

The Who without Keith Moon is like a Lamborghini without the engine.... And no Entwistle either ! he's been replaced by an Italian session musician that used to play poppy crap ! The Who without Moon and Entwistle.... What kind of concept is that ? That's ridiculous !

The Who don't belong to Townshend. The Who belong to history. To the fans. To the legend. Nobody can fuck with that. Page and Plant understood it : when Bonham died it meant the end of Led Zeppelin. Page and Plant played together again several times but it wasn't Led Zeppelin. That's why I respect Page and Plant so much.

OK... so should OASIS cease to exist after founding members 'Bonehead' and 'Guigsey' left the band?

Yes.

EDIT : Oasis should never have existed in the first place.

Live at Leeds has everything. Make sure you get the one released in 2001, with the shit load of extra songs! My Generation on that album is just amazing, I would kill just to hear a giant Townshend solo, I love almost everything about his playing.

Of course you cant replace Kieth and John. They are the greatest rythym section of all time. John died just before a whole US tour was about to start, you can't cancel a WHOLE tour of the US.

The Who are still awesome live with Ox and Moon. Why should they stop playing? playing live is the essense of The Who, and Datlery and Townshend love doing that, its their passion. John and Kieth would never want them to stop them doing what they love just because of their deaths.

I love Entwistle and Moonie, but The Who are bigger then their members, so long as Townshend is still in there, its still The Who.

And you can't compare Led Zep to The Who. Led Zeppelin were burnt out falling apart even before Bonhams death.

Pete Townsend...the first rock STAR to "get" punk.

The man who kicked Abbie Hoffman off the stage at Woodstock.

Dig deeper Frank...awesome fucking band.

Forget Quadrophenia the movie...the album is one of the greatest records of all time, simply amazing!

and yeah...get the dvd the Kids Are Allright!! (you won't be disappointed!)

the fact that pete townshend is on the sex offenders register for looking at pictures of child abuse is enough to put me off this band. hes no better than gary glitter

Pretty obvious that you've never bothered to read anything about the circumstances surrounding that.

In 2003 Townshend received a police caution after acknowledging a solitary paid access of what was reported to be a child pornography website in 1999. He claimed in the press and on his website to have been engaged in research for "A Different Bomb" (a now-abandoned book based on an anti-child pornography essay published on his website) and his autobiography. He also stated that his research was part of his longstanding campaign against child pornography. He stated that he had formally reported the website he discovered during his research to The Internet Watch Foundation and the organization corroborated his claims in a statement on January 30th 2003. Townshend was also adamant that he had not downloaded any images during his research. The police searched his house and confiscated 14 of his computers. After an intensive forensic investigation of his 14 computers over a four-month period, the police confirmed that they had found not a single image of child pornography on any of his computers. Following this, the police declined to charge him with any offence. Having committed a technical infringement of the law by using a credit card during his research, Townshend accepted the police caution. Acceptance of the caution triggered a mandatory placing of his name on the British list of registered sex offenders for the statuatory minimum period of five years - irrespective of not having been charged or convicted of any criminal offence. Townshend has stated in interviews that his autobiography will include his own recollections of being sexually abused as a child, a theme that cropped up in his rock opera Tommy and that has motivated his campaigning on the topic and his 30-year history of support for childrens charities.

Get lost, wanker.

The Who is probably the best band ever. They have released at least two of the greatest albums ever made.

I'm of course talking about Who's Next and Quadrophenia. They still give me goosebumps every single time I listen to them.

I agree that The Who isnt The Who without Keith and Moon, but I think its great that they tour around the world playing old tunes so we who wasnt there in the 60's or 70's can listen and see Pete and Roger live. I think we all agree that its better than nothing?
