Sometimes, some people here, take the fan-fiction hobby way too far and tries to rewrite history by adding personal emotions to the situations.

What we know from the mouth of the horse is that Axl caused a lot of distress to those who worked with him by getting late to the shows, starting riots and making moves within the band that caused a lot of anger, like when he brought in Paul Tobias (knowing Slash hated him) or Zakk Wylde (knowing Slash and him are both lead guitarists), among a myriad of other situations that only brought conflict instead of solutions.

And yes, the rest of the band probably made him suffer too by being alcoholics and drugaddicts, which is something he seems to dislike to the extreme. He also claimed to have felt bullied by Duff and Slash and because of this he couldn't write for years.

So tell me, where is the love?

Whatever good feelings there were among these guys completely vanished when conflicts appeared because no one could see eye to eye on what was needed to be done to keep the band going, so much the best option at the moment was to split apart.

That's why I have to go back to my initial comment about how I feel some of you like to romanticize situations where no love or romance was present AT ALL.

Im not arguing that in the beginning all of them must have been very happy of finally finding each other, after years of trying other bands, to create the music they wanted and succeed with it. But dont talk to me about love and caring about each other when most of them have manifested the band was imploding, even when we all thought they were great, which is during the UYI tour.

You're the one who asked what love's got to do with it, who said that Axl's love wasn't really love because he's just some guy who's really sick in the head and so forth. I objected to you stating that him being messed up makes his caring/love not real. He's just really shit at expressing it and acted in irrational, fucked up ways because of it.

I never defended any of Axl's shitty moves like bringing in Tobias or Wylde (and I wouldn't either), so I don't really get the point of bringing them up. And just 2 days or so ago I agreed with Doug Goldstein about Slash's and Axl's relationship being shit (bordering on non-existent) during the UYI days and the same goes for the whole band basically (though it's probably true that they still had periods where they were close, as @Blackstar pointed out). So I don't see where I'm romanticizing anything. I don't hang out on Tumblr, I've never read fan fiction in my life and have no significant personal attachment to any of these people. I just say it as I see it. Because honestly, speaking as a guy, the level of drama/tears/hurt feelings and intense emotions between them all (some more than others) is pretty insane. Not something I know from personal experience. Friendships/relationships between guys are pretty chill and easy-going usually.

(As for the Rolling Stones thing... I do believe Axl really didn't know what else to do anymore. Was it a smart move to call Slash out on stage like that? No. In fact it's an example of him acting in a rather abusive manner towards Slash, same as a couple of other instances. But I'm certain his actions came from a place of genuine fear and concern, meaning out of love again. He just went about the whole thing in a pretty shitty way, probably because he felt helpless and overwhelmed. And honestly, tons of people with better backgrounds and less issues than Axl have pulled similar stuff in desperation over their loved ones' addictions, etc.)

Seriously, my chance is so low if they only go to Singapore. Last year when Bon Jovi came, me and my brother ask my dad (since apparently he's a fan of Bon Jovi), to go together. To be honest, sometimes I'm day dreaming an alternate universe where Axl isn't so fucked up, that he met someone who could teach him love and compassion (preferably a female love interest, since I'm so sucker for fanfictions ) and forcing him to settle his problems with his bandmates, not guarding him from everyone. And he lives a happy good life. with a beautiful wife and beautiful kids. And GN'R rules forever as the best band in the world, they release so many albums. *sigh*

That's why fanfic exist. Someone please make this fanfic based on this headcannon for me

I thought all fanfiction was about Axl and Slash (or Axl and Izzy) realizing their love for each other and living happily ever after. Or having soap opera-ish relationship drama.

Or just straight-up porn about Axl and Slash (or others) fucking each other.

Fanfic kinda like short novel of any genre but with real character like Bands Actors, etc or fiction char from game, movies, etc./ not original character

I was not accussing you directly of anything. Just talking about the overall feel the last pages of this thread gave me, where discussion of Axl allegedly crying over Slash and other people who left him took place.

Most of it is Goldstein, Niven and Zutaut "fanfiction" or claims that may sound real to many of us, since we know of Axl being temperamental and emotional, but in all truth we will never know if what they say that happened it really happened or not.

I still do not associate his reactions with love because that's not what love is, from the experience of someone who maintains healthy relationships (not me, to make it clear, lol) so I guess we better leave it at that. Looks like we will not agree on this one and I think I made most of my points in my previous response. So that's it.

I guess it depends on the platform. On places like rockfic.com it's mostly slash fiction as far as I'm aware. Slash = the gay kind of fan fiction, so with GNR you actually can read slash fiction about Slash if you are so inclined

I've noticed the kids on Tumblr write lots of weird self-insert stuff where you're supposed to imagine yourself in these little stories though. It creeps me out to be honest. I don't want to imagine myself in any of these weird-ass scenarios and I don't see the point. And they're really short too. Blah. When I was a kid, the only thing that existed was stuff about Axl and Slash, Axl and Izzy or Slash and Duff basically. Either of the romance or the porn variety usually lol. That's what I was raised on and everything else seems weird to me #grumpyoldlady

Though I have to agree with @SerenityScorp, from the little I've seen (I'm not very up to date on these matters anymore) it really isn't all about relationship drama and fucking these days. There seems to be a lot more short novel-like stuff with all kinds of plots and from all kinds of genres. I've been meaning to read that Victorian era England horror story that was recently posted, but haven't gotten around to it.
