  1. Getting home is my biggest concern, I'm with my younger brother so I'm worried for him as well, he can handle himself but I'm still responsible for him. I have to get from London back to Reading/Bracknell. Anyone able to offer any advice?

I'm guessing you're coming in by train? Navigating to Paddington and going out to Reading would probably be best, but you'll struggle timewise I should think.

Going from Reading to the o2, I would get a fast train to Paddington, Circle/District line to Westminster, and then a Jubilee line to North Greenwich.

Paddington to Reading runs until the early hours of the morning, around 1/2am, however, the tubes will be closed before then.

  2. Delusional statements on this board:

    - CD is better than Appetite and UYI

    - New GNR is better than original GNR

    - There is no problem with Axl using the GNR name, even though 10 years on it's completely backfired on him and caused him a loss of credibility

    - CD was written by people other than Axl

    - People don't want a reunion

    - You buy into Axl's rhetoric that he is a victim and takes no responsibility for the demise of GNR

    Accurate statements on this board:

    - Axl can still sing well

    - People go to shows ONLY to see Axl

    - Ashba is Slash-like, the other guy is Izzy-like, which intentional or not, is what should have been done in '02

    - Buckethead was an idiotic mistake in trying to forge a comeback. People laughed at him, regardless of how much talent he has. He's better off in a band like Slipknot.

    - A reunion is what 99.9% of the people want and hope for, the .1% comprise members of this board

    Spot on.

Only minor disagreement I have with you is the reunion bit. As much as I would absolutely love to see a reunion, at this moment in time I'm actually more intrigued with the remaining music from the 'Chinese Democracy' sessions.

  3. I see where you're coming from, but it would flop. Only a few diehard fans would buy it.

How is the average fan supposed to know there's a whole new album on it? It would quickly be dismissed as Chinese Democracy was, even if they "find out" there's a new album there. Let alone, it would get bashed in the critic reviews for "hiding" material under the same album name.

In other words, I don't think it's too good an idea.

The recent re-release of The Rolling Stones' "Exile On Main Street" featured a second disc, complete with several unheard tracks from the 'Exile' sessions. It was huge, and sold extremely well.

While I know it's a little soon to compare CD to Exile, it could be done and marketed very similarly, showing similar results.

With propper marketing, singles, and videos make no mistake, this could be huge...

'Exile On Main Street' wasn't a commercial flop that was only released less than 2 years ago.

  4. I REALLY hope they don't pull the plug on GN'R, if they do I'll be really mad. Them and Queens Of The Stone Age are the only two bands I'm interested in seeing.

It's insane how strict timings are here in England for rock festivals. I think Graspop in Belgium goes on until about 1am. If they do try and pull tne plug Axl could always repeat his awsome Leeds 2002 speech:

"Well, it appears that we're gonna have an interesting evening. You see the, city council and the promoters say we have to like end the show. And they'll say that I'm... they could say maybe I'm enciting a riot. Now I'm not 'cause I don't want anyone to get arrested or anyone to get in trouble or anything like that. But I think we got a good 7 or 8 fucking songs left at least to play for you. And I didn't fucking come all the way to fucking England to be told to go back fucking home by some fucking asshole! All I've got for the last 8 years is shit after shit after shit in the fucking press and Axl's this, Axl's that - I'm here to play a fucking show and I wanna play!"

This is why I love Axl.

Yep, that speech was f**king awsome! I think curfew times are annoying at festivals anyway and at festivals its not as if most people need to get home that evening.

You ever lived in a tourist town?

Curfews provide some sorta consideration for the people that actually live there.

I've just graduated from Reading uni, so I've heard the festival over the summer when I've been living there.

Reading is a very built up town; very dense. As much as I enjoyed listening to the music from my house, I can sympathise with other older residents that aren't interested as it is very loud.

  5. They did not begin Chinese democracy in 1993. That's my biggest pet peeve when reading reviews of that album. Gnr was

on tour for half of 93 and released an album in late 93. Not to mention all the band members quiting in the mid 90's. I'd say 98 or 99 is a more realistic year they began working on it. The media just sees their last released album was 93 so they assume that's when they started the new one.

You're splitting hairs. Axl began working on "This I Love" in 1993 (or earlier).

and November rain was started in 1980 or earlier. All I'm saying is it's not likely they extensively began working on cd in 93 especially when they were on tour half the year released an album later in 93, and all the band members quitting.

Wasn't slash snakepit supposed to be gnr's new album? Like slash wrote all those blues rock songs and axl didn't like them so he didn't sing them so slash found another singer to sing them. That was released in the mid 90's.

He'll most tracks on cd give writing credit to members who joined in the late 90s early 2000s.

I would argue that Axl didn't begin working on Chinese Democracy until around '98 when he had a new band in place.

While it is clear to see that 'This I Love' was on the Chinese Democracy release in 2008; sources say that Axl wrote the piece in the early 90's, during the 'Illusion' era. However, I believe Axl's intentions were - if he was to actually release it - release it on the true follow-up to the Illusion records.

There are many sources saying that Axl, and whoever was in the band in the early 90's started on a new record, however, this record was scrapped and years after Axl began working on his vision that was Chinese Democracy.

  6. It happens in late may / early June.

And yeah, it's pretty cool.

    Are you sure about that?

Previously it's always been in January/February I believe.

When its been in Lisbon its been May/June.

  7. This looks like a glorified, direct-to-dvd, action hero reunion.

Yeah, that's why it's one of the most anticipated movies of the summer; Soon coming to a theater near you.

I know you're the chump who jumps on anybody who doesn't subscribe to tenth grade mentality, but let me break my sentence down for you more concisely:

It has the production values of a direct-to-dvd movie. No lie. That's why it looks like a direct-to-dvd movie.

You could say that, but it is getting an international theatrical release.

  8. an instrumental version of it was played in seattle 92 as an intro to nov. rain

Is there a video of that somewhere?

I have seen this video too. I wouldn't say that it was an instrumental of TIL, but the two pieces do display similarities.
