  1. A new album would carry less pressure and baggage tied to it; people will be more accepting that it is a new band this time round.

That said, the Chinese Democracy name was its selling-point AND its downfall. The Chinese Democracy name carried a mythical edge to it; GN'R's first album in 15 years, however, a GN'R without Slash and Duff was always going to be received badly.

  2. They're on tour right now, you'd think that would be a pretty good time to release an album

I wouldn't really call approximately 5 dates, across 3 months, a 'tour' exactly, but I understand what you are saying.

Most of the general public that are even remotely interested in Guns N' Roses haven't even seen GN'R tour the Chinese Democracy material (post-CD release) I mean, so I am not sure it is the best time to see a new album. That said, I would absolutely love to see a new album drop, considering I have seen them 'tour' under the Chinese Democracy banner back in 2006.

  3. Might be a dumb question.... but why would UMG not be interested in a new Guns album?

Because Chinese Democracy was a commercial flop?

The album being turned in last month sounds plausible, but after waiting years for Chinese Democracy, I won't be holding my breath until I hear some concrete information from industry sources or the band itself.

  4. Sorry if this is the wrong section, but...

Basically, having this argument with a friend. I'm trying to persuade her that Axl is, in my opinion, the greatest front man ever. Wondering if anyone could point me to what they think is Axl's best performance ever? Youtube links would be fantastic.

  5. See, this is why I love this forum. Just when I'm starting to get bored with Guns (once in a blue moon) shit like this happens and it makes me fall in love with Chinese Democracy all over again. My favorite thing about peeling back the layers of Chinese Democracy is this: you peel back enough and you arrive at emotional core of the song - the lyrics! I've said it before and I'll say it again, what makes GNR so special is the way Axl and his lyrics come right at you...Stripping back some of the music and effects actually helps some of these songs. For it gets you closer to the words, and closer to the emotions of Axl.

Not sure who has the multitracks, but if you're listening...I'd love to hear a stripped down prostitute as well....Just go Piano, Drums and Axl...layer in the guitars during the bridge between vocals...but that's all...

Heck, I'll listen to any remixes and enjoy them....this is fun, fun stuff....Amazing how simple arrangement changes can drastically change the impact a song has...I finally understand WHY it took Axl sooooooo long....How does one know when to stop? Or start making changes? Keep it coming!

The Prostitute multitracks have been "out there" for quite some time now.

There is no way to have just Axl, piano and drums as one of the layers is piano and all of the orchestration.

  6. Just wondering how big Skid Row were back in their prime.

I'm only 20, so am a bit too young to have appreciated them in their prime, but listening to their self-titled album and Slave to the Grind, I was thinking that they should be pretty massive. I don't think they are as good as Guns, but they have some solid albums and Baz sounds sublime.

  7. Not at all.

I am not an insider, never claim to have been.

But based on past experiences, i.e. 2006 tour in which 'Download was their only UK date', I am certain there will be other English/UK/British, whatever you want to call it, dates.

  8. I guarantee these aren't the only UK dates this year.

They never said Reading and Leeds were the only UK dates, just the only English dates.

So that leaves Ireland, Wales and Scotland.

    Ok, I'll make myself clearer.

I guarantee these aren't the only English dates.
