  1. Yeah,

They do sell a lot of GN'R tops in Next and River Island etc these days, however, its not really a GN'R thing, as opposed to a classic rock thing.

Next, River Island and Topman all sell GN'R, metallica, the stones, the doors, sex pistols t-shirts. 'Classic Rock' is now pretty trendy.

  2. The whole band are in NYC, along with Merck, all discussing the secret release of "there are 13 tuesdays left"; a flawless masterplan for the release of Chinese Democracy 2!! .........Obviously

  3. That AxlRoseCalifornia dude claiming it's real...wasn't he the one a while back trying to say he had a bunch of tracks and he later admitted he was lying...on that same forum...I dunno. Maybe I'm not thinking about the same person. Either way, it sounds cool, I'd hate to find out it's the real thing, especially if CDII is in the near future.

    You're correct.

This guy claimed he had stuff, and then admitted that he was lying.

However, who knows? Could be legit, could be a fake. He said in the forum he isn't leaking, which is a good thing IMO.

  4. If Slash didn't came up with the intro riffs and guitar solo's on those songs, nobody would have ever heard of GN'R

Axl came up with the SCOM intro riff. Look up that thread where Slash says that he deserves no credit for SCOM.

Also, Axl came up with the lyrics, which are 90% of a song.

    did he? o.O

and, that is so true. without axl writing lyrics and singing, no one would know about slash, izzy, duff and steven..

Slash came up with the SCOM riff, but hated it. I think he said he compared it to some sort of carnival music.

Axl was the one that said he liked it and insisted it be used.

  5. I actually prefer that song when it's performed with "clean" vocals, e.g.

. (The way he builds up around 1:30 to the "To make you change your mind" part is awesome.) It's interesting how everyone complained about his voice on the Appetite/Illusion songs back in '01/'02, but we grew so accustomed to the "Mickey Mouse" vocals on the unheard tracks, that nowadays many people (myself included) actually feel like those renditions were better.

Couldn't agree more. Madagascar is the perfect example for this case. Used to sing fantastic renditions with the so-called 'Mickey Mouse' voice; hell, I think the VMA performance was the best performance of Madagascar that GN'R has ever done.

Needless to say, after years of waiting to hear it, when the first Madagascar demo leaked in 2007...I was extremely surprised, to say the least, at the vocals on it.

  6. Summer?

    Are you sure?

Surely a holiday release date is more viable from an economic point of view?

Am I sure? No. Did an industry analyst say GNR were scheduled to release an album "early summer"? Yes.

Again, he stated that the GNR camp submitted about 30 "completed" tracks back in April 2008 to the surprise of everyone at Universal. According to him, Axl is working with Universal during this down-time to finalize a marketing plan. Do I know this to be 100% factual? No. Did this guy seem genuinely sincere when he told me this? Yes, he did.

IMO, this guy seemed a little on the stuffy side and nothing about him made me feel like he was bs-ing me. Again, he didn't even know I was an old school GNR fan. That's the ONLY reason I think this may be true. It sure as hell isn't based on my faith in Axl.

    Fair play.

For your sake as a poster on this board, I hope you are right. A lot of times I've seen people vilified on this board after posting information they believed to be correct, that has indeed turned out erroneous.

Personally, would absolutely love to hear a new record ASAP. :D

  7. 'The "birdie" told me that Universal received something like 30 tracks back in April 2008 from the Guns camp. Due to all the leaks, it was a no-brainer which songs would actually make the first album.'

    what-ever :D

The best of Chinse Democracy was released, as that's the best Axl & Co. had to offer. The album's not been a great success, so it makes no sense to release the tracks that didn't make the album.

Like I said, I'm not telling you what is going to happen - only what I was told. A friend of mine works in Publishing out in LA. The "birdie" we had dinner and drinks with is a friend of his who works as a sales analyst for a major company within the industry. When he mentioned GNR having a release due this summer, he mentioned them in between several other artists and he had no idea that I was a GNR fan.

I don't blame anyone for being skeptical. Hell, after the failure that was Chinese Democracy, I never expected to see another album released under the GNR banner. Like I said, just repeating what I was told - not something that I know to be 100% factual.

    Summer?

  8. In 2008, I told everyone that I had faith the album would come out that year, and it did. I have faith that we will get new music either this year, or 2011.

I'm sure that you would also have said the exact same thing in 2006; there was no doubt in my mind that Chinese Democracy was coming in 2006.

  9. It was, but the track list was thrown together at the last minute. CD is pretty funny, it took so long to make and have come out by judging by the mixing of the album and the artwork, it feels like it was rushed out.

That is why I think Axl did not promote the album because the label forced out the album. Why else would Axl not promote it.

because hes axl, throw logic out the fuckin window.

thats part of why i love this band tho. dont try to predict anything, just hold on and enjoy the ride.

I think Axl wanted the album released in November 2009. Why do you think they started the tour in December '09 and not '08. Now I think about it, it would've made sense for them to start to tour after the album was released. Although. I'm happy they final released it, I think if it was released in 2009 it would have made more sense.

I think they'll release the new album this year or next year, I doubt Universial/Geffen is gonna want Axl to wait another 10 years to release an album.

Chinese Democracy is a jumbled mess. The first 4 songs seem to flow for me, but the rest is very thrown together.

I think this time around they will promote the album. The best they could do is release it before the U.S. tour and tour behind that album.

If memory served me correctly, there was a failed tour of '09. Plans were being thrown together, but shit got fucked up and the tour never materialised.

Furthermore, Axl himself said that getting them on the road for December 2009 was nothing short of a miracle, considering they were touring the Far East with no management.

  10. No UK arena dates this year according to official forums announcement:

    GUNS N’ ROSES TO HEADLINE

Sunday 29th August at The Leeds Festival

When Axl Rose strides on stage to headline the Reading and Leeds Festivals this August he is introducing one of the most outstanding, successful and controversial rock bands we have seen in the last 25 years. An acclaimed and thrilling live act, GUNS N’ ROSES’ countless hits have become soundtracks for music fans all over the world. The band played a spectacular show at Leeds Festival in 2002 and this is incredibly their first ever appearance at Reading. Their latest album ‘Chinese Democracy’ was number one in 13 countries and has received countless awards all over the world. This is their only UK appearance this year.

    :no::o:( Getting worried

Odds of them bothering to do Arena dates in Dublin if they don't do any in the UK are slim

They said the exact same thing in 2006 before the Download festival. They say this to get people to buy tickets to see them at the festival. They will announce a UK tour within a few weeks.
