  1. Simon going rogue is just yet another indicator showing that the whole Negan story arc is about to conclude. There is no way people would sit through another season with the same stuff happening. As cool as it has been, it has to end soon. (And I still like it, unlike all those wannabe directors criticizing everything, sitting on their asses all day and never achieving anything.)

I just can’t imagine where they will go from there. Tanks? Armies? Who can be worse than our N-boy?

That kind of story goes along with those old "no Slash shirt" stories. For years, I was adamant that anyone who said the no Slash shirt things was real were absolutely full of shit. Then, when I went to see GN'R in Chicago in 2012 at the House of Blues, I saw it happen with my own two eyes. I watched security go through the line and make anyone with a Slash shirt turn it inside out. They even made a guy with a T Rex shirt do the same "just in case". It was insane. If I hadn't seen it myself, I would have never believed it.

Not on Axl’s command, though. He commented on that right here on this forum, didn’t he...

It definitely would have been strange to have the Rhythm guitarist and drummer swapping out for certain songs.  Has any band done that on a tour except for guest appearance type stuff?

I guess Fortus could have just stayed on stage and played air guitar during Izzy's songs.

What would make/have made more sense would be to do smaller venue, complete AFD shows with Izzy and Steven.  Just play AFD+Civil War.  Do it in under 5000 seat venues and play the NITL show in a larger venue in the same city.  Charge a premium for the AFD shows.  The general public can go to the NITL show and the diehards can go to both (or just AFD).

Somebody needs to take the best audio we have of Steven's My Michelle and OTGM from NITL guest appearances and set up an A/B comparison with Frank's versions.  Break it up into segments and don't reveal whose part is A and B but randomly switch the order.  I'd be curious how many people can really tell who is playing without seeing the video.

I’m not sure how that would make 4tus and Frank feel, but actually this is not a bad idea at all. It would solve a lot of stuff.

  4. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: what if Izzy just wanted to participate as a guest, for a few songs per show? Wouldn’t it be kind of unfair if he required the same money as the others, who have been rehearsing, preparing for the tour, and touring all year around?
Or do you think Izzy would have wanted to do the whole thing? Do you think he would want to – or be able to, in certain parts – play Chinese Democracy songs? And would they fire Richard then? Or would it be a 3-guitar circus again? Would they alternate, rendering it a circus as well?
I just somehow don’t see Izzy wanting to 100% collaborate on the whole tour thing, that’s all.
As for Steven, the situation would be similar. As he said himself, he would only do certain songs, but that would mean another circus, with musicians standing in the backstage and waiting their turn. You can do this occasionally but not at every show, that’s nonsense.
I’m definitely glad for what we have now.

i can see where you coming from because all of these guys that axl hired said a billion times that axl was the coolest guy and that he encouraged everyone to give their contributions and that he was truly into the music and he made a point into including everyone's ideas on the record etc etc etc

the fact that he did all that probably makes him one of the coolest bosses ever

but at the end of the day he was still the boss, it was him running the show, hiring and firing people, calling all the shots etc etc etc, we all know that

In no way am I arguing against that. It’s just that some of the arguments on this god damn site tend to get kinda seriously black & white extremish, if ya know what I mean… :D

  6. Add something where Axl’s rasp would stand out – like Nice Boys or Dead Horse. Don’t add anything that is beautiful yet would inevitably be sung with mickey (Think About You comes to mind).
    Drop some of the covers.
I’d say drop BHS, but I don’t expect it to be played in 2018 any more.
I’d say drop NR or KOHD, but we know that’s not gonna happen.
    And finally...

    ...add a brand new song.

  7. My two cents: Apparently, some people keep forgetting that Axl is a human being. He is not just some music machine whose only job here is to please you. He has other life and thoughts outside of GN’R and music in general, right?
In a similar way, people say they’ll have had 6 months to create something – but that’s not real, because you’re counting December as well, and there is no way they immediately started working on something, as they’d only returned home from a 2-year long tour, and one would expect some resting going on there. So 5 months at the most. Why don’t we cut those guys some slack?
When Axl wants to say something about new music, he will do so. I guess I understand his "silence", because we all remember all the pestering back then a la "when is the new album coming out" etc. (however understandable it may have been). I suppose he wants to avoid anything like that happening again.
Anyway, if you guys think that they could have written, composed, rehearsed, recorded, mastered, and produced a brand new album during those few rare months off during the tour, you must be living on a different planet. There simply was not enough time. Remember the 3-year Illusions tour? The majority of the material had been written prior to that too, hadn’t it?
This is not to say that they couldn’t have worked on something – we know they have – but all I expect this year is possibly one or two new tunes to be played live or a NITL dvd released later on, and I’m being very optimistic here.
Use some context and have a little... Patience, guys. One would presume GN’R fans would have gotten used to it by now.
