If he was remotely concerned with being a successful artist, he'd consider getting rid of TB and hiring real management. He can't though, because Beta emotionally blackmailed him in front of the whole world.

"A true friend is not on your payroll"

    -Prince

Side note, here's a list of some people who view Axl/GN'R as an unsuccessful artist:

-inconsequential people on some message board (also known as the only people who actually still care if Axl is successful)

    -the rock music press

    -music press in general

-casual fans (as evidenced by the dismal ticket sales, show cancelations and downsizing of venues)

And yet most likely he made 50 - 100 mio dollars on this tour. So plenty successful and all the things you list is just noise and thus there is no reason for him to be concerned about anything. And if he were upset with how things are going, he could and would get rid of them. But alas, for him it works and thus nothing will change.

No, he can't. Not since Beta emotionally blackmailed him in front of the entire world.

Of course he could. But he doesn't want to. They are his family. And why would he? Because some, to him, inconsequential people on some message board don't like what they are doing?? I'd say it's time to get your head out of your asses and just deal with it.

I feel the same. Axl's indifference towards the 2016 and later CD-versions is what I don't really understand, considering how literally obsessed he allegedly was with finding the "right" sounds and notes for pretty much every single bar in every song during the making of the album. But maybe he has just left this time behind him for good and is maybe even happy that everything sounds different or more "slashified" nowadays, what the hell do I know. To me it just seems a bit odd.

Well. One thing is on CD, availabe for everyone until all eternity, the other is played at a concert time, yanked of Youtube the next day. There is no need for Axl to be obsessed how Slash plays it. Especially since he can not even sing it the way he recorded it.

Yes, like I read in another thread/discussion, it seems that Axl saw malicious intent and a takeover attempt in Slash doing Snakepit (combined with what he said in the press, etc.), so he moved aggressively to take legal control of the band. In all that we have to factor in the role of third parties: management, "advisors" (we know that Axl in particular had some really shady "advisors").

Then it seems that there was intervention and pressure from the label and lawyers - to Slash to not continue his solo tour and then to Axl to take his legal takeover move back. Axl refused to completely take it back, so there were negotiations which led to the compromise of the "trial period" contract, which meant that if Axl and Slash had managed to make it work (e.g. successfully complete an album), Axl's legal takeover would've been effective, otherwise the contract would be "null and void". So then Slash returned in 1996 having in mind that if he'd worked with Axl, the drawback was that wouldn't have been legally equal anymore. He wrote in his book that Axl tried to convince him that it wasn't like that and that they were still partners etc, but to no avail. I think Axl didn't believe or expect that Slash would seriously quit the band. I also think that Slash's quitting was a power play - maybe it was spontaneous that particular day, but then he expected that Axl wouldn't seriously continue without him, so he after sometime he could be back under better terms, ie. the status before Axl's takeover (and this is also what Duff and Matt expected, and probably everyone else except Paul Tobias, maybe).

Seriously, it is depressing talking/reading about this shit. What could have been if cooler/less stubborn heads prevailed.

Anyone else feel like a SMKC album announcement is Slash's way of mercifully tempering the expectations of GNR fans?

It's Slash way of saying, that he doesn't give a shit about a new GNR album, he got his own shit to take care of. Good for him. 5 years of GNR reunion, zero GNR albums, 2 SMKC albums. Who would have thought? We know he's living the dream. Wonder what the new one is gonna be called.

Remember when Axl said after releasing CD: The next album will come out faster I promise.

It has now been 13 years.

Just to remind people this is the band we’re fans of. If you are still a fan today after 2 13+ year waits you will be here for life.

Yeah. And people think Sade fans have it bad. Well, at least here is touring in between and not complete radio silence.

Someone asked Meegan on IG yesterday if there would be new songs on this tour, to which she replied "top secret". Last month Fortus answered the same question with a "keep it a secret" emoji. So, either we're getting new songs, or these guys have embraced TB's sadism toward the fans.

No. They both know that's a question for management. ;)

How does it come, that Slash posted it on his ig (in reference to this crew member) hours before the official band account/channel does ?

Has Slash the hands on some pro shot material ?

it looks a bit like: "oh, look what Slash has done, let's copy and paste !"

Or is it just the normal GnR mess when it comes to do things in the right order ?

Either way, good to have it !

Yeah. I had the same thought when I saw it first pop up on his IG.

Evans did theater and can convey emotion pretty good. For a movie like Bond you need a certain charm and stoic poser deep badass. It's not the scale of the the premise that is the problem is playing the character with the right James Bond flavor. Remains to be seen. A lot of good Bond movies were possible thanks to Daniel Craig. Many scenes where he totally nailed it.

Luke Evans will be at least 45 when a movie with him would be due. I say he's too old.

Agree, but you don’t think Dizzy is a member above the rest? Or, that he is at least viewed by Axl as somewhat significant?

No. I don't. I could imagine he gets more money than the others, due to seniority and maybe Axl sees his value as the only hold over from the UYI era, but other than that. Same deal. Hired hand.

It should never be Managements position to dictate what band members can publicly say or not. The band belongs to their members, not some suits (or in this case Brazilian leeches). They should be able to say whatever the fuck they want

Except Fortus, Ferrer, Reese and Reed are no members. They are hired hands. So there definitely are areas where they don't have shit to say and they can't say whatever the fuck they want and questions should be directed at management (which includes Axl and to a way lesser extent Slash and Duff). You also don't see Alice Cooper, Ozzy Osbourne, Nine Inch Nails, Megadeth and so on members do interviews talking about future plans of their employers/acts. They know that they are hired guys and whatever is going to happen is not for them to answer and reveal.

Not to be a nerd, but slash is slightly off with his timing here (though I understand he was just being tongue-in-cheek).

This interview is from 2018. Slash was in GnR from 1985-1996 and then again from 2016-2018, by this time. So that’s 13 years. Meanwhile, Frank has been in GnR since 2006, so that’s only 12 years, by this time.

But in the words of Peter Griffin: “Oh my god, who the hell cares?!”

LOL been doing the maths too before I reached your comment.  But yeah, from '93 until '96 there wasn't all that much going on GNR wise (at least not much playing), so I guess he's correct in saying that Ferrer is doing it longer.

As a Brazilian myself, I can confirm that this is not a cultural thing. An asshole is an asshole in any part of the world.

Damn. There goes the last hope for Fernando.:P

I guess he'll forever be the guy who got lucky😄

That's enough to hate him. ;) And for being Axl's lapdog.

I don't understand this mentality. So because it is "just a band" and you personally don't care that much, the rest of the fans of the band should be grateful for what they are getting even if the position Axl has chosen to take is that the band wants to move forward and yet they deliver nothing but nostalgia and we get a general update every half a decade?

If you want peace of mind and not spent your days, bickering like a broken record on a message board and getting worked up about the same shit, then yes.

Yeah, following GNR is such a joy!

It can be (or at least not the doom and gloom some here concentrate on), if you realize it's just a fucking band and stop to project all your wants on them. There are plenty of acts I like, so I don't focus all my attention on them. New album or not, I don't fucking care. Either it comes or it doesn't. Either I like what they come up with or I don't. Most likely it won't live up to what they've done before, anyway. So I'm good. The concerts as a whole, the whole actual experience (and no, that doesn't mean watching Youtube videos, which I almost never do), is good enough for me. Some people here take this shit way too fucking serious. Also, several of my favourites are dead (or at least retired), so I appreciate it all the more that at least I still get my GNR concerts.

How many managers has Axl fired? PLENTY!

Axl does not need a manager with an opinion and goals. He needs handlers to say "yes sir": Team Brazil.

If Team Brazil did not handle as Axl wanted, it would be done with. So this behaviour is what Axl wants and expects.

True. Though they could try to be an a bit more diplomatic intermediary between Axl and the world. But then again, knowing (as much as that is possible without actually knowing him) Axl, it's a thin line until he might feel that they are going behind his back.

I could be wrong, but I coulda sworn I even heard Marc Canter himself say that he heard that second-hand once. But maybe I’m misremembering.

Yes. Second hand bullshit. As if Canter has any current relations or knowledge about Axl, that doesn't come from whatever second or third hand. Ridiculous to believe that Axl would let himself be taken hostage by a brazilian nanny and her kids and let them take whatever priviledge away.
