did enjoy it a lot, but felt weird because a few things seem very forced and felt more of a big time spectacle than of a rock show.

Post your review right... now... damnit :D

I wanna know what seemed forced. I've been riding the fence about this whole thing, but this show looked like it was head and shoulders the best one yet.

  2. Axl's wardrobe is on point, man! The only thing I'd ditch is the oversized hats.

The jungle outfit he wears is the best, with the aviators.... And his hair is looking good.

I figure once his foot heals he'll shed 10 pounds if his intensity keeps up. Then he'll be looking killer ("all things considered" -Slash).

I think duff and slash material including VR should be fair game but I won't lose sleep over it.... The most exciting thing is when they differentiate it from the UYI tour... So Think About You, Beggars Hangers On... The intro to Get in the Ring... You ain't the first....The Garden... You're crazy... Anything goes... They should be mining that shit and drop LALD/KOHD.

  3. That video of Bruce singing Sin City, to me, is a perfect example of why AC/DC is such a genius band.....

Such a simple song in theory, and those guys covering it are all technically accomplished no doubt.... but they totally butcher the song -- take out all the dynamics and just turn it into a pummelling generic rock song both vocally and musically.

The world is gonna miss AC/DC when they're done for good -- sorry for the tangent haha.

To be honest, his voice is still very bad. Listened to the full Las Vegas show on Youtube and it was pretty bad. Definitely improved, but still a lot of "mickey mouse" in it. Maybe he should really consider dropping keys on those songs.

I've been pretty skeptical about his vocal potential.... I hate the mickey voice, and thought Vegas 1 especially was pretty disheartening... but the Mexico City gig last night had some seriously impressive moments.

It seems like he's getting better at finding a middle ground, if that makes sense, between full on rasp vs weak and impotent sounding.

Keep it up, Ax man! :D.

  5. Wow how good was Estranged! That was amazing! The fan response after the solos especially made me so happy... I hope it's like that in the US stadium shows. I actually liked how that video was from the stands... gives a better sense of the size and scope.

The times were all over the place in the old days. That is called rock n' roll. I just watched the coachella clips and I'm fairly impressed. The only song that sounded like shit was Nightrain which is my favourite Guns song; it just lacked something somehow; it sounded mechanical, lacking groove, and yes, played a bit too fast.

Did you like the April 9th Nightrain?

  7. The fuck!

I really, really didn't think this was going to materialize. As a fan of Axl and AC/DC, this is pretty damn cool. I'm curious how his voice is going to translate.... I mean Mickey as we know it..... that's just not gonna fly on Thunderstruck! Or Back In Black.... it'll suck the air out of a stadium faster than a vacuum bomb.

But his mojo will be seriously ignited if it all goes to plan.... AC/DC crowds fuckin' move!

Just gonna say you lot are delusional if you think Steven would never learn the uyi songs if they asked him to be their drummer. The guy would do anything to be the drummer in GNR again.

You think if they invited him back into the band he'd go "nah, not gonna learn the illusion songs, Matt FTW." ? Fuck no

    /rant

He said as much in one of his Eddie Trunk interviews in the fall. I'm a huge Steven fan and I'm rooting for him, but I didn't just make that up. It sounded like he didn't consider UYI to even be "real" GNR. He said he'd want to bring Matt on for them.

I mean maybe if they issued him an ultimatum and said if you want the job you'd be alone, learn all the songs, he'd try.... but he didn't seem interested and I don't know if he could, to be honest.... DTJ... Estranged... Coma. I think he'd keep healthy for a tour, but I don't know if he'd learn 20+ new songs capably and confidently for a stadium tour.
