I don't know, we have a tendency to push these things down the line.

It would be great if they played a new song... but I just don't see the point of getting hopes up, because they are pretty good at not following through😄 I also don't see why they'd wait, this euro run is long enough!

Europe is never an issue ticket-sale wise. USA is always an issue. I still feel they will get released either before the leg starts or during to drum up more sales.

Slash's playing is definitely faster and lost some melody, but live it isn't really noticeable and he brings a great energy to the show. My main issue with him (aside from the CD solos) is in the extended solos in RQ and KOHD. They're not interesting enough to justify the extra minutes spent on them, and even though the whole drawn out KOHD is dull, RQ could still be a killer live song if they got rid of the 7 minute solo in the middle.

This is what happens when you get off drugs/alcohol. Especially when that was the original fuel he used to write all of the classic riffs. There’s a magical songwriting  combo of heroin, cocaine and alcohol but unfortunately it also leads to a premature death.

Steven had surgery because he was injured, you sound like he made the decision because he couldn't sing anymore which is false.

I think the beginning 2000s "clear voice" was mostly the result of Axl didn't sing for years (1993-2000?) and it took him some time to go full rasp again (2006)...and yeah he was always hit & miss live, not the most steady live singer.

but yeah, he has not said his last word, he gives it all and he looks in better shape these days, I think the "belly factor" counts, the less fat, the better voice

He was very fat in 2016 and still sounded great. He’s leaner now and sounds horrible.

the difference is having a vocal coach/ practicing vs not

My wife has been through the whole Chinese saga w me. I rarely bring anything up anymore unless something has actually happened lol.

My wife was with me through the whole GnR saga too.

    Until she divorced me….

I think the wait time between Chinese and any new material was too much for her to handle.

Yea, there's been a pretty clear deterioration since then. Songs like WTTJ and OTGM had classic Axl vocals in 2016. It's been a steep decline since around 2018 though.

He still sounds weak on a lot of songs, but for the first time since probably 2017 he sounds good on about half the set. Hopefully they replace some of the weaker songs like TIL and SOD with Perhaps and the slow You're Crazy at some point...

I have to say. The best song of this concert was Chinese. Vocals amazing and the band as a whole sounded extremely tight.  Really wish they would do a one-off release of this current band’s rendition. Head and shoulders above the album cut. It’s harder and more chugging thanks to the change in drumming and Duff’s bass.

What I will say is that they need to get rid of Wichita Lineman, because it's a horrible cover, and Absurd, which is just a horrible horrible song. Two decades of this absolute garbage of a song haunting me jesus christ lol

It’s not even the LALD notes. It’s the basic stuff. Easy, Jungle, Nightrain….

    OG mygnrforum member here.

The show was fucking great. Axl sounded like Axl in the past 6-7 years. Sound mixing could be better (and it was back in 2017 and 2012). Overall, a really amazing rock n' roll show. Great respect for these guys, some of whom are around 60 years old.

I agree the live setting is great and mad respect to all of them but disagree that he sounds the same as he did since 2016.  It’s upsetting and you honestly never know what he’s doing (or not doing) to preserve his voice in between tours.
