1. Belgium - Sportpaleis - Antwerp 2010. Classic hair & clothes, the band sounded razor tight and Axl's voice was out of this world. Don't cry + vocals was making its way back into a pretty CD heavy setlist. Apart from PA issues early on, this was a brilliant show that still puts a smile on my face.
2. Belgium -Graspop Metal Meeting - 2006. First time I saw Gn'R live. A 2h wait in front of the stage, but a great vocal performance by Axl. Skinny cornrow & goatee Axl. 😁 Setlist had My Michelle which has become pretty rare.
3. Paris 2017 - Vocals sounded better than the other 2017 gig I attended. Arrived just in time for ISE. The after party at the hotel bar, with the owner being a fan, was the cherry on the cake. Typical NITL era setlist without surprises.
4. Belgium 2017 - TW Classic. My first NITL gig. My friends and I had quite a few beers. I focused more on partying and singing along then "analysing" the quality of the gig. Great fun.
5. Belgium 2018 - Graspop Metal Meeting. Again, great party atmosphere. Met some nice people and found a spot really close to the stage. Wasn't overly impressed by this gig as the setlist was about 95% the same as 2017.
6. Belgium 2012 - Graspop Metal Meeting. I was watching Hatebreed, while Axl decided an early start was due. Never "caught up" with the concert after joining. Vocals were disappointing compared to 2010. The addition of songs like Estranged was cool, however. I didn't bother to get close to the stage. The crowd liked the concert, though.
7. Belgium 2023 - Graspop Metal Meeting. Excellent set reintroducing PTU, Bad Obsession and so on. Sound engineering was terrible and Axl's vocals were off. Again very close to the stage, sipping on Belgian beers and meeting new people. Had more fun than in 2012, but the concert was the "weakest" one I attended, despite Axl being in a very good mood.
Honourable mentions:
- Belgium, Pukkelpop 2002: we missed the gig as it was sold out. Will never forgive my 19 yo self for that.
- Belgium, Werchter 1993: my older brother went. He got me into GnR at 10yo, which was obviously too young to join him.
- Axl/DC - 2016 - Werchter: technically not a Guns gig, but this would replace my number 3 in the ranking. Such a good time. Axl won over a lot of sceptics that night.

The only mistake is that I didn’t get to see it! Craziest year of Axl’s career from the fan perspective!
The Axl/DC show was marvellous. I do remember being not that impressed by the GNR gig(s) right after in Belgium & France.

It reminds me of that Halloween album he did.
It's a terribly unimaginative riff.

Can’t listen to the Japan Radio thing. It’s says you have to be in Japan. Did anyone rip it?
Same. My VPN doesn't seem to do the trick. Any noticeable differences besides the strings being a bit more upfront?

No. It's just more self pity
I like The Blues
Musically, Sorry is a very solid track, lyrically .., well. But that's how I feel about quite a few CD era tracks, which is my right as a subjective pos. 😉

There’s a guy on my Instagram post arguing that I got it all wrong and that it’s actually Robin playing on The General. Really, I can’t even
You just met the Robin guy. He's everywhere.

Still use mine daily at work I've ve had it for best part of 20 years and still going strong!
Still have one in the car with tons of cool songs I "curated" almost two decades ago. Brings me back to the "good old days" instantly.

Yes, it sounds too poor to be real. But it reminds me a bit of the leaks that had Bumblefoot playing over (I'm not "qualified" to tell if it's Bumblefoot or anyone else, though).
Yeah, that BBF in one channel 'Silkworms" sounded horrid. (No dig to Ron, of course)

lol. Wait until you hear the rumours about there being more disc's in that locker that have not leaked yet. Although according to The Chairman this is not true.
Yet, if I recall correctly, the chairman's loot was second hand and stuff could have been held back, ... theoretically. 😆

When CD's were sold out of Zutatut's locker there was allegedly paperwork in there too.
A photo on one appeared online but it is certainly not confirmed to be real by any stretch. If it is fake however then whoever made it did some research. Engel & Engel written in the top left corner there was a high powered legal firm of the time specifically for the music business. Don Engel the head Lawyer who passed away a few years back helped get Don Henley out of his contract. Anyway the point i was trying to make about Quicksong being Dragon seems unlikely if this is real, but hey we thought Monsters was The General so who knows?
If this paperwork is legit and stems from Zoot's time there then it shows Scraped was around at the time as well as "All I Ever Wanted"
Who knows if that is an original song or a cover version, If it's a cover my guess would be the Depeche Mode song.
Never seen this. The GN'R Cluedo game is better than the musical payoff almost. 😱

Yeah the solo sounded like the studio version. It rocked
You'll be getting exactly the same take, quality updated a tiny bit. I really don't get how anyone with a set of ears (musician /producer) could release the song in its current state, but GN'R will.

I posted this on the main thread, but this is maybe the place where it belongs. It gives additional context to what Beltrami said.
So yeah, me and @Blackstar were talking about The General and Monsters orchestral pieces played before the concerts. I'm not 100% sure, as it may have occurred one time or another, but I tried to find Monsters orchestra piece in several 2006 bootlegs, and could never find it. It was always just The General. Here my early findings:
- The General piece was played before concerts in 2009/10, but it was mostly used in 2006/07. I played guitar along with that in two recordings (not sure from which shows those were), and it seemed that the orchestra is a bit shorter than the leak, and it looped back to the beginning. It has a similar secondary melody (I assume those were horns?) in the ending that resembles the first few notes that Slash plays in the beginning of his outro solo.
Could not find video for a more complete recording, but here's a reminder of how The General sounded:
- Monters orchestral piece wasn't played together with The General, as far as I could find. I wasn't able to find any instance of it being played before 2010. This is one example:
- Our conclusion is: The General orchestra was the whole song, but shorter. It was probably never played together with the Monsters part, but we all (yeah, me included) assumed those pieces were mixed together and was the same thing because of how similar they sound.
Damn, this "switcheroo" is so fascinating. Who would have thought the intros belonged to completely different songs. I must say I really dig Beltrami's work & hope it gets featured more prominently in the final mixes. 🙏

I can see that. We get Monsters as "The General (and Monsters)". Had The General (demo) not leaked we would have never known about it. Interesting theory.
Through about this as well, but it would dbe such a shame to lose the "currently known as The General" chorus forever. It has an "In Bloom" kind of potential of the vocals get cleaned/cleared up.

A lot of people do and im glad cause i WANT people to enjoy whatever they please its just not my jam #GoWithChrist
Melodically it's a really strong chorus. It just sounds too much like "scrap vocals" overall and with a little work the song could be so much better. Hence my stance/hope that this is not the final product. But with Gn'R you just never know.

Yes for sure, I believe that to be Fortus too. That said both of their parts sound fantastic, be it Richard's ending part or Slash's really melodic middle solo
Imagine the Monsters leak being the Ashba version, proving everyone wrong. 😆

Just finished work and listening on my phone speaker as my earphones are shot. I just will never understand why with that incredible voice(s) he feels the need for the multi layers, effects and burying it to where you can't make out lyrics. The This I Love remix, gimme that voice up front, man.
Would love to hear the vocal isolated.
Last person/production to adequately represent Axl's voice on a record was the Angel Down producer. Before that: Better/CD (the songs), imho. Perhaps sounds half decent. Effects need to serve a purpose, in case of the "leftovers" it's layers for layers' sake.

The general has some state of grace vibes for sure
Yes, exactly. Highest pitch imaginable. I just wish they had cut back on the vocal effects / layered Axls and let both songs breathe a little. But that's nothing new since they CD era. 😆

It’ll be the first official release that nobody has heard before in 15 years, right? Even 15 years ago, only a few of those songs had never been heard before by the time the album was released. Axl runs such a laughably pathetic operation 🤦🏻♂️
Imagine giving the EP its first spin and hearing: "Blood in the water, oooooouuuuh, I see blood in-da-wateeeh." I'd wet my pants laughing and crying at the same time. 😆

Just saw it and sorry, it doesn't sound good. Timing off, volume up & down and out of tune. Would be the first to praise a decent live version of Perhaps, but this isn't it.
Axl/DC Live, best quality?
