Love the song obviously. So great to see them release anything at this point.
It's probably been discussed already but I it took a few listens to realize the song samples Eye On You during the bridge.
Strange choice, if you ask me. The song could have done without this addition (and the long Bridge) as it feels like 'plastered on' Axlisms. But very happy they finally released a song, nevertheless.

Was that really the words? Always heard “with all I am / I ask that you all be damned”
The Mother Goose Pickers' version is still the definive one. 🤘

I didn't know that about Loving The Alien being one of your favorites, but obviously I agree. I remember hearing Contraband for the first time and liking it, then getting to the end and being like "WHOA" through the entire last track.
And I agree of course about Chinese. If a lot of people gave it an honest chance, they'd find a lot they'd dig.
Everything about that fading outro on Prostitute is perfect, piano included.
And haha, yes, that's my bad on the wording in the video. I always forget you have to include a caveat for those artists who chose to go decades between sharing their art lol
I like a lot of the CD tracks a lot more in their instrumental form, especially TIL and Prostitute.

Tryin' to decide if I'm still missing the "What can I do? With a bitch like you".
Rhythmically it makes more sense. They could have just replaced 'a bxtch' with 'someone'. There, fixed.

That gives me hope with regards to a new version of Hard School.

Scraped is the worst song in the gnr catalogue, worse even than my world. Scraped makes my world look like bohemian rhapsody.
The title wasn't meant in a serious way of course, Scraped is kind of a dud. 😉

😂😜😎
Little fun topic: what would be your favorite vocal intro song?
Since this is a GNR thread, I'd go with the Sail away/Bad Time SCOM intro.

Just realized how cool the Bowie thing actually is. 👌

Request Eye On You. Email the file to them if you have to.
I would literally die laughing if heard the 'MacDaddy' lines popping up on my car radio. 😁

I think the lack of information regarding the shows is a major part of this though and ties in with the main subject of the thread.
No time to even send a message out regarding what is going on with the fans money.....but plenty of time to try and sell them some other clothing item!
I realise there are lots of considerations, logistical things etc, but sending out a message really isn't hard.
Nick Cave had similar....he sent out a message saying the tour wouldn't be happening but they were looking at other plans and to bear with them. About three weeks later (today) they announced those other plans- the dates would be taking place in 2021.
I don't actually expect GNR to do anything out of the ordinary with all this (it would be great, don't get me wrong, but sadly it's no surprise) but this tour thing for me really highlights that fans seem very low priority at present.
If there is one artist who cares about his audience, it's Nick Cave. His 'Conversations with...' shows are the epitome of giving back to the fans and enjoying their interest and affiliation with the artist and the man behind the performer. I had tickets for the canceled show and we have a date less than a month after the announcement. Be like Nick.

If there's a new intro as a possibility to be premiered... Would that not be proof slash has recorded new parts?
Or that they had 3 rehearsals in which Slash and Duff gave HS the 'Better' live treatment. 😁 Really hard to speculate on this one, I guess. I hope the rumors are true, however.

Best:
Sailing
Knockin On Heavens Door (overplayed but still that version Wembley 1992 gives me chills)
Whole Lotta Rosie
Worst:
Black Hole Sun
Slither
Come Together
Yeah, Slither is definitely not a song for him. The come together improv thing with Bruce was cool at the time because Axl came out to play, but the performance was veeeery lackluster. Wembley KOHD however:👌

Listening to Rock the Rock gauges how his current vocals would probably hold up. It was okay, but very, very different than any other Axl studio vocals. The magic and what brought me into his voice originally with Appetite was almost nonexistent once I looked past the novelty of the song. I very much worry how a new album would sound if Axl were to record new vocals.
"I'm ridin', I'm loading up my pistol, ooooooohwoooh." That's probably the best sound an engineer could get out of Axl nowadays. We'd be very lucky to get that, as it's been a while since the Bach al I'm. 😁

I’ve been in sales and marketing for over 20 years and all they are doing is shooting themselves in the foot. Those videos are 100% free publicity for the band.
Every time they take one down they are losing out on free marketing for the band. It’s the equivalent of saying “No, I don’t want you to market/promote our band for free”. Insane.
Counting 10 years and even without the professional experience under my belt: there are Instagram teens who do a better job at online promotion. A bit more awareness about this wouldn't hurt the band. 😉

Sounds good! I'm busy with work too and I'll have to write the song into a jangle-swaggering acoustic thing, whilst keeping it on point, but it shouldn't be difficult and we can keep it at the same or similar tempo, as its not too bad. It'll just take time to put it all together and we'll see what happens
Awesome. I'll give you some time to put it together with an 'unplugged' vibe & will check if I can borrow a decent recording mic from a friend in case the Shure comes up short. (not ideal to record vocals without pop filter in my experience). I'll record a clean and a processed vocal track and maybe we can fine some mixing talent here to finish it up. 👌

Actually I'm pretty good with acoustic stuff and have the facility to record quite hq stuff - inbox me up
Been mega busy at work, but let's give it a try. I'm willing to give the vocals a shot. Only have an audio interface, garage band & an SM58 and can't mix for sh**. 😁 I'll DM you tomorrow since I am at a wedding today.
