They are in Brussels I think. Duff is sure in Antwerpen with his daughter. Pink slip plays there tonight.

Alright, welcome to my hometown, Duff, in that case. 😁 Looking forward to the show tomorrow. Let's hope this one doesn't start early. Missed the first two songs last Graspop during a restroom break. 😑😭

I'll just never understand why anybody would be want to completely copy cat and rip off another artist. It's one thing to be a fan and enjoy paying tribute by covering some of their tunes. But to mimic to the point where they're dressing, moving, dancing and talking exactly like them? It's rather ridiculous IMO. And I'll just never understand why anybody would be impressed or excited to see someone do this. I mean, you obviously love the original artist -- and these imitators are clearly not them!

When comics do a short impression of a celebrity in their set --- it's often funny. But what if they did their entire act impersonating that person? Or better yet, what if an actor played a role as if they were another actor playing that same role? I'm not talking about Jim Carrey playing the role of Andy Kaufman or some biography like that where some level of impersonation is expected. But what if an actor intentionally tried to sound like and mimic the movements and speech of Morgan Freeman or Christopher Walken when performing a generic role? In reality, they'd never land a role doing that ... but in theory they'd be ridiculed for it.

    Same thing applies here IMO.

Years ago I used to be a musician. And when I performed others tunes, I stayed true to the basic concept of their song(s) but I brought my own unique style and sound to it. GN'R did the same thing when covering other artists songs. They never tried to imitate Paul McCartney or the Stones or Bob Dylan or the Misfits. They brought their own sound and look to it.

I just don't get the excitement over someone that copycats every single detail and doesn't bring their own unique qualities or something new and different to the table.

Lastly, those that mock AXL by saying that some of these imitators sound better than him are beyond comical to me. One, AXL is 56 years old now with a lot of wear and tear. These people copy catting him are far younger and/or without 35 years and thousands of gigs under their belts. They wouldn't sound as they do today given the same circumstances. And none of them sound like AXL during his prime. And finally, the entire reason these people are doing this and people are listening is because W. AXL ROSE pioneered a sound and style that nobody before ever had. Nobody has or ever will do what he did better than he did it. Period. Same goes for the likes of Steven Tyler, Freddie Mercury, Ozzy, David Lee Roth, etc.

Before I end this post let me be clear that I understand that we all have our own opinion and everybody's likes and tastes are different. If you enjoy this tribute band stuff, more power to you. I'm just saying that I don't get it and explained why. Doesn't make me right. Doesn't make me wrong. It's just my point of view. But go ahead and trash me if you'd like. :)

I can totally relate to what you say. Even though I find the concept of talented musicians devoting their time to imitate/emulate a particular artist odd, my lightharted side would have a blast listening to a tribute singer blasting out exaggerated Axl'eque rasp. Nothing more, nothing less. :)

So they're going to present the same well received show to Europe they've been playing everywhere else? Don't they know how boring that'll be for people that like the check the set lists of shows they weren't at afterwards?

I actually saw that same show twice last year (Paris & Belgium). That doesn't keep me from going again. Gn'R concert is becoming my new "event of the year". Always great fun, be it a little more exepensive and predictable every year. 😁

based on what the leaker said, there actually are TWAT and The Blues from the same sessions existing, or more precisely, he probably also has those two.

(and if everything goes smoothly, we should be getting those two somewhat later... speculations were until Christmas, but don't hold your breath please).

+ we know that Jackie Chan aka Checkmate is complete somewhere out there, and also complete versions of those 5 songs that leaked as excerpts in 2013.

everything else is just pure speculation with no proofs whatsoever, so don't trust any "guaranteed" leaks circulating anywhere without hearing some proof people!

especially, don't trust anything at GNFNRS forum, that place is 100% pure bullshit.

Checkmate - Jackie Chan: now that sounded like a song with a potentially addictive chorus. Haven't heard the Maddy leak even though I like the song. 2010 Live versions were so damn great.

I don't have to watch it on youtube. I saw it live.

It's true. Saw GNR twice, AXL/DC once, and at the Rock or Bust show he sounded mythical. I had tons of fun at the GNR gigs (Paris, Belgium), but the vocals -although alright for the remainder of the show- sounded way different. Seing the guy on stage, however, is always quite something.?

Enjoy! I will be in Miami in August 8! My second time too....but really I hope for more AC/DC.

Haha, depending on the the "twists of faith" (thank you, "Better") life has in store for me, I could be living in Miami for a couple of months due to professional choices, from January 2018 & on, so let's indeed hope they make a comeback around that time. :) I have never attended a concert in the US.

Well, there is very little grit, or drive in his voice. During the stream while reaching for some of the higher and gritier parts, I clearly heard those voice cracks that started to happen while he was with AC/DC. Overall, he used his falsetto again for most of the show, a voice that many posters here think sounds a bit like the disney character Mickey Mouse.

Come on guys, seriously now. Something is up with Axl's voice. He is trying, the shows are still good, but there is something off about him this leg. Hopefully Ron Anderson, his vocal coach, is there to help him get through that and improve, and not simply as a visitor.

I noticed the same thing. When he was going all out with AC/DC, the sudden (and very brief) cracks certainly didn't sound too healthy. I saw Axl five times now: 2006, 2010 (GNR) - outstanding vocals. I was beyond impressed and so were my 'no hardcore fan' friends. 2012: decent show, but terribly clean vocals. I adore him as a singer and performer, but the gritless voice just isn't for me. 2016 (AC/DC): just when you rule out a ressurection of the almighty chainsaw roar, it grabs you by the balls. Flawless performance and astonishing screams. You start to notice he's not the young puppy he was 10 years earlier, but that made his vocals even more impressive. 2017 (GNR): I have a feeling something's damaged and he has to hold back. I guess questions about his voice means 'the interview's over' -if they ever decide to do another interview- but It would be so interesting to know to what extent the vocal ups and downs are deliberate or a consequence of damage sufferd along the way. Please Axl, grant us that book some day and dedicate a paragraph or two to your voice, it WILL sell. All in all: I had the most fun & partied the hardest at last week's show, so no complaints. I knew he wasn't sounding his best, so I just let the songs get the best of me.

Is this festival annual? Has anybody been there before?

I have a friend who is willing to go to the venue for me to get merchandise... but because it's a big festival rather than a stadium concert, I'm worried that he might not be able to get access to the merchandise stalls without a ticket. Can anybody tell me whether they will be selling the official merchandise in a ticketed area or an area open to the public?

    Thanks!

If not, I might have to take up someone's offer of buying their ticket. I'm willing to buy a cheap ticket for my friend just so as he can go in and buy merchandise if that's what is necessary.

Last year, AXL/DC gave one hell of  show there in a seperate occasion & the 'classic" edition featured Bruce Springsteen (speaking about another incredible 3hr date with a top artist). There are plenty of official merch stands in the festival area and you'll be enjoying cool Belgian beers. The only con I can name, was last years excruciating exodus by public transport. It literally took us 3 hours to get on the shuttle bus. :) But have fun, my friends and I will do the same!
