  1. That's the big question - will Slash's ego allow Axl's approach? Or can they meet somewhere in the middle, which would probably be the best scenario?

In the end, I'm much more for Axl's approach.

Slash NEEDS to be challenged at this point of his career, it really pisses me of that he wants to do ANOTHER boring album with Myles. :D

So for Guns, more power to Axl!

People saying they've never heard a bad Its so Easy, lol. Of course you haven't.. because it's easy to sing, especially for Axl as its all in low register apart from a bit at the end. This is why he opens with it, it's the best to warm up with rather than going straight into a high pitched screamer. Also why Scott Weiland felt comfortable singing it (he didn't do any high pitched GnR songs because he would have sounded rubbish).

Plus Duff is backing him up.

Loaded's albums Dark Days and The Taking are very good. The EP Wasted Heart is also worth checking out, the song No More is a gem.

When it comes to purely solo albums: his officially unreleased record Beautiful Disease is pretty darn good. The album Believe in Me, sans the song 10 Years, is utter shit.

I listened to the album a couple of days ago again, I found it surprisingly good. 10 years is one of the weakest, if not THE weakest songs, imo. :D

I always loved Jeff Beck's Becks guitar work on Fucked up Beyond Belief, super cool.

to cut story short...listening to Adler for 5 minutes makes one wanting to turn him off. he is mentally on the level of a 5 year old, now imagine being on the tour with him and having a choice. there is no way he will ever board that train.

Yeah, that's pretty much it I guess. It's understandable they won't have him back on a permanent basis, but man did they sound like Guns N' fucking Roses with him! There is no better drummer for this band than Steven Adler, he was,  is and always will be No1.

I reckon they should do what Nine Inch Nails and Queens of the Stone Age did on their tour a few years ago and have turns on whose opener and whose headliner.

Would be great for back to back shows on cities. One night guns opens for the stones the next night the stones open for guns.

The Rolling Stones opening for Guns? WTF? :D

This might be just me but from the interviews I've read from Slash over the past few years, I don't get the feeling that GnR is his band. He doesn't talk about Guns in the same way that he talks about SMKC. There is no sense of ownership from him like in the past when he referred to GnR as "my band". The subtext I get from his words seems to suggest more of a handsomely paid hired gun with some high level managerial/creative cache - he doesn't sound like a part-owner of that brand/band. Put another way, he acts like a 20-25% shareholder who sits on the board of GnR corp with Axl, the chairman, controlling 50-60% of the company.

I think that's why people feel this is just another iteration of Nu Gnr - because Axl still appears to be fully driving the band's affairs while Sluff are simply along for the ride. Hence, the non-committal answers from Slash and Duff about the future of the band with some positive prognosticating because the three partners re-discovered how much time and money they pissed away with their foolish feud.

All that being said, Marc Canter mentioned in 2016 that the partnership is active again so who the hell knows. Given Axl's MO though, it seems highly unlikely that the old partnership has been rejuvenated without some major amendments to it so that Axl can legally continue to run the band as he sees fit without interference. @Blackstar thoughts?

Yes, feels like Slash is some kinda guest musician, the way he talks about GnR these days.

Is it just me or is the wording ‘odd’ when he talks about the GNR album which ‘they haven’t done anything with’? It almost reads that there is one in the can which needs to be dealt with? Which could be true bearing in mind how much material was ready to go before the reunion PLUS there has been ample time over the last 4 years for overdubs/rework to have happened.

No, you're the only one that reads it like that. :D

I think the original poster was referring to that It's pretty obvious that patton would never want to be the frontman of a band like velvet revolver. If you read/see some interviews with him (or fnm) it will become really obvious. Besides that- Patton's been asked about VR before and he pretty much said that he thinks they Were a joke.

Yes, that's what I meant. Patton would never want to be associated with them.

Wasn't part of the story that Hetfield wanted Faith No More and Axl wanted Body Count to open (not sure if it's mentioned in the video). I also thought I read years later, oddly enough, that Slash had asked Mike Patton to front Velvet Revolver after Scott left, which Mike turned down

Axl loved Faith No More's music, afaik.
And yes, VR (or Slash) asked Mike Patton to be their singer, which is quite delusional I would say.:D
