  1. I think despite ripping him to shreds for it people secretly (or not) thrive on the past drama. Happy = boring in some eyes.

The Lebeis management has made some good decisions and some not so great, like all the management GNR has ever had.

And that would relinquish any claim to being a GN'R fan. If you find misery to be more entertaining than the steady development of the band, then you are nothing more than a leech. And I say you plurally not in specific regards to yourself.

Would you care to point out the great decisions which TB have so far gotten wrong? It's alright saying that, but your statement contains no substance.

I think the whole fan club debacle speaks for itself, if they weren't willing to do a proper job that could be classes as a bad decision. The tagged on private gigs on the last tour or at least the decision to not keep the band informed was a questionable decision. I'm not saying they are doing a bad job but just like any management things aren't perfect.

I conceded that the fan club featured on the official website didn't meet anybody's expectations. However, TB quickly ratified that by producing the Paradise City backplane.

The private shows entailed lucrative sums of money (1 million reportedly to do one in Russia) which will help facilitate the plans and aspirations of the camp/Axl.

I don't have a problem with private gigs as you say money is money but the way the situation was handled with the band was questionable which lead to BBF's angry tweets. A situation that could have been avoided maybe. Like I said though nobodies perfect.

I wonder if they will go the distance? Now that break up would put the soap back into soap opera!

  4. I'm sure this point has been made before but as a singer you are very naked on stage therefore are giving a piece of yourself more than a musician with an instrument. The instrument, guitar, drums whatever... acts as a bridge or barrier between you and the audience and offers some protection of self. This is one of the reasons that many frontmen are revered and cosseted by those who manage them despite their flaws, Jagger and Tyler spring to mind.

  5. So if Niven had his way and Axl was booted after AFD with no rights to the name what would he have done? Also how would GNR have panned out without him? Bearing in mind they only became hugely successful and wealthy during the UYIs period.

I think firstly Axl would have embarked on a lengthy legal battle to stop them using the name, maybe he would have been successful. I wonder if more people would have sided with him under that scenario?

I don't think he would have gone solo or joined an existing band, I think his desire to build from ground up would still have been there.

GNR might have still had a chance at that point of having a new singer accepted but the next major albums would have been nothing like UYIs. I suspect they may have come apart even without Axl due to the many addiction issues.

  6. Does anybody think with all of Axl's New Age beliefs there's like some connection with these people he's surrounded himself with and birthdays? I mean fuck three Birthdays?! GTFO LOL.

Two of my sons have birthdays this month, the third has his birthday the day before Axl's and my MIL has the same birthday as Axl. Does this mean I qualify to be part of the camp? #worthatry

  7. Axl may well be in a difficult position regarding new releases. If a lot of time and money has been spent on the stuff in the vault and he considers it to be good material I can see why he would want to go with that. I can also imagine that guys like BBF and Ashba would want to write and release their own stuff from a career and royalties perspective. They are probably not thrilled at the prospect of promoting and touring for another 5 years with more second hand music however good it might be.

Imagine the situation if CD2 is released and Ashba is interviewed about it, standard questions are usually about what inspired the lyrics, the process of making it etc... What's he going to say? The only way it would vaguely work is if Axl promoted it himself and he doesn't seem fond of doing that these days.

As has been mentioned before some sort of deluxe Chinese boxset would be a good option, it would recoup some money, give fans a chance to hear the stuff then follow quickly after with an awesome album from the current line up and tour that.

That's what I would do if I ruled Axl's world!

If Axl decides to release good stuff unreleased from the Vault, BBF and DJ would be put in difficult positions with interviews talking about it. Because it wouldn't be their material on the record.

Yes that's my point. What would they say when asked about it? It seems an unfair position to put them in and I suspect this is why BBF is fairly vocal about wanting to write and record. A release of more CD material would also bring Buckethead and Finck back into the GNR spotlight which is something they need to avoid if they want focus on the current line up. Buckethead and Finck may not want this either.

  9. Can't wait!

Are the merchandise stores still open after the show? I'd assume they would be, just don't want to buy some stuff and have to hold onto it during the show haha

Wear a vest top to the show then you can buy before the show and wear it instead of holding it. #helpfulfashiontips
    A vest top?
I think he's saying wear a vest and no shirt to the gig

    She. I am a bootiful Laydee :-)

  10. They all needed each other to create something as big as GNR. Outside of GNR Axl and Slash stood the best chance of achieving success because a charismatic lead singer and a talented lead guitarist are always going to have more appeal than a bassist, rhythm guitarist or drummer. It's sort of a musical top trumps and mostly applies to all bands, with the odd notable exception.

  11. Why do people care so much about this? Not wishing to make this a Slash v Axl thing but there are pictures out there showing Slash's thinning hair but he sticks a hat on and no one cares. I would have said Slash has the more iconic hair so shouldn't we be worrying more about him if anyone?

No one here cares so much about Slash's hair because Slash isn't in Guns N' Roses any longer.

No. People don't care about Slash's hair because

1- he was never a "sex symbol" like Axl

2- he's aged a lo better, according to most people

3- he uses the hat to cover it

Not a sex symbol. Really? I think he probably was, Axl might have had the edge on him but I'm pretty sure he had a substantial army of admirers.
