Well, fanfics come from those nerds who write stories about their favourite manga/anime characters. But what happens when these strange people like rock music or music with guys using make up? ....

I don't know if you know the band "Tokio Hotel", well, in the band there are two twin brothers, and these creepy girls write about them fucking each other xD. Is awesome how this crap go so far, Fifty shades of Grey started being just a Twilight fanfic, and that stupid girl who wrote became famous. In what world we live in?

I didn't know that about Fifty Shades but I haven't read it or Twilight.

I think this thread needs to be consigned to Attitude despite it's educational qualities.

I downloaded the green day albums. It was an interesting idea but a bit overkill. I liked UNO best, the other two seemed to have weaker material in my opinion. Like many other multiple releases they could have condensed and had one really good album.

I think Sorry is the better song. I hope the process was cathartic for both of them though!

Why are you hassling him about his animal rights crusade? I agree constant tweets about any subject get a bit tedious but just unfollow him if it's not your bag.

Sometimes less is more. This isn't their usual crowd of fans, they could deliver a kick ass 90 minutes and leave them begging for more. :-)

I don't understand why when Jarmo is an inner circle member worthy of an onstage happy birthday sing a long, the band members don't post there or do exclusive content. He obviously works hard to create positive publicity for GNR, it would have been easy to make htgth the official forum or incorporate it into the NightTrain site but instead they created this paradisecity thing. I am sure I read about another band that made a fansite their official site. Am I missing something? Does Axl not like htgth?

You could literally write a sociology essay on MyGNR. I think when you deprive somebody of something; it only makes them want it more, even if it isn’t necessarily worth it. I use the analogy of someone you’re attracted to. If you like them and want more, but they rebuff your affection, it has the effect of you wanting them even more, even if they aren’t that big a deal. It’s a flaw in the human psychology. Whereas you look at another girl or boy, and they completely reciprocate your interest, possibly too much, it’s weirdly offputting even though in reality, more rewarding.

I doubt it will happen to the same extent again. The age of the internet has diluted things, people are not brought together by the love of music or a band in quite the same way anymore. Social media has made artists more accessible and less of a mystery and I don't think a lot of todays young generation find self identity in music in quite the same way as we did. Plus as someone else said labels don't promote bands in the same way and with the exception of boy/girl manufactured bands a lot of todays focus is on solo artists of the Beyonce and Rihanna type.

I hope it changes, I would love a big RnR comeback but I can't ever see it being like 1992 again.

There will always be Dad rock because everyone has a Dad and no matter what decade it is from people will remember what their parents listened to. Current music will become Dad music in twenty years time.

Even though I love the old vids I also love watching Rock Am Ring 2006. It kind of reminds me that when Axl is on form it doesn't matter who the musicians are because you are not watching anyone else on that stage.

I suppose it is a lot of people. A bit like hosting a wedding reception every night. :-)

I would go for that just for the private temperature controlled bathrooms. I'm not a big fan of fighting through the masses and queuing.

I also wonder if perpetuating a public feud with Slash serves a purpose with the label wranglings too. If the powers that be got a whiff of there being a chance that he would work with Slash or get on a stage with him the way he has done with Duff and Izzy any support there is for the current line up would vanish. I think all this not in my lifetime/cancer stuff helps keep the wolves at bay.

I could see Frank being replaced if Brain wanted to come back. I know that's not the same as leaving.
