  1. I'm a bit concerned about Axl's legal team at this point especially following on from the Activision case. Shouldn't the contract have been watertight in the first place about what they could and couldn't show or do companies like VH1 or whoever owns it not give a shit about contracts?

  2. There is no reason for anyone to retire at 51 health withstanding. If Axl is happy doing what he is doing then so be it. The fanbase might not like or agree with some of it but there is jack shit we can do other than stop following them which most probably won't do because there is always that chance with Axl that he might one day do something that you don't want to miss. We all have Stockholm Syndrome!

  3. Or have Slash n Duff got involved as the other two stakeholders in old guns material? Might they have had objections?

Doubtful it had anything to do with them.

If you remember back in 2010 when Slash did the MTV Classic Launch concert in Australia that aired a bunch he played a bunch of old Guns songs without issue.

VH1 Classic has also shown some of Slash's 2012 Download set and that included old Guns songs.

Lord knows if Axl had a way of pulling Slash off the air playing old Guns material he absolutely would have. That must mean there is no issue with any of them doing it.

I think live material is different though, sure I have read before that the old videos etc.. have to be agreed by all three parties before licencing. Might be wrong though.

I doubt highly they pulled the entire concert over showing some music videos before hand, which they do almost all the time anyway. There is no embargo against VH1 classic showing GNR videos, which I have seen just flipping through channels when they have a video block going on.

Fair enough. I don't have VH1 so I don't know what they play. I guess the contractual issues might be due to their editing of the live footage then.

  5. I can't believe people are still defending this shit. Whatever the reason for the cancellation, this show should never have been broadcast. It is not up to standard and as a business decision it stinks.

Maybe they just wanted to cement the idea in the mind of the general public that Axl can't deliver anymore. You can't blame them, every major TV broadcast by post 2000 GNR has been a disaster.

Releasing a great concert from 2010 would have only confused people.

I don't think the general TV viewing public would know the difference between a 2010 show and a 2013 show so I doubt that would matter.

But they MAY get a shocking surprise WHEN they attend a concert in 2013 expecting Axl to sound like the 2010 version they had just watched on TV. Either way it's still not good.

Maybe not, all this advertising then canceling stuff creates a more resounding negative impression though. It's the kind of stuff that media outlets pick up on. They would be better just going through with it once the ball is rolling IMO.

  7. Is this the most likely scenario? Did Axl and management believe they would be showing plenty of new era stuff and were somehow duped into agreeing to a 5hr nostalgia fest?

Or have Slash n Duff got involved as the other two stakeholders in old guns material? Might they have had objections?

Any thoughts? Are we going to see a new lawsuit being launched soon?

  8. Yeah, he has a cool toilet!. :lol:Found it:

Yes that's the one. I was shamefully fascinated by his loo. I don't know if it is standard in the US to have them all my toilets are quite basic!

  9. I remember seeing a video on YouTube of Axl showing a female presenter round his house. Think it was German or Swedish, the girl was very pretty so I think that might have had something to do with it. He showed her some artwork and she ended up in his bathroom trying to work out what all the buttons on his flash toilet did Lol!

  10. My feelings about it are conflicted. Yes it's funny, badass, RnR shit but the consequences were terrible and a lot of people got hurt. He takes it too far by quitting the concert.

    Axl know your badass limits!

I also think the outfit is ridiculous but strangely one of my favourites. No one else could have got away with it. Can you imagine James Hetfield wearing this?

  11. We've had Axl and Bumblefoot visit here and post

Do you think any other band members--either of present day Guns, or Old GN'R, will ever visit this forum?

    I'm kinda surprised Slash hasn't.

I recall Marc Canter saying in a post that Slash would never read these forums. I think it was in response to someone asking him how Axl or Slash would feel about his Canter Banter section.

  12. This is a ridiculous argument. No one from the original band has downplayed Axl's contributions. I think Slash has stated that Axl wrote 41% of AFD, how much he contributed melody wise probably can't be proven but I very much doubt it was nothing, they worked on these songs whilst performing them live and honing them. There are a lot of things that Axl can be called out on but this isn't one of them.

  13. Axl fans like to re-write history. Unfortunate for them that Axl had little input on Appetite, GN'R's most successful record.

How come he has the largest share of the royalties for that album then or at least he did before he gave some up to appease Steven.

  14. I don't think it's too much of a stretch to imagine that there are people who think that Axl might be there. Not everyone who is a fan will read the forums, added to that the high cost of the M&G is suggestive of something special. The information given about these events should state that Axl does not attend them. I suspect the promoters don't do this because the take up would probably drop off significantly.

  15. I wanna see a show where Adler Opens, Followed by Loaded, Followed by Slash, Followed by GNR.

If I was a festival organiser like Hellfest etc... that's what I would be aiming for. Wonder if Axl would go for it for the glory of being top of the bill or whether the risk of running into Slash backstage would be too much?
