  1. Will GNR be announcing all the North American tour dates in short order?

I think this phased system of releasing dates is designed to sustain any form of interest a US tour creates.

My guess, and it's only a guess, is that they put the midwest & Florida dates onsale first since they're in a bit slower markets. Chicago got sacked by the bad economy, and it would make sense to give sales and buzz around here a jump, before the big tour announcement comes.

They know MSG, Philly, etc. will most likely sell out. When those go onsale, tickets will probably be scarce within days. As we've seen in past tours, the midwest is a bit trickier.

Either way, I think we'll get a big announcement within this coming week.

  2. isn't The General suppossed to be the sequel to Estranged? imagine if they play Estranged, and then Axl says "here's a new song called 'The General'." rock3

If Estranged and The General are played at the same show, man, I dunno if I'll be able to wait until November 15. :D

  3. Some of you are just odd.

If after almost 20 years of not singing it, Robert Plant were to perform Stairway To Heaven would it be a big deal? Yes it would. Just like Axl Rose singing Estranged live for the first time since 1993 is a big deal.

Yes, new music would be awesome. Hell, I'm still hoping for the debut of The General. But you cannot deny how awesome it would be if Axl busted out Estranged...

  4. Alright, let's kick this off!!

This will be my 3rd GNR concert at Allstate, saw em at the sold out 2002 show, and the very close to sold out 2006 show. Both were amazing, and I'm sure this one will be one to remember as well.

There's a lot of cool places for a pre-show party in the immediate area. Any ideas?

  5. Would love to see Avenged Sevenfold rock3

That would be way cool. Bas is cool, but his inclusion will do nothing for ticket sales. Some new blood could be the deciding factor for how well the US tour does.

  6. I doubt they'd care.

This. There's thousands of fans on the forums that are crying out for the next album on a daily basis. Do you think that moves Axl or Universal at all? My guess would be no. There seems to be a mountain of politics behind the scenes that goes into releasing a GNR album. Those politics are probably the only thing that would motivate a release from here on out.

But yes, I would buy it. ;)

  7. If some of the hardcore fans were more positive and subsequently sent Axl good vibes, instead of always ragging on him, then and only then will the time be proper for him to present his vision with us.

But as it stands, all the negativity and complaining has only served to isolate him further as he symbolically extends his middle finger to all who would seek to cut him down. And in his spiting of all the assholes, the collateral damage is widespread and all fans suffer because of a few. You know this to be true. We must encourage him, not incessantly detract like children.

    Spot on

C'mon. I mean, I get what he's saying there, but Axl isn't Tinker Bell. It's not like if we all start clapping and sending happy positive thoughts his way, he'll stand up and put out CD2. That's utterly silly.

Axl will do what Axl wants, when he wants to do it. Period.

  8. Yeah, nothing to be alarmed about. In the last 24 hours we have learned that Ron may or may not be able to tour (Not his fault, obviously, but still puts the tour in question) and also Tommy tells us that not only is the next album is not due out soon, it may actually be rerecorded before it's considered for release.

Or was that just the serial-hacker?

  9. That's gotta be tough on Ron. This is going a be a long tour outing, and he is in a lot of pain I honestly wouldn't blame him if he made the decision to stay behind. Nothing is worth risking your health for.

If the do need Bucket to fill in for Ron, my guess is that decision would have to be made fairly soon, as I'm sure he'd want to rehearse with the band a bit before Rio. We'll see.

  10. Yeah, WTF?

Is this some kind of parody? Is Tommy making fun of Axl's Twitter hacking? I seriously thought it was some kind of joke first.

Either their passwords suck, Twitter is the unsafest big website ever, or something weird is going on, or all 3 options.

I think you might've just hit the nail on the head. This is just too coincidental for some 'serial-hacker'.

  11. No way DJ is going to record over Bucket's tracks. Ron maybe.

I really feel anyone re-recording another players parts is unfair both to the music and both players?

Fair enough if Axl wants to write new material with the new band.

But if Chi Dem is an interlocking opus split over 3 parts, I really don't see how a different set of musicians can recapture that vibe 10 years down the line?

    EXACTLY.

Ron's already recorded stuff for the next album, but reinventing the wheel just to make Frank & DJ more involved in it seems like a tremendous waste of time and money. Like I said, it'd be cool for a few of the songs to feature DJ, like Ron did for CD. But redo them completely? Hell no.

  12. Tommy's latest tweet:

@Mackarillo Don't worry, Chinese tour will eventually stop and new material WILL be out

I know Tommy means well, and I think it's awesome that he's reaching out to the fans, but the reality is that it's mainly up to Axl when the fans get to hear new music. Frankly, that scares me.

  13. Ron also played rhythm guitar on several tracks but I am not sure which.

Ron's words were that he recorded on "a good handful" of tracks that did not end up on the first album. It would have been cool if Axl did the same with DJ during their 11 months off, and had it set for release in time for the U.S. tour. But then again, that makes just way too much sense for Axl to even consider such a thing.
