  1. I'd like to simply add that all the shit we were fed over all these years about multiple albums, tracks, etc. really makes a giant pill to swallow, if they are really going to go ahead spend what will inevitably become years rerecording these songs.

I would have really liked to hear the versions of the songs that were recorded by the people who, you know, wrote and inspired them.

  2. This was posted in another thread, but as it's pretty big friggin' news, I felt it should probably have it's own seperate discussion.

    From Tommy's Twitter...

@SoulMonster A lot of the songs we did that weren't on Chinese Democracy may be redone and put on the next album. Unsure yet.

My personal thoughts, the way GNR operates during and post-production may see this album delayed for years more on end, if they do in fact re-record all of the tracks for the next album.

I think it would be cool to incorporate DJ on several tracks, but is it really necessary to "redo" the entire album?? :shrugs:

Well, that settles it. We are literally never getting another GNR album. Fuck.

the best thing we can hope for is that axl just had dj redone a bunch of parts for the next album on the chinese leftover stuff but god knows if that will ever happen

Man, I hope you're right. Because if they do what Tommy's saying, as in rerecording all the songs...We'll still be talking about this fucking album in 10 years, the way Axl operates during and post-production...

They're back!!! Guns N' Roses - whose four May 2006 shows at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom sold out in less than 3 minutes - have reclaimed the throne that was always theirs. From stellar reviews to audience adulation, Guns N' Roses' recent shows have proved that they are back in a big way.

Concert goers weren't let down as Axl Rose and band mates Tommy Stinson (bass), Richard Fortus (guitar), Robin Finck (guitar), Chris Pitman (keyboard), Dizzy Reed (keyboard), Brain (drums) and new guitarist Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal burned through Guns N' Roses classics such as "Welcome to the Jungle," "Paradise City," "My Michelle," "Mr. Brownstone," "November Rain" and "Sweet Child O' Mine." Axl Rose commented, "We have had an amazing tour and it has been fantastic for the band and I to experience this. I want to thank everyone in Europe and the UK for inspiring us and for giving us the opportunity to play for them. We are now looking forward to the US in September."

Why in God's name would they use a 5 year old press release?

  5. I agree with KBear. I think the main reason that you're seeing this huge outpouring of fans wanting to hear new music is because we see both Rio and the U.S. tour as a great means for Axl to move GNR forward.

Chinese Democracy was awesome, but 10+ years of touring on it is more than enough. Who could blame us for wanting something new, and to move on WITH the band?

They can always play TWAT, Catcher, Better etc. live, but it's time to move on to hopefully greener pastures and introduce some new music to the fans.

  6. Tough to tell what a guaranteed hit will be.

I would have bet money that Better and Street of Dreams would have been hits. And that Catcher, TIL and Prostitute would have had a strong posibility to be hits. IMO, CD is just as good as either Illusions.

Better has ALL the ingredients to be a Rock hit today.

Keep in mind AFD did not start REALLY selling until over a year after it was released when the SCOM video hit and the single was promoted. Without promotion, it really doesn't matter how good it is, it won't catch on with the public until they're basically told they're supposed to like it. It's all subjective until then. There's a lot of amazing music out there that will never be discovered due to lack of promotion.

So, in a nutshell, if Axl puts out new music, he should probably get behind it this time.

  7. Did the make an announcement before ticket sales began for the previous tours?

Just checked the HTGTH news archive and, strangely enough, we're not far off from what went down for the 2006 NA Tour. The Florida dates were the first to pop up in mid September, and went onsale shortly after. The "official" tour announcement came from management on the 29th, with the majority of the dates going onsale the following week.

  8. I still believe there´ll be an album this fall to coincide with the tour.

But if there isn´t it´s just another part of the dysfunctional GNR-saga. It´s just no reason or rhyme.

It's already this fall now and there's not been a single hint that there may be a new album. That and band members saying that they've not even seen the inside of a studio together makes me think we're seeing nothing this year!

consider that this band is and will be a retainer band and that the material from the CD sessions is in the "can" there is no need for this band to be in the studio doing what most bands do and that is write and create and record together.

If there are new songs unheard of by the public they likely will be presented via computer to various band memebers who will then learn them and then do a rehearsal session prior to the short tour to commence.

What could be a perfect venue to hype and present any new material is here on this tour...well see.. well see... "fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me....... fool me for the fuckin 15th time and I seriously need to examine why I spend my time and money on these fuckers when its obvious that its like looking for life amoung the tombs.

    Spot on.

  9. Would be nice if they combined those two, and followed it up with an album.

I agree that their best bet is to release the next album and tour the states at the same time. Then again, they tried to do that in 2006, and we all know how that ended. Axl can't seem to do two things at once nowadays. :shrugs:

  10. To go on a US Tour three years after the promotionless release of Chinese Democracy seems just to weird to be true.

Axl must surely have something up his sleeve, I´d say CD2!

You would hope so, but it wouldn't be the first time an irrational decision be made on behalf of GNR. :shrugs:

  11. I think it's obvious that the band has wanted to tour the states for sometime now, regardless of the case's outcome. Truth is, I'm just bored with the whole Chinese Democracy Tour thing. That's not to slight the album. Hell, I'd be pissed if Aerosmith toured Pump for going on 11 years.

Just tour in support of something, anything, that's not Chinese Democracy.

  12. There was a rumour, though, that a finished product had been given to the record company but rejected by them, but has that ever been confirmed? If not, I am afraid Axl wants to tinker a bit with the twin album before it is released.

I remember, and that rumor proved to be completely false. As far as the 'tinkering' goes, that's what I'm afraid might delay the next album for God-knows-how-long, much like it did for Chinese Democracy.

  13. But there is always a chance of the release of CD's twin album.

This is pretty much true since, A: The recording is finished and B: It can be released whenever it's mastered & Axl and the label come to terms about...whatever.

Still, you'd think we'd have heard something by now, in regard to a 2011 release.

  14. I still believe there´ll be an album this fall to coincide with the tour.

But if there isn´t it´s just another part of the dysfunctional GNR-saga. It´s just no reason or rhyme.

I have to agree. The fact that we're into September now and we've yet to hear a single credible rumor regarding new GNR music is a little troubling.

  15. Let's say Axl wants to do a "proper US tour" now that the album was released ( 3 years ago ). Ok. Fair enough...

My guess is that's the only reason that this tour is going down with nothing but Chinese Democracy to promote. While it feeds the hubris of Axl's "victory or death" way of doing things, it doesn't exactly make good business sense and fill arenas...

Like you, I'm hoping Axl has a big surprise in store for us.

  16. Is the U.S. tour going to sell well?

First off, GNR touring the states, whether there's new music/album or not, is a good thing for GNR fans. I've been eagerly awaiting the Chicago date since Miami was announced, and will be there with bells on the night of the show.

With that said, I really wish this tour would be given the propper promotion that it needs, and deserves, to be successful. As a fan, it bothers me that Axl could release a single and simply announce the next album, kind of like what Dr. Dre is doing with D-Tox, but as it currently stands, it doesn't look like he's going to do that.

We know Axl doesn't really dig the whole press thing, and making his rounds doing that to gain hype probably isn't in the cards. Why not release "The General" or "Soul Monster" to radio stations and subsequently to iTunes on the heals of Rio? How could that possibly be a bad thing?

I don't know about the rest of you, but I just want to see this tour given it's fair shake, and I just don't believe that riding solely on Chinese Democracy 3 years after the release is enough, especially since the public now knows what NuGNR sounds like, and all the hype has been emptied out of the "Chinese Democracy Balloon". :shrugs:

As of now, I'm just hoping Axl has an Ace up his sleave, and the press release for the U.S. tour let's us know what's up with the next album as well. Anyone think new music is still a remote possibility in 2011 or early 2012?
