  1. Ah, all the views but all the silence.

Let us discuss who´s coming instead of BBF.

Will the amazing guitarist Buckethead make a comeback, or is Slash considering a return and be on stage for Rock In Rio in October?

I hope for anyone of these two.

Sorry to burst your seemingly impenetrable bubble, but Slash isn't skilled enough to play a lot of those guitar passages. =b

    +1

Anyway I think Bumble got a kick out of the whole Fortus incident and is just fucking with us....you know to keep the band unpredictable :shrugs:

Hmm, could be. Something needs to promote these upcoming dates, and it doesn't look like Axl Rose or new GNR music is gonna do that... :shrugs:

  2. In response to the OP, I think there are probably a good two albums worth of completed songs in the vault. However, keep in mind CD was more or less "completed" in various forms in 2004, 2006, and finally in 2008. However, Axl felt the need to add Ron, Frank, and other Pitman-esque noises to various songs, rerecording various solos, and tinkering with some of them for years on end until he was finally happy with it.

My guess is that although we'd deem these songs perfect, they're Axl's babies, and God only knows how far along they are in his eyes. Keep in mind in 2009 his only response to Del when asked the status of the next album was "Depends how you look at it."

Not very promising, but who knows what's happened since then.

  3. When has Axl ever been scared of something? You people call yourselves fans. *headshake*

    Are you kidding?

Let me let you in a little secrect: Axl is a human being. Some of you need to learn how to separate the art from the artist. You can be supportive of the art they produce, but obsessing and turning him into some kind of demi-god who fears nothing and can do no wrong is ludicrous as it is scary.

  4. it would be stupid, in the USA at least to have a new album under the CD name imo

CD2 is just a nickname the fans have given the next album, since it (if it ever comes out) contains tracks that were written & recorded during the Chinese Democracy sessions. I'm sure it will have a unique title.

On topic, I still believe that if Axl and the label were seriously confident in the remaining tracks that we'd have them on our itunes by now. I'm sure they're awesome, but I hope that the constant tinkering that delayed (and was allegedly forced) on CD for years doesn't happen to these tracks as well.

  5. I dunno, going by DJ's recent interview, it doesn't look like anything's planned yet in regard to an upcoming release. Unless Axl's playing his cards close to his chest in regard to what he's telling the other guys, they all seem kinda clueless about what's gonna happen next, other than saying that Axl's got 'three albums of material up his sleeves'.

We've been hearing stuff like that since 1999.

  6. I don't think it's fear. I think hopefully after a US tour is done, they can move on to finish the next record.

    Ali

Yeah, something tells me that's what he's holding out for as well. But at this point, it would be so silly to tour the states again under the "Chinese Democracy Tour" banner. Delaying the next album for that seems pretty pointless to me.

I don't get why the next album and U.S. tour can't go hand in hand. It seems like it's probably their best bet at a more successful tour anyway.

  7. Does anyone think that after everything that went down with Chinese Democracy's release, that Axl is now scared to put out similar material, aka CD II??

For someone that initially wanted to release the albums a year apart, the ongoing silence from Axl regarding the follow up album is somewhat troubling.

I wish he'd just have faith in the songs he and the others have recorded and release the album for the fans, not the critics. He'll never be able to please everyone anyway. :shrugs:

    Thyme

Q: Axl, here's a list of rumored song titles. Can you tell us which ones are bogus and which ones are real?

Ides Of March ('98), Oklahoma ('98), Atlas Shrugged ('99), Closing In On You ('99), Cock-A-Roach Soup ('99), Friend Or Foe ('99), Hearts Get Killed ('99), No Love Remains ('99), Oh My God ('99), Something Always ('99), Suckerpunched ('99), Zip It ('99), Silkworms ('00), Down By The Ocean ('01), Leave Me Alone ('02), Seven ('02), The General ('02), Thyme ('02), Quick Song ('05), Zodiac ('05), Motormouth ('06), We Were Lying ('06)

A: Ides Of March, Oklahoma, Atlas Shrugged, Oh My God, Silkworms , Down By The Ocean (Izzy), Leave Me Alone, Seven , The General , Thyme , Quick Song , Zodiac Most all titles subject to change w/out warning and r considered working titles. (Axl Rose, Chats)

God I hope that album comes out soon...

  8. ugh no more 10 year old songs on CD 2 plz

Fine wine gets better with age - as does the phenomenon of songs on "Chinese Democracy" II.

Exactly. If we haven't heard them yet, they might as well have been recorded yesterday.

  9. I think that the less we know as to why the follow up album is still not out, the better. My guess is that the truth is probably really, really depressing.

This is like the worst case, that something´s really wrong with Axl for example.

To be honest, those thoughts have crossed my mind at times of silence.=/

I was thinking more along the lines of money, or lackthereof, preventing the kind of deal that would convince Axl & the label to put it out.

  10. The album as a whole would have been better, and better received had it been put out in 02/03 while everyone was still on the return high and Bucket was still in the band. Not to mention, these songs were so much more badass in their 'purer' forms, especially The Blues, Chinese Democracy, & TWAT (The first leak with Bucket's solo).

But then again, striking while the iron's hot has never exactly been Axl's priority.

  11. I know I sound like a cupcake, and thats cool; but truth is I don't really care that much about name, reunion etc. Just wanted a good album and I just don't think it is. CD is truly unlistenable to me and I think I've been plenty fair in trying to "get it."

Hell I would love to "get it."

Right, and you're entitled to your opinion just like anyone else. And there are a few tracks on CD that I often hit skip on (like The Blues, Madagascar, Scraped) that I think are just "Meh." But tracks like Better & TWAT....I just don't get how anyone, without an agenda, can listen to them and think "Well that song was just bad."

  12. It's a great record, and if people can't get past the fact that it came out under the GN'R name, and/or that the old guys aren't on it, or that it just sounds different from old school GN'R - it's their loss as far as I'm concerned.

    Ali

Oh, absolutely. I think it's definitely in the top 10 rock albums of the last decade, if not the best. It's just that the weight of the name held it down. When most fans spent 20 years (1988-2008) thinking that GNR was supposed to sound like Appetite & UYI and then out of nowhere comes a melting pot of crazy grooves that deviate from their roots so much, you're bound to get, at best, a mixed reaction from fans & critics alike.

I remember when it first dropped having my friends be really into the tracks and when they'd ask who it was, when I'd say GNR their response would be "Oh. It doesn't sound like them." You know, kind of dismissive. I think a lot of people responded that way to CD, and it's a damn shame because it's a terrific album.

Nope. It has and always will be about the music, and it just isn't there. If CD was good, their would virtually no one talking about a reunion or Axl keeping the name.

Oh stop. If you're telling me that Slash not being on CD didn't affect anyone's outlook on it you're high.

I'm quite sure that the bulk of critics & fans who slammed CD had their minds made up about it before they heard one note of music. I love Slash and the old lineup too, but you can't deny that there are some great and inspired tracks on Chinese Democracy.

  13. I enjoy CD but i wouldnt call it musically groundbreaking or experimental.(Mabey for GNR)

The chord progressions are basic rock and many bands have mixed drum machines with real drum to achieve a desired affect way before CD.

Not hatin, but what's so experimental about it?

    I'm geinuinely curious.

Better, TWAT, & Prostitute are a few that come to mind that are pretty out there. I remember when Better first leaked thinking that I'd never heard anything remotely like it, in a good way.
