  1. Can we do this?

Seeing as though the last contact Eric had with GNR was from Axl's lawyers, I'm guessing, no?

Lol, good point. Sick the lawyers on their biggest fansite. Smashing PR work as always.

Although, at the very least, sending a good natured update to all the fansite would definitely help to repair the fractured relationship they currently have with the fansbase.

  2. Axl knows the fans are dying to know the status of the next album as well as future touring plans. If he cared, even a little, he'd issue a short statement explaining plans for both.

He obviously doesn't care enough to explain what's going on with either at this point.

  3. Label would love to put out the CD stuff I'm sure. I mean, what album exactly does sales in the millions without any promotion whatsoever?

Regardless of the lack of promotion, both the Best Buy deal and the overall sales more than paid for these albums, as they were all recorded as part of the Chinese Democracy sessions. Aren't they loosing out on a lot more money if they *don't* put the next album(s) out?

  4. I really wonder if Axl visits the forums anymore. I mean, this thread is going on 20 pages, all with unusually optimistic messages about the next album.

I just don't know how Axl can see all this positivity from the fans regarding the rest of the 'CD Era' tracks and think "Nah." about putting it out soon.

If it's not Axl that's holding it up, I'd really like to know which idiot from the label we can send all our hate mail to. :D

Well, I remember someone saying that last summer Axl had turned in another albums worth of material to the label. It was going to be a self-titled album. But I heard conflicting reports about why it didnt get released, one thing I heard was that caram costanzo wasnt going to finish mixing the album until he got paid. The other thing I heard was that the label didnt wanna put out the album because they felt that Axl wasnt going to "play ball".

Those were rumours I heard on here, as I have no inside info what so ever. So I dont know how much stock to put into it. But I did read on multiple places that the record label does in fact have another albums worth.

MSL started that rumor, and he was (most likely) lying. This is also the guy who later stated that Axl had no intentions of releasing the next album unti CD was relaunched. See the contradiction?

I dunno. I just have a real hard time believing that if Axl Rose handed the label a finished Guns N' Roses album, that they would not get the ball rolling immediately getting it out any way they could and as fast as they could.

  6. So..... no plans for GNR until May?

That's not neccesarilly a bad thing. We know that it's been difficult in the past for Axl to prep an album release while on tour (2006 anyone?).

Let's just hope Axl's using the down time to mix & master the next album.

  7. I know the press release cam in 2004, but does anyone seriously think Bucket had ANYTHING to do with GN'R after Philly 2002?

    IMO his tenure ends there.

Bucket recorded his parts in 2000, 2001, and maybe 2002 before they began touring. After Philly he was done. In 2004 his manager stated he left due to "Guns inability to complete an album or tour."

When did Bumblefoot start blabbing that he was in the band? Early 2004 right? I highly doubt Bucket had anything to do with GN'R after Philly 2002. There's no way he was recording in 2004. Marc Canter even confirmed that the entire album was recorded in a three year time span (excluding the Frank N' Bumble "invasion" of 2006/7).

According to Axl's press release, it was late 2003 that Bucket called Brain telling him he was "back in Guns." Apparently he had both quit and rejoined the band in 2003, unbeknownst to Axl.

  8. I always wondered if bucket took of the mask and just Hung out with axl having normal conversations, and discussing music techniques etc without hiding behind the mask.

He would go in and out of the Buckethead persona when he was with the band. Tom Zutaut told a story about meeting Bucket at a deli in 2001 when he first started working with the band. Bucket was acting completely normal at first, telling Tom about how he was tired of playing the same parts over and over and how he felt like the album would never come out at that point and just wanted to move on with his life. Then out of nowhere, he started talking about how he was born in a chicken coupe, etc. It was then that Tom came up with the infamous idea of building Buckethead his very own chicken coupe in the studio to record in.

  9. Is Slash still doing something that pisses off Axl?

    Probably

Yep. The whole successfully touring, releasing music, and communicating with the fans thing must really upset Axl, as none of this helps erase Slash from existence.

Sue Activision asking for 20M due Slash image usage tied to WTTJ and Duff playing with the band doesn't help to erase Slash from existence, right. Thanks for trolling though--wrong target, buddy. thumbsup.gif

Right, because nobody thinks of Slash when they hear WTTJ just like nobody thinks of Keith Richards when they hear Start Me Up.

I love how Axl-apologists accuse people of 'trolling' whenever they offer an opinion that strays from sucking on his proverbial ass.

  10. I wish Axl would just come out and state what he would *like* to happen next.

An actual game plan of some sort would ease this situation into something else than a rinse'n repeat of the 2005 etc. era wall of silence.

People like to counter that by saying "But if it doesn't happen everyone will blame Axl, etc." As if that's a good reason to not communicate with the fanbase whatsoever.

I agree that a simple update about what's on the horizon for 2011 would send us over the moon, and would be just an all around courteous gesture on Axl's part.

  11. i like to see the chinese democracy tour as the black pearl, forever doomed to sail across the world

i bet axl can do a bitchin geoffrey rush

Lol...You joke, but look at the last 10 years.

  12. He may feel like the US tour needs to be done before it is time to move on. You are may or may not agree with that, but that may be where he is coming from.

Ali, you may very well be right about this, as far as why we've heard nothing about the next album. What I don't get is why everything has to come to a complete silent standstill until this gets accomplished, when the best idea is obviously to just move on to the next album and tour the states again once that's out.

    Del: When's the next album?

Axl: Have no idea and don't care. Hopefully, we'll be working 'Chinese' for a good bit. Of course there's the same idiots that have been around forever already demanding release dates.

It's been two years since Axl batted away questions about the next album during the Del interview. Now that 'Chinese' has been worked for a good bit, I wonder if he still feels this way. :shrugs:

When Axl talked about the unreleased songs titles in the chats, He seemed excited about that material, and when he talked about how Robin plays a really great SRV style solo, it added to the feeling hewants cd2 to be release.

Not to mention he said he always thought of it as a double album. I think he will release it, but after they fucked him over with this release, I think he'll be a lot more careful about how it's done, which I think will prolong the wait.

Yeah, I felt that he was being intentionally coy about the next album during the Del interview. During his fan chats he seems uber optimistic about putting out the next album. We got none of that in the Del interview. Maybe it was more directed at whoever was responsible for botching the CD release.

Again, a nice lil' update would clarify a lot of this.

  15. it only takes an update to make this forum and all fans happy with knowledge of what is going on

Agreed. Which is why the silent treatment the fans get is just baffling.

  16. I pray to the gods that the decade long Chinese Democracy tour has come to an end.

Even if silence ensues, at least we know that if something happens next it'll probably involve the fans hearing new music.

The tour is over when they say it's over. That has not been said yet. lolaxlro$e

    Really...eh?

  18. I don't think axl needs to be pushed to do anything just because we want him to.

Exactly. I mean, who wants to communicate with their fanbase. What a nightmare.
