I think it certainly does not help the cause. You get bands like Megadeth or Whitesnake who go thru people like toilet paper, and nobody bats an eye because they keep releasing stuff. Basically new member = new album. In Nu's case it's more like new member = new 3 or 4 notes on existing song.
Exactly. I'm sure the more recent lineup changes have delayed the next album even more than it already would have been. The fans opinions obviously ammounts to dick to Axl, but I really think that replacing Robin, Brain and Bucket's parts on the next album in favor of DJ, Ron, and Frank is a mistake and will keep the follow up of CD in limbo for years to come...That is, if that's the direction they take with it.
I'm sure that as they are, save for possible further mixing & mastering, the next album is ready to go when Axl says so. It's adding everyone that's in GNR this week that could still be holding it up...

Let's just say that it would be a hard argument to make that the band puts out too much music, as opposed to our current real situation where they put out one album in 2008, and are holding the next one hostage.
-
What would he say right now?
Dexter: Hey guys. I still don't plan to put out CD2 any time soon. Nothing new to report on the U.S. tour either. But hey, Happy New Year!!!
-
If he took ownership away from a legend like Slash while he was still in the band, why would on earth would be give it to, say, Richard Fortus?
-
Yeesh. Well that was ugly.

Maybe Duff told Matt that Axl played to him. I mean after all Duff was there and on stage with Axl.
I'm sure that did not happen. Slash and Matt are obviously upset that Duff got a ton of media attention along with Axl because of that concert, and now they're giving their little digs to feel better about it. It's painfully obvious and child-like behavior from two musicians that I respect.
Why would you think that?
Common sense and their painfully obvious, butt-hurt, comments.
I don't think anything is painfully obvious about anything. Except the constant assumption that everyone seems to know at all times what these guys have on there minds. And what they are discussing behind closed doors. And disecting every single word they say.
You thought Duff maybe had told Matt that Axl played to him. I was commenting on actual comments made Slash and Matt. Real comments hold more evidence than fictitious conversations that happen nowhere but in your own head.

Some of you guys are fucking retarded. OF COURSE Axl played to Duff a bit. It would have been strange if he didn't. It was the first time they played together in 17 years. Why wouldn't Axl want to make good with him and have some fun?
I love the old band, but I swear, Axl just can't just win with some of you. Back off a bit and use your brains. He reunites with Duff for a show, and STILL you nit-pick and find shit wrong with it.
"He played to Duff too much." Just fucking retarded.

My gut feeling was to get down on Matt for saying this, but I dunno, he knows Axl better than any of us, that's for sure.
Maybe he was jealous of Duff, and wanted to take a cheap shot at Axl. Maybe he was just making an honest observation.
All I know is that both Slash and Matt seem to be a bit frazzled about what happened and need to take their shots at Axl to feel better about it. Who knows...
What did slash say about it?
Slash made some strange comments about how he was in constant contact with Duff throughout the day and night that it happened. And how the fact that they still went on an hour late would have put a bad taste in his mouth, had he been in Duff's position.

* Appetite was about their rise to success in the mean streets of L.A.
* UYI was about Erin Everly and coping with all the fame that was thrown their way.
* CD (And hopefully CD2) is about Stephanie Seymour and his anger towards his ex-bandmates and those who've done him wrong along the way to the album.
Which begs the question, what's he going to sing about on the GNR 3.0 album, his anger towards Irving Azoff, Guitar Hero, Dr. Pepper, and Ulrich Schnauss???
You forgot the mention Axl's anger towards cars. That Bentley took a beating
http://www.tmz.com/2010/10/21/axl-rose-bentley-leased-guns-n-roses-lawsuit-damaged-car/
Haha, how could I forget? Any other lawsuits we're forgetting that will inevitably keep new music off the fans itunes in 2011? So far it's 5. Rock n' roll!!

That's really freakin' weird man....the tickets I bought said Guns N' Roses on them.....
not everything is what it seems in this crazy world...
"RETIRE AXL! RETIRE!"
I'll say what you Slashpeople pretend not to feel.
Slashpeople? You mean Guns N' Roses fans? Try harder.
Anyway, I hope the Chinese Democracy tour is in fact over for no other reason than it'll probably delay the next album even more, as history tells us that they've struggled in the past to realistically plot an album release while on the road. And for all you hopefuls who are waiting for the Guns 3.0 album to begin recording, continued touring sure ain't gonna get that done either.
-
Good. 8 years of touring on the same album was getting a bit dusty. Hopefully the powers that be will take the opportunity to put out another album and move on...
-
If anything more comes from this I will gladly eat my own words with a side of humble pie.
I think you are actually right. This was was worst Guns N' Roses interview ever.
This is ridiculous and someone should punch whoever wrote that story right in the dick.
At a time where fans are chomping at the bit for info on the next album, the U.S. tour, etc. this was definitely not needed.
-
Well, that was a pretty awesome interview.
There's just so much to look forward to in 2011!!
The word "interview" obviously got lost in translation.
-
I hope that "I'm so excited to be playing in front of such a multi-cultural crowd" wasn't the interview.
Agreed.
-
Where's the interview?
Uhh, I hope that quick blurb about the show wasn't the "interview" they were talking about...
-
God, I hope he answers some good questions about the next album. I'm having ugly flashbacks of the Del interview...
-
Let's hope that this leg of the tour ending means Axl's gotten Chinese Democracy out of his system and we can all move on to the next album.
-
What's sad is that we'll probably be dissecting and youtubing this orchestration over crowds screaming for a LOOOONG time to come, since it looks like there's zero intentions to put this song out in an official form in 2011.
-
Here's your proof that it's more than possible for a band member to get fed up with how Axl Rose operates...
1) Izzy Stradlin
2) Slash
3) Duff
4) Josh Freese
5) Buckethead
6) Robin Finck
Would another name on that list really shock anyone?
-
Probably. Depends on the weather.
When are Dexter, Beta and Fernando coming back to mygnr?
in 2010
