  1. Referring to the CD2 tracklisting as "Leftovers" couldn't be more wrong. Anyone who's been a fan of the band before November 25, 2008 should know that MANY songs were intentionally put aside to go on the second, and possibly even the 3rd albums. Saying that they are just CD leftovers reduces Axl's plan to put out multiple albums from this era, and is simply incorrect.

  2. I would hope that the reason we haven't gotten the U.S. dates yet is because they're waiting to negotiate the next album's release so they can coincide with eachother.

  3. I think we have the tracklisting now.

    We do?

Last I checked, the closest thing we have to that are confirmed song titles: The General, Soul Monster, Zodiac, Atlas Shrugged, Quick Song, Beta's Barn, Down By The Ocean, Silkworms, Oklahoma, Thyme etc. I imagine we'll see the bulk of those titles on the next album.

  4. when i heard about axl turning in the record / UMG refusing to release it, it had nothing to do with being a GNR "insider" and everything to do with having a couple buddies that work @ UMG.

as for breaking the best buy story / release date, i was very honest at the time about how i was getting my information. azoff was in bed with rolling stone and controlling what was being reported about GNR. a reporter there was leaking info to me because he was being prevented from reporting it himself.

i've never considered myself a GNR insider, just a big fan. a lot of people love me and a lot of people hate me and i'm koo with that. cats that have been around long enough know that nemus and i busted our asses to get leaks year after year after year . . .

I should have used a different word than "insider" but you do have more "inside" info than anyone else who posts on here claiming to have "inside" info. I mean I think having friends at UMG is more than most people have. And having a rolling stone guy give info to you....I havent seen anyone else on this board with that kind of hookup.

Mysteron is/was a true insider. I'm pretty sure he either works for Universal/Geffen/Interscope or he's a music exec of sorts. Everywhere from pre-sales to Hammerstein, to revealing the Shacklers on Rock Band 2, to the Body of Lies/If The World -- Mysteron, like it or not, was legit.

Whoever he is, he must have lost whatever connections to the band he had, as he's been pretty mums the word with his predictions in the last year or so.

  5. Damn, guns n roses fans remind me of a beaten dog. They dont trust anyone, and the second that someone comes through with any info they flipout and start calling people liars. I only have 1 gnr insider I believe and that is MSL.

    Why?

Because apparently he's email buddies with the president of Universal Music Group.

I am asking honestly alot of people think he is insider yet I don't. So I am wondering what has givin him credibility as a Guns insider?

I honestly don't know. As many of you will recall, he leaked several tracks in 2007 and Shackler's in 08, so many fans revere him as the one who gave us new music when it looked like we would get none in the near future officially. He claims he broke the November 25, 2008 release news, though that's highly disputable.

So I guess he deserves some credit as a person of interest, but I would hardly consider him an 'insider', no offense MSL.

I think that more fair to say he is a leaker instead of insider...

That's a fair summary. And he may have been more successful at that down the line if he hadn't written that manifesto telling us all how smart he was. I recall them wigging out on him when he wrote that thread which in turn burned all those bridges.

  8. I think everyone here who's been around the block a couple times with this band and is a realist, knows that there's only one real "insider" who currently knows what's going to happen with the next album and that's Axl Rose.

However distressful that may be to some, when there's real news regarding the next album, we'll know it because he will have issued some kind of statement or press release. Until then, everything else is just a bunch of rumors and nonsense.

  9. axl turning the record in and pushing for a july release was a lot more than a rumor. it was confirmed by several people within universal and was even spoken of publically on industry sites before the GNR community picked up on it.

Are there links to these sites available to support this? Anything at all? I dont want to seem like a prick, as I am very grateful for what you did for the fans back in '07. But you've been around long enough to know how hard it is for anyone who knows anything about this band to simply take someones word for it, even someone proven like you.

It's just that as far as we've seen, we're no closer to a release now than we were when these rumors first surfaced. As always, I hope I'm wrong. :shrugs:

  10. we already knew axl originally wanted the self-titled record out in november 2009. we also know he turned in a mixed and mastered album in the spring of 2010 and asked for a july release. seems reasonable that he's still trying to get UMG to release the album ASAP.

As far as we know, that rumor started with you.

No, it didn't. Many people stated that before.

Facepalm. No Manets. I passed that rumor on to you after MSL started it to coax the hoarders into giving up tracks. I remember this because, much to my dismay, you name dropped me all over the forums when I told you this and you wouldnt shut up about it until it mid summer when it became clear that a release this year was not in the cards.

Hey, that's not truth. I didn't drop your name on the board, I didn't drop anyone name on the board. And I wasn't actually refering to only you. I heard of the release by someone else first, and not only that, there were these guys who came here and claimed to have contacts from the industry that confirmed the album release and also the self-titled thing.

Regardless, it proves that this whole "GNR turned the next album in for an intended July release, but were turned down and were hoping for November..." was nothing more than a rumor with ABSOLUTELY ZERO real evidence to support it.

How do we know that was actually the case? As far as we know, that rumor started with you. Other than that, we've seen no concrete evidence that Axl has turned in the second album yet whatsoever.

  13. Maybe its just me, but I wouldn't take some random guy on a gnr fan forum claiming to be an insider. So many people have done this before, gave similar vaugue information, and acted the same way and every single one of them turned out to be fake

Or we could discuss the wealth of info the band is giving us on the next album....Oh wait.

Lol, you have a point though, this did happen a lot from 02-08 on the forums. But really, until the band says anything official (once every 10 years) all we can do is speculate and dispute whether these anonymous posters, Mysteron, Robin F etc, have some shred of truth to what they're saying.

  14. Regardless of whether or not this guy is legit, I have a feeling that the first few months of 2011 are going to be very telling in regard to future plans.

Before or after the euphoria from the US tour wears off?

Haha I dunno about that one. Until we hear differently, DJ may have been counting his chickens before they hatched with that one. Either way, I think the fans U.S. and otherwise are more interested in the next album than a 3rd U.S. tour for this album. Like I said, the next couple of months should be telling...

  16. in regards to cd1

    "

The final tracklist wasn't determined until mid-2008. In other words, there were other songs in the running. We almost got Atlas instead of Catcher."

That's very believable. Let's hope we get the album announcement sooner rather than later in 2011!

  17. Well according to some the "experts" on this board, GNR is as popular as its ever been, and everybody knows Slash isn't in the band.

In fact, according to some, when people think of GNR these days, they think Ashbaland or KFC Double Down's.

    ....But yeah, this is dumb, no matter if its true or not. I mean when a kid is playing gnr classics on the game, of course he's gonna wanna play as character that looks like slash;

Well that simply isn't the case. Unfortunately, and not because “new” GN'R doesn't have talent, when your average Joe is presented with something GN'R related their instant association is with Axl, Slash, maybe Duff, maybe Izzy, or possibly Adler. The reason for this is because of the media oppression of the new project (especially Axl) and certain individuals' continued attempts at preserving a connotation with the concept. That's the reality.

Possibly because he opposes any attempts at progressing the Guns N' Roses concept if it doesn't entail him (likely because he feels he is Guns N' Roses)? Despite the fact he left of his own accord in 1996.

Media suppression? I'm glad so many of Axl Rose's fans have adopted his persecution complex. He perpetuates every bit of slack he gets by late concert appearances, a rotating door of managers, lawsuits, random feuds with clothing designers and obscure metal bands, and last but-not-least a woefully overfunded and underwhelming album that he did nothing to promote, or mend any issues with the media. Slash has gotten some jabs in there over the years, but he's done more to distinguish himself from Guns N' Roses, by you know, making music and appearances in the public eye.

Which is obviously why Axl has become increasingly embittered by the man. Just because Axl's terrified of the media, he gets down on Slash for utilizing whatever means he can to stay relevant outside of GNR. It's a no-win for Slash with Axl Rose. Hell, Axl basically said that he'd like to see Slash disappear forever with the whole 'cancer' remark.

I still get a good chuckle from people who truly believe this lawsuit isn't about Slash...

  18. "In order to promote Guns N' Roses, Rose diligently attempts to channel media and fan attention to the current status of the band, its lineup and focus on its current endeavors and plans for the future"

I really, really hope that, for Axl's sake, no one who knows anything about Guns N' Roses is in the jury.
