  1. "There's been some concern. That if we play five or six new songs, then there can't that many more on the album. Au contraire, mon frére. We're just playing the songs we're not considering putting out as singles or anything. So, you'll get 18 songs, and about 10 extra tracks. And when that, when the record company feels that has run its course, then you'll get it all over again. By that time, I should be done with the third album. So we'll see if all goes well boys and girls."

    Oh, Axl.

lol, oh Axl Contraire Mon Frére, 9 years later and 1 album :tongue2:

Yeah, I'm sure all the naysayers are just embarrassed. He sure showed them!

Man, what a letdown the past few years have been. How do you go from those kinds of plans and enthusiasm to "Don't know and don't care." Yeesh.

  3. By the way, we like the old band there. Except for Broski. ^

    What if you like both

Im a mod over there and I love all the incarnations of GNR, regardless of whether Axl hates the fans. :D

But seriously, all viewpoints are welcome there. You should check it out.

  4. I feel sorry for guys like Robin, Tommy, Brain & Bucket who all spent years in the studio recording God-knows-how-many songs, and now knowing that so much of what they wrote and recorded on will not see the light of day, or will simply be re-recorded to incorporate whoever's in GNR this week.

How don't you leave or become at least a little bitter over that?

Too be fair, Robin and Bucket, worked with Axl Rose and created some decent guitar sounds for ok songs. It wasn't Guns N'Roses, but their guitar skills lifted somewhat average songs. The point at which Dj, BF, Frank covered the new songs, GN'R became a total joke.

That's probably the biggest drag about the 'current' lineup. Before, where Bucket and Robin weren't Slash & Izzy, they were at least an incredibly talented duo (See TWAT, Better, CD, & IRS) who's sounds complimented eachother and brought an honest, fresh approach to Guns N' Roses.

Now, having Ron & DJ covering songs Robin & Bucket wrote & recorded is like having a coverband of, well, a more original coverband. Ron griping about how the next album will contain songs written 10 years ago by guys who've been out of the band for 5 years only confirms their own displeasure about this.

Thing is, the truth is that whatever songs are remaining from the Chinese Democracy Era are probably 10x better than anything they could come up with in 2011 or whenever they hit the studio.

Come to think of it, what are Bucket & Robin up to this year? :D

  6. A couple more from GunsofTruth. Now I'm convinced it's educated guesses and that s/he's a member of this board...

how realistic is a reissue of Chinese with correct booklet and possibly extra tracks?

At this point, it's not going to happen

CD reissue was almost a reality. Would have had bonus tracks & possibly DVD mini doc. It would have been a 'US Tour Edition'

Any plans for RIR warm up shows? Vegas? NYC?

No chance of formal US dates until the Azoff dispute is settled. If it happened it would be surprise gigs like Rose Club.

    how reliable are you?

I can only be as reliable as the info I have. In the GNR world info changes frequently. But I do tell the truth as I hear it.

Of all the songs from "Chinese Democracy" which is the oldest? Slash and Duff took part in one of them?

Definitely none of them date back to Slash. Duff, maybe the germ of an idea evolved into something, but I don't think so.

any chance the new album is a double with the other 30 songs? USA tour?

Probably no US tour this year sadly. Double album has been discussed, but no solid plans...

... I would however say there's a very good chance you'll hear SOME new GNR this year, but it may not be in the form of an album

There is no 'inside info' right now. I would suggest not reading too much into any of this.

In other words, other than Rio, there's no plans for 2011. Lovely.

  7. Ya know, I won't pretend to know what's going on with Axl's life right now, or how he does business, but I just will never understand having all this down time ahead of him and not doing anything with the next album, an album of more or less finished tracks that the fans are foaming at the mouth to hear.

So, while it won't be too much of a shock, I'm gonna be really disappointed if we don't get an announcement or at least an update regarding the next album within the next few months.

  8. thing is, he may not even know the full plans yet....

If you're referring to Ron, then I agree completely. History's shown us that Axl plays his cards pretty close to his chest with these guys. Ron said he finds out about tours when the dates have been announced and he gets his tickets, etc. are sent to him. They also found out about the CD release when the official announcement was made, just like the rest of us.

Other than possible titles of unreleased songs they've recorded on, these guys probably know VERY little that we don't.

Let's just hope that Axl's using this time to do what has to be done to get the next album out in 2011.

  9. If no tour plans means a new album, I'm more than happy with this...

    Agreed.

Let's just hope this year isn't like 2003-05 where the album was more or less done but the band didn't do anything. But yes, If this means that Axl's decided to put out the next album in place of touring then I'm all for it. Although, it would be nice if the two went somewhat hand in hand...

  10. What's troubling is that regardless of which side of the fence you are on as a GNR fan, there's just not much to look forward to. For those that support the current incarnation, the Spring tour has been nixed for whatever reason, Richard's touring this summer, and we're seemingly no closer to hearing the next album from the CD era.

On the other side of things, I think anyone who has a shred of common sense knows a reunion just isn't in the cards. If Axl can't tour the states or release another (already completed) album with, I'm sorry, a bunch of well paid, albeit talented, 'yes men' then I highly doubt Slash and Duff would be able to put up with what has become a routine pattern of an inability to function as a normal band who appreciates their fans for more than 5 minutes.

So, what's there to look forward to? :shrugs:

  11. Hasn't he got a new solo album on the way maybe he's refering to that? Why do they always have to be so bloody vague?!

It's certainly possible. Thing is, the only really interesting thing that could happen for GNR fans is the next album. Rio and a U.S. tour would be nice, but the real pay off is going to be the announcement for CD2.

  12. The thing is, it's not as if these guys even have a major following. Outside of these forums, I doubt many people even know that Tommy Stinson is in GNR. So, why be so secretive? Maybe there's a Replacements reunion tour this year.

That's why I cringe every time they go "Man, I can't discuss GNR bizz." Seriously, it's the most interesting thing about you. Give us something. It's not like Axl makes up for whatever they're not allowed to talk about with his silence.

Someone should tweet Tommy to see if he's referring to the next Guns album.

  13. If we are indeed getting the next album this year, it would explain CD's recent price drop. It would make sense to clear the shelves of CD as much as possible to make room for another exclusive which, word is, Best Buy would once again have first rights to.

    We'll soon find out...
