come on there is no way it’s just one song, i don’t care how it’s registered. both songs have a full verse/chorus/verse/chorus/bridge/chorus structure with an intro and outro and with different tones and tempos and nothing that connects the two. i do not think it is meant to be viewed as one 9 minute song at all. i also think the vinyl will only have The General, not Monsters, and that these leaks came from a different source
I think it's more accurate to call it a two parter. The two pieces share the same orchestra, similar electronic bits, similar subject matter, and generally work better when listened together. Also, if the vinyl only has The General, would they really have had a problem getting its quality good enough since it is only around 4 mins in length? On the other hand, it is likely they would have quality issues if the two songs were included due to the length.

Go back in time to 2011 and tell yourself that is the record lol
I wouldn't mind it actually.

Slash's (I assume) lick before Axl's screams in Monsters is fucking epic.

I can't wait for that bald-headed hipster fuck on YouTube to trash this song like all the others, lol.

One thing I'll say - assuming these were ripped from a vinyl - they sound fairly far from being complete, like so far that it's surprising they were ever placed on a vinyl?
Some of our members had issues with the Perhaps leak too, but it ended up sounding pretty great on release. I would expect the mix of The General/Monsters to sound much clearer and polished on release... hopefully it is digitally released too.

I'm quite shocked that so many people seem to prefer monsters.
For me it only works as a follow on to the general.
I love the general but find monsters a bit repetitive after a while.
Really like it but mainly as a whole song combined.
Monsters could be half as long and I'd be happy.
I prefer Monsters due to its low vocals and the bridge rasp. However, I agree that it works better as a follow up to The General. Listening to both of them together is better than either of them individually. This is clearly as it was intended, since it is basically one overarching song and they complement each other.

I'm mad at myself for listening when I SWORE I would not... but I did.. and I agree with everyone else who says these songs are incredible. That nasty riff in General, holy shit is that genuinely "heavy." And then Monsters- I love it because it makes me think of how Prostitute and Atlas are: that they totally sound like, 1996/97, VH1 Pop up video and.... i don't know, yes, incredible.
Can't blame yourself when the management fucked us around with the release date. Whoever leaked it is a legend.

Gotta say, I originally (and still) prefer Monsters over The General, but the chorus on The General is catchy as fuck.

I like the songs, but I would much prefer more rasp and orchestra, lol.

I believe the leak might be a gift from the band after the fuck up, but they are not going to admit it
Some people do it, but Team Brazil is the type where you would have to pry the shit out of their hands.

Just saying if these were real and not some kind of freaky AI surely they’d be taken down by now…
Monsters is essentially a match with the phone clip, even down to the lyrics leading up to (but not exactly) the screaming.

It feels like old demos and they put two songs in one that why it's "The General and Monsters"
They both use the orchestral arrangement, so this is very likely in my opinion.

Both songs sound like they use the classic 'The General' orchestral arrangement at different parts, which is cool. Not yet sure if they are 100% legit, but the screaming in Monsters has me pretty convinced.

Sounds to me both songs use different parts of 'The General' orchestral arrangement.

This sounds like early demoing and mix tracks like much of the Village Sessions. Wouldn't be surprised if it's legit. The vocals have a specific cadence and pitch which sound much like Axl.

I've just been in a live chat with customer support for the UK store. Been told that the order is indeed delayed, but they don't have a date for when it is delayed to. Once that date has been finalised UK orders should get the dreaded email
Thanks for following that up. It's bloody ridiculous you had to do it in the first place.

There is but one person who can put us on the golden path to victory in the arduous struggle for The General...

They did provide communication by sending the email. If they told you a wk ago what difference would it make? It's a song not a dishwasher.
The delays , frustration, lack of communication should be expected by now. GnR does not care about the super die hard fan. Do you honestly think the general public are the ones hammering them? Nobody gives a fuk. You'll hear the song soon. Not a big deal. If you are looking for a smooth operation then gnr isn't the band for you.
There is no excuse for sending an email announcement to some customers and not others the day before/the day of the original release date. That some of their customers have had to chase up the store/s because they didn't receive an email indicates just how badly the band/distributor messed up in organising the release and communicating it properly. The band's dreadful history on matters like this does not excuse it here. They had enough time to communicate the delay properly. They didn't.

It shouldn't be up to us to manage our expectations when the band clearly had a set release date and enough time to announce a delay. That they only updated a select portion of their consumers about the delay the day before (and in some time zones, the day of) the original release date is simply unprofessional and disrespectful. This is a new low for Guns N' Roses.

Well, so far we’ve had Absurd, Hard Skool and Perhaps. 3 songs we’ve already heard leaks of. Then the one time they’re supposed to release an ‘unheard’ song it gets delayed by 2 months. The vinyls clearly aren’t pressed yet which leads me to think the mix isn’t to Axl’s liking and it honestly wouldn’t surprise me if it never sees the light of day now. I just don’t think there’s much in the archives we haven’t heard, Axl clearly hates recording.
Pele was full of shit and I have no clue why some members here still parrot his talking points.
If he were on the forum before the Village leaks, his argument would have been that all the leaked songs before then would be the only ones with vocals, without considering Perhaps, etc. The logical flaw is that he based his opinion of unknowns only on what we had access to.

It has to be an issue with production or shipping from the plant, not a big deal really. I mean, it sick’s to have to wait a little longer but I guess I’m just used to delays when it comes to GnR
People wouldn't have an issue with the delay if it was communicated properly and promptly. People are more pissed about the shit communication than they are about the delay.

I think the best we can say is that we only know a few things for sure:
- The General and Monsters was officially registered as one song.
- We now have The General and Monsters.
- What we thought was The General was actually Monsters.
- The Monsters version we have is different to the phone leak version.
- Monsters may indeed be Soul Monster (not 100% confirmed but close enough).
Everything else is mostly speculation pending confirmation from the vinyl release or band statements. Yes, even the matter of who is playing on the song.
