I actually like the dolphin sounds just after the solo (if that's what they are). Gives some consistency to the Illusions era, haha.

I like it too, but it's not really new I don't think. It sounds like heavily modified Axl vocals as 2:21 of the demo.

I think it's Axl doing ooooh hoooohs with a heavily processed voice

Ah fuck, you beat me lol. Yeah, it's the same at 2:21 in the demo, just not modified.

Curious about no Robin. Does this mean Richard re-recorded his solo spot?

I know - the point I’m trying to convey is that anyone wanting to listen to the song for the first time having read that there’s a new Guns n Roses out, are right now getting served a low bit rate version of the old demo leak from the band’s official account, rather than the actual official release.

It's not the band's official account though...

And check the lyrics in the description. :rofl-lol:

The main difference is in how he sings "behaviour" (the last syllable). Could that be an effect?

I don't think it's current Axl. Only the low vocals on the chorus could be recent.

The fact that he recorded new vocal takes for Perhaps at some point makes me optimistic that he may have recorded proper vocals for State of Grace.

They managed to change 'parasitic semen sucking acid through your heart' in Silkworms to 'parasitic demon sucking acid through your heart' in Absurd through what sounds like vocal effects, so I guess it's possible for them to theoretically alter how 'behaviour' sounds in Perhaps. I'm not a studio wizard though.

As for the low vocals in the chorus, I don't think they're new either. You can hear them buried very deeply on the Village Sessions mix.

omg, look at these non-gnr-fan reaction to the news about Perhaps being released on jukeboxes

damn, no excitement from that side of the general public at all. maybe other general public audience might be slightly interested.

It's to be expected. GNR is little more than a legacy act in the eyes of most people.

I think Slash's solo on Perhaps is fine. Then again I have always thought most of the complaints about his playing since 2016 are greatly over-exaggerated so that is coming from that mindset lol

I actually like his solo too, but the transition from Robin to Slash just kills it for me. Hopefully on the official quality release it is just Slash overlayed with Robin to make the cut/past less grating.

Yes. It wouldn't be a bad marketing plan, actually. On the other hand, I suppose discussion on it wouldn't be banned on GN'R Reddit if it was intentional.

Given how beleaguered this whole marketing campaign for Perhaps has been, it is much more likely to be just one more addition in a whole host of mistakes than an intentional guerrilla marketing tactic, in my opinion. You never know though...

Why would that be? There's nothing illegal about this, right? Or would someone have reached out to them telling it's a no go? How very odd everything surrounding GNR is.

If i recall correctly, after the Village Sessions leaks, an employee or associate of the band's management was invited onto the GNR subreddit's moderation team. They had a big 'issue' with leaks back then and culled everything to do with it. It's not really surprising given Fernando was pretty active on the subreddit previously. With Perhaps, people can't even mention the jukebox scenario without getting removed, despite the fact the song is officially hosted and available to the public via the jukebox app. Anything about it gets removed due to sharing or promoting 'illegal leaks'.

The media exposure wasn't planned and part of a marketing strategy. It came because Tom Mayhue spoke out of turn and because we found the countdown page. Still, assuming a marketing strategy had been implemented leading to deliberate media exposure, delaying the release would only make sense if it was considered really important ;)

You're right of course, but I have no clue why they didn't just stick to the 11th given they had already received incidental exposure through Mayhue and our finding of the countdown page. They could have made the most of their mistakes... Instead, they delayed it (seemingly soon after the countdown page was found) and shot themselves in the foot since they clearly didn't cover all their bases...

    This is really interesting.

Release the song so it can only be heard at bars .

Die hard GNR fans flock to local bars to play it , and whoever else is at that bar hears it too(when they probably wouldn’t have otherwise).

The marketing team threw a curveball and I think it’s a great strategy

If by curveball you mean another addition in a long list of mistakes, then sure.

A few dozen GNR fans playing the song in a few bars does not make a great strategy. Most other patrons wouldn't care, and even if they did, it's not like they can go home and look the song up on YouTube or Spotify. It would have been much more effective for the management to stick to the 11th as their release date given they already had media exposure for then.

Honestly I'm impressed. I live in the low income end of town haha so our bars sound equipment isn't the greatest. But from this vantage point it sounded better than Hard Skool imo.

I don't know what's happening with this band but clearly I've just heard for myself. Perhaps is a thing. I can't believe I just heard that. My wife thinks I'm insane for leaving our friends at 1am to go to a dive bar to listen to one single song that I had to spend $5 on jukebox credits for along with another $5 for a Budweiser but I don't care. Worth it.

What's the solo like. How grating is the cut from Robin's to Slash's part?
