Why does he only do NR? It'd be cool to see Axl play something different on the piano onstage.

    Thoughts?

He probably doesn't remember how it goes lol.

Seriously thoygh, Perhaps is a new song and it would take a while for him to get comfortable singing it, let alone learning to play it as well. Better to focus all his energy on the singing side of things.

The reports on news sites are still relying on the press release, even though that bit has been removed from the GN'R website since yesterday. One quoted the press release and then added "but a track with the same title leaked in 2019, so who knows..."

Yeah, that's my general line of thought too. Someone had to approve the press release, and given it was sent out, I am hoping that there is some truth to Slash and Duff doing their parts this year..

I mentioned it earlier today but the description about that has been edited. If you click on the Perhaps vinyl you can read the updated blurb.

    https://gnrmerch.com/collections/perhaps/products/perhaps-7-vinyl

Guns N’ Roses return with a single entitled “Perhaps” out now via Geffen Records. It stands out as the legendary rock band’s first release since 2021. The 7” includes the R-Side, “The General.”

    Tracklist:
    Side G: Perhaps
    Side R: The General

    Limit 4 per customer

Thanks for the notice! I think some new sites were reporting similar based on a press release, but GNR removing the info from the website indicates little confidence.

Which brings up something I was thinking today....we've had the 3 songs we had a rough idea of from the leaking GNR vault....very shortly we go into uncharted waters, somewhere we won't be starting with where's this part form the demo or why the fuck no Robin and Bucket other than one bend! 😏

Perhaps this will be the start of us getting more stuff Axl knows we don't have...here's hoping 🤞

I hope the dubious press release of Axl/Slash/Duff writing Perhaps this year has some truth to it (as it would seem to separate it from the other songs written during the COVID lockdowns).

That was the 4chan person who said that. The Reddit person (the one with the cover arts) never claimed that. They just shared the artworks and said The General would come out in October and then Atlas in November. Not saying they’re legit, mind you. Just clarifying that it’s two different people.

There were two seemingly separate posts that shared cover art and made claims. One was the 4chan guy and the other were a couple of people who were having a joke. They did up a fake cover for The General and claimed that there were a few links in preparation for release on Apple Music. Is that what you're thinking about?

Someone on Reddit who predicted the right release date for The General had also said that Atlas would follow in November, tho maybe that was just a coincidence.

Do we have a link for this?

I know there was a guy n 4chan who claimed Perhaps, The General and Atlas would come out (which was copied over to Reddit), but no exact timeframe was given except for Atlas and Perhaps. Even then, the claims were that Perhaps was delayed because Axl wanted to 'stick it to' the label, The General's movie soundtrack deal fell apart and Atlas was scheduled for November...

I'm not inclined to believe it since Perhaps was a given and The General was a likely guess anyway. There is no evidence for Atlas being prepared, and why would they release it in November when they could have stuck it on the disc with Perhaps/The General in October?

This is a song for Guns N' Roses fans, particularly fans from the Chinese Democracy (and maybe from the Illusions era).

But I really don't see how this sticks with the casual or non-fans like a traditional single might.

I think you really need to like Axl's singing voice to get into this song.  It's akin to Don't Damn Me...  Both are good songs but if you can't get into or past Axl's vocal stylings you're not going to make it too far.  But I chuckle a bit when I hear people claim this song is a bit more radio-friendly.  How many radio-friendly songs of late have thrashy-metal sounding vocals in the chorus?

I think another obstacle of it hitting with a more casual fan base is the lack of a distinctive Slash guitar part/solo.  At least Hard Skool had that soaring guitar solo that could hook rock fans who aren't in love with Axl's voice.  This has a little guitar interlude that gives the song a pause.  I'd hardly call it a "solo."

It's a really enjoyable song for this Guns N' Roses fan.

That said, I would recommend people take it for what it is and worry less about whether it will resonate with the general public.

At this stage, hoping for a bonafide GNR radio hit is a pipedream. If they managed to pull a November Rain 2 out of their ass, it might be possible, but times are different. We should enjoy the songs for what they are.
